The Snow Patrol Thread
On the topic of repetition, I do agree with Jen that Cartwheels can becoming grating after a while. On the other hand, I think You Are My Joy is a much better song, even though I can see where one might find it repetitive.

2004 was the year after 2003
I wouldn't say 2004 was the best year of the decade or anything, given that you pretty much nailed anything I would have mentioned, but the ones you did mention are real gems. I'm glad you mentioned Stars, as I personally would have probably forgotten about it, even though I love them too. (FYI: 2004 was Let It Die, not The Reminder ;))

The official **KEANE** thread
I'm honestly a little apprehensive about their collaborations with K'naan (and supposedly Kanye West also). I've heard a fair few rap/rock collaborations and most of them are crap. Looking forward to Night Train regardless.

^ Awesome! What other material of theirs have you heard so far?

I just decided to give up Coldplay for lent...
Good luck! My main concern would be accidentally hearing Coldplay in public places, though, as it happens more often than you think! ;) See you in 40 days!

Coldplay Nominated for "Kids Choice Awards 2010" for Fav Music Group( Voting OPEN )
Kids Choice Awards? Against the Jonas Lovers and BEP? Coldplay has no bloody chance, sorry to say. Kids have no taste. Not to mention that most Nick award shows are rigged, methinks. (Spongebob won "Best Video Game" a few years ago, WTF?) Plus, do you really WANT Coldplay to be associated as a "kid's" act?

What Would you do if Coldplay were gone?
^ Perhaps, but there may be some defects, like missing ears or extra eyes.

What Would you do if Coldplay were gone?
I'd thank the heavens that I have bottles of their DNA, so I could clone them easily. It would take a few years for them to grow back into the men they are today, but thanks to genetic modification, I can easily enhance their sex appeal.

Coldplay's Closest Attempt To Make A "Perfect Song"
Amsterdam is - in my humble opinion - a flawless song. It's beautiful, it builds up to a great climax, it's one of Coldplay strongest songs lyrically, and it's the perfect closer to a fantastic album.

2003 In Review >.< (Complete with several emoticons and hardly any description!)
D'oh, how could I have forgotten about Final Straw? Still SP's best album. Also forgot about Travis, though probably because I felt 12 Memories was a misstep. Travis's weakest album to date IMO.

The Offical "The Killers" Thread
I completely understand why they wanted to keep matters a little private about Brandon's mother, and I think it's disgusting how people took the vaguely-termed "family illness" as a made-up excuse to not play. I understand their anguish about canceled gigs, but a few of the things I read across the Internet were outright inappropriate. Now that we do know what the terrible matter was, Brandon probably still needs a little more time off. Hopefully some good can come out of this, as stated above. Heck, maybe in addition to the band rethinking things, the fans can too. (I do apologize if that sounded sappy as hell. :dozey:)

I prefer HTTT over Amnesiac. So sue me. Sure, a few tracks could have been cut, but it was the album that first introduced me to Radiohead, and it's filled to the brim with great songs (including "There There", a personal favorite). (I actually admit to being a bit tired of reading about Radiohead, but at least that's it until 2007. :P) My overall favorite album from the year is probably The Postal Service's "Give Up" (every time someone brings up an Owl City comparison, my response is "Yeah, except The Postal Service actually made good music"), but I feel the need to mention "Absolution" by Muse, which is my favorite album from them and - from my view - the style they should seek to replicate in the future. "Butterflies & Hurricanes" remains my favorite Muse song. Somewhat on the topic of The Postal Service (I guess) is "Transatlanticism" by Death Cab for Cutie, which was their breakthrough album and the best DCFC album according to many, though I personally prefer "Plans". We've also got "Old World Underground, Where Are You Now?" by Metric, which I actually hadn't listened to until last year. I haven't listened to Frengers so I should probably post this part in really small print and maybe run and duck from flying debris.

Umm...WTF? Re-releasing earlier singles isn't unheard of in the music world, but I'm surprised to see a new video for it as well. On that note, I think I like the original video better. :\ Maybe it'll give the Leona Lewis fans another chance to hear Run in its original form. :dozey: Speaking of SP re-releases/remakes, I can't decide which version of Olive Grove I like better. Obviously the vocals are stronger for the Up To Now release, but I kinda like the chorus instrumental better in the original. Meh, I like both of 'em.

The BRITs 2010 Thread
All the more reason not to show up. I said Oasis was looking like a likely winner at the beginning of this thread, and I still stand by it (as much as I'd rather see Coldplay win). Hell, I'd love to see both Noel and Liam there just for the awkward moment.

2002: in review
2002 is a year I'm still discovering music from. (Yankee Hotel Foxtrot is still rather new to me, for instance) Besides the obvious favorite (AROBTTH), I think my favorite album from this year is Turn on the Bright Lights. I really hope this rumored upcoming Interpol album can capture the same magic, because while their second and third albums were decent, they were nowhere close to its prestige.

If Coldplay did a live session for just you...
No massive crowd = No Fix You or Viva La Vida. The crowd sing-alongs define those. Yellow Clocks The Scientist Amsterdam A Rush of Blood to the Head White Shadows Talk Speed of Sound Swallowed in the Sea Lovers in Japan Strawberry Swing Life in Technicolor II See You Soon Sparks Not necessarily in that order.

Weird Al should make a polka version of Viva La Vida...
His popularity peaked in the 90's, but "White & Nerdy" in 2006 was still a huge hit. He's been more involved in non-music projects lately, though. It's funny, because not only did I meet Al randomly one day at Universal Studios (totally nice guy), but I've talked to like 3 or 4 people who said they've also met him at random theme parks.

I'm still waiting for my all-out Coldplay parody from Weird Al. I hear he's finally in the studio again.

Liam Gallagher Ditches Oasis 2.0 Moniker: “That Was a Shit Name Anyway”
The impression I got was that he thought simply "Oasis" was a shit name. This guy's a total riot.

What Was The Last TV Show You Watched?
Watched "Chuck" for the first time the other night. It was interesting (it wasn't one of those shows where you have no idea what's going on if you jump in the middle) but I don't see myself continuing to watch it regularly.

Has anybody read The Great Gatsby?
The Great Gatsby is required reading in a good chunk of American high schools. Definitely a bizarre but great read, but you don't begin to really appreciate it until you understand all the crazy symbolism and all that. In fact, it can be boring if you don't understand a lot of it. If you want another "required HS reading-type" book, I'd recommend One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. Some of my mandatory high school reads were dreadful, but that one's a personal favorite and is considered a classic.

Arcade Fire
"Wake Up" makes anything good, whether it's trailers for children's book adaptations or if it's generic NFL ads.

** 2010 Top 75 Coldplay Song List - The Results**
The Scientist regains the crown! While not my personal favorite, I'll take it. :) Thanks for conducting the poll and taking the time to calculate the final results! :D
