Okay, I LOLed so hard at the pic of Locke about to hang himself. I sort of feel this way. I'm a Coldplay fan, through and through. I was a fan when Parachutes was first released and I have stuck with them through the following albums. I remember the first time I heard God Put a Smile On Your Face and A Whisper. I'll be honest. I HATED those songs. In comparison to the other songs on that album, I thought they were crap. I always skipped over them to get to the next song. But....now I adore them and think they are fantastic. There were also songs off X&Y I really couldn't stand, but really like them now. Granted, I wasn't too crazy about ETIAW....and now Paradise. It's just okay. And don't get me started on Rihanna dueting with them on PoC. But....I think, just with AROBTH and X&Y there will be songs I don't care for, but over time I will either grow to like them or learn to like them. I will give MX a chance. Right now, I don't know if it will be my favorite album from them thus far, but I have stuck with them since the beginning. I feel like I have evolved with them and it makes me feel closer to their music and what they accomplish. That's what makes them my favorite. And really, if it wasn't for Coldplay, I wouldn't have broadened my horizons and discovered Radiohead and Muse and a few other bands that I have grown to love. I can't say that I'm a true fan of those bands, though, because I wasn't a fan from the start. But I have that with Coldplay.

Ooooo! I'm loving it!! Wasn't sure I liked how it started, but once the drums came in...it was pure epicness! ETA: She sounds a bit different, I think. Could be the way her voice is mixed with the instrumentals and backing vocals, but if I was just a casual listener, it would be hard for me to distinguish that it's Florence.

Just for future reference, pop artist and popular are two totally different things. Pop, when referring to music, is a specific style. So, when you want to say someone is popular, just say "popular." :)

I'll agree. Most of my favorite Coldplay tunes are B-sides.

Jay Z is not a pop artist. He's a rapper. Period. Rihanna has no talent. There are so many other worthy, talented ladies he could have collaborated with.

Rihanna? Seriously? Geez, Chris Martin! You could've chosen anyone!! You chose someone who can't even sing live without the help of autotune! Why not Sia or Regina Spektor or Sara Bareilles or Tori Amos?! I'm so icked out right now. As much as I hate Lady Gaga, I would've rather seen her sing with Coldplay. ETA: I hated the JayZ collaboration. HATED. I banished that song off my iPod. And if Chris and Jay are such good friends, then why not have Beyonce do the female part!?! She can at least sing.

That's a pretty astute observation. I never thought of it that way...it makes sense. Okay, well if this was their intention, then I can be happy with that. They did give us MTM and we are getting HLH and CB, so...I guess I can live with Paradise.

I don't think it matters that ETIAW has been out for awhile. When I first heard MTM, I immediately connected with it and it became my most favorite song from this era thus far. I would rate MTM over anything I've heard from this new album so far. I voted ETIAW. It's catchier. But, they are both middle of the road for me. I'll tolerate a few songs like ETIAW...and Paradise, but please....I hope that is it. I'm already a little ill that ETIAW made the album, so now we have two synthpoppy songs on the album. Let's hope that's all there is.

Eh...I've listened to it several times and I'll give it a 6. On the first listen I would've said a 4, but the more I've listened to it, it's kind of gone up, but I don't think it's ever going to get above a 6 for me. I can appreciate what they are trying to do, but I'm just wondering how it's going to translate to being played live. ETA: I'm a bit sad that Coldplay is going the synthpop route. Don't get me wrong, they do it well, but all the acts out there I can't stand are all synthpop acts. Maybe I'm a hipster as the memes suggest. I should put on my black hipster glasses and start complaining that Coldplay is too mainstream. haha! I'll be honest, when I first heard this, all I could think was, "Oh, I'm sure the club kids who like to party in the clubs are going to go crazy for this and it's remixes." Do. Not. Want.
