  2. No, you're right. I meant the Rimsky-Korsakov version. I wasn't paying attention when I wrote the post out. And yep...I play horn. I'm a freelance musician.

  4. No, no! I wouldn't say reprimanded....maybe got the eye roll and a sigh. ;) EDIT: Yes, I LOVE Rimsky-Korsakov's "Scheherzade!" I've been fortunate to perform that twice. Once playing principal horn and then another time playing third horn. **Edited for my absent-mindedness.
  5. It's intriguining, but not really my cup of tea. I remember having to compose our own tone rows back in college, a la Schoenberg, and I always made my tone rows consonant instead of dissonant.
  6. I have those on CD! Also from that same CD is one of my favorite impressionistic pieces by Debussy called "Nocturnes" This is the movement of that piece called "Nuages". It's hauntingly beautiful. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i3ch1GfmLkw]YouTube- Part 1 - Stokowski - Debussy Nocturnes-Nuages 1940[/ame] I'm also partial to Tschaikowsky's symphonies...particularly symphonies #4 and #5. Rachmaninoff's piano concertos are amazing, too. The song "All By Myself" is actually derived from his 2nd piano concerto. And the Brahms symphonies are also lovely. As a horn player, I tend to err towards music from the Romantic period because that is all the good stuff for horn.
  7. Oh, well.....then...carry on. :) Sorry...sarcasm is a lost cause for me when it comes to the internet. *shrugs*
  8. I would say "The Hardest Part" but....that screaming chick did kind of ruin it for me. Why did she even scream there? I really liked the line during "Fix You"................"500 meters from the band at a Coldplay show."

  11. I'm not saying one is better than the other because I don't know enough about guitar to say, but I don't get why people think it's so "badass" when guitar players treat their guitars like lassos and clubs. He looks stupid. And that's a waste of a fine instrument. Just my opinion, though. It's the instrumentalist in me talking. I'd never walk onstage, play my horn, and then start throwing it up in the air like a moron to impress people.
  12. I voted "both." I like them both for different reasons and refuse to choose between them.

  15. I forgot to add that I did cry when Wilson floated away. Just the first time I saw the movie, though. It was one of those moments for me that was only sad the first time you saw the movie. True story: Back when I was in high school and Romeo + Juliet came out, my best friend and her boyfriend and I all went to watch it. Okay, everybody I know has read Romeo and Juliet and knows how it ends, but without fail, after Claire Danes discovers that Leonardo DiCaprio has just poisoned himself and then offs herself with his gun, I suddenly heard quiet sniffling. I looked over at my friend to see if she was crying. No tears. So, we both looked over to our left and saw her boyfriend just bawling his eyes out. We couldn't help but laugh a little. It was the dude who was weepy.
  16. Oh gah...me, too. :\ It was so bad for me that I thought I might have to leave the theater because I my breathing was starting to hitch due to how hard I was crying. The people sitting next to me started to stare. But, in my defense, I saw the movie when I was 7 months pregnant with my 2nd and I blame the hormones.
