These are great questions, but I wish they were asked in a free response format as opposed to multiple choice. Anyhow, this might be one of the toughest questions ever. For me, I guess it would be Bono, who just happens to be on the list (also considered Bruce Springsteen and Eddie Vedder). I am sure that we will get many responses that are different from the 4 choices that were provided. Certainly you must consider names like Freddie Mercury or Mick Jagger. Although I like both the Rolling Stones and Queen, I am not a fanatic. Who you are exposed to and happen to like will greatly influence your choice.

For me, it is "Human Nature." It always reminds me that beyond all the dancing and showmanship, the boy could simply sing. Thriller is such a fucking great album. It's amazing and sad how I appreciate it so much more today.

Say what you want about his problems, he was the greatest entertainer I've ever seen. I'm sad today.

I really have high hopes for the 4th album. I think the break was good for them. I don't know how popular the album will be, but I expect it to have good music. The Strokes are very lucky to have two good song writers in Julian and Albert. Perhaps the time apart will have given them time to grow. We'll see...

I love the Strokes. First two albums were really good. The third one was spotty, but "You Only Live Once" is probably my all-time favorite Strokes song. Can't wait for the new album. Hopefully, it will stop the fairly recent decline in popularity and album sales they have experienced. I'll buy it no matter what...

That's absolutely correct about Revolver (or at least from what I've read...I wasn't around then). :) The reason for the comparisons are 1) they were contemporaries of each other, 2) several music lists rank both albums in the top 5 of all time, and 3) the interplay of influences. It's only natural to compare. I actually prefer Pet Sounds to Sgt. Peppers. A Day in the Life is amazing, but the rest of the album does not do it for me. There are many other Beatles albums that I prefer (such as Rubber Soul). Even if they are not as innovative, I just like the vibe better. I also happen to think Brian Wilson is a genius, and I know Paul McCartney is on board with that one. As long as we are listing the greatest classic rock songs, we mind as well throw Good Vibrations and Wouldn't It Be Nice into the mix. Brian's ability to arrange music is top notch, and no group harmonizes better than the Beach Boys. They are so under appreciated, but I am sure that will change once he passes away and people start to reflect back. Just my two cents.

Yeah, but you can't do that...because then you have to say that the Beach Boys' "Pet Sounds" is the greatest. Without Pet Sounds, there is no Sgt. Peppers. It's a slippery slope.

What's the definition of "classic rock." My classic rock station played Guns N' Roses the other day. I was like, "holy crap, that's now considered classic rock." Time sure flies. Edit: Haha...I just saw the other thread talking about this very issue.

Hard choice...U2, R.E.M., RHCP, and Radiohead were all great...but my favorite album of the 90s was Pearl Jam's "Ten." It might be my favorite album ever.

What's wrong with that statement? I agree, White Stripes have good chemistry. If you don't agree, that's fine. But there is no need to be condescending.

1. I do think White Stripes are an awesome band. 2. Meg is hot except for her teeth. I would expect to find those teeth in the mouth of Keith Richards. 3. I am not brave enough to predict a new White Stripes album. I have not read of anyone knowing anything, so I am still waiting to hear something (if there is anything to be heard).

Where did I say I didn't like Meg White? Could you please show me? I think I'll keep listening to what I want irrespective of your advice. All I said is that Meg is not a skilled musician. Nothing more, nothing less. I like the White Stripes just fine.

^ I didn't say White Stripes would be a better band. 1) She would not do fine in another band. She is not a good musician. 2) She is a far worse musician than the others that you mentioned. I could play the drums in Blue Orchid, and I don't even know how...

^ Your comment makes it sound like Meg keeps it simple by choice. While it may work for White Stripe songs, it's not like she really has any other alternative. Meg is not really holding back anything...

I don't get the fascination with this woman. It's like people have had an epiphany that there are unattractive women out there who can sing. I didn't need Susan Boyle to teach me this fact. This speaks more about narrow mindedness of society and less about her. Think about all the other unattractive women who are never given the same platform as her.

^ I actually like Pablo Honey a lot. I know a lot of people consider it their weakest work (I might even agree with that), but it fits in with a lot of the stuff I was listening to at the time. I love that 90s alternative sound, which Pablo Honey tapped into before Radiohead became somthing that is really not comarable to anything else.

I don't think music is as good now. While there is crap in every musical era, there has always been an elite group of shining lights who are leading the way. How many shining lights have there been over the last 10 years? Sorry, I will put the best artists of the 60s, 70s, 80s, or 90s up against the best to come out of the 21st century any day of the week.

I am a big Smith's fan. I would love to list a bunch of songs, but if it's only one, then it has to be "There is a light that never goes out".
