:wacky: I'm in love with that movie; it's so wonderful, and Yann Tiersen's music is just gorgeous.

MuseWeek Day 5: The Resistance
You did a great job, Christina! :nice: This isn't my favorite album of theirs, but I still like how Muse tried a few new styles. I think the Exogensis Symphony is quite fantastic, and I'd personally love to see them (or just Matt?) compose more instrumental pieces with a full symphony. I like Undisclosed Desires. A LOT. The melody and lyrics are sexy. The first three seconds with the string plucking and drum machine completely grabbed my attention when I first heard it. :wideeyed: I love the vocal layering during the chorus, and Matt vocalizing in the background in the last chorus. Sometimes, I still can't help but laugh when he sings "PLEEEEAAASE MEEE". Overall, it's great to see the boys trying a new style, whether it works or not (we'll leave that up to the listeners' own opinions). I Belong to You is such a fun song. I love like the handclaps, jazzy piano, clarinet, and how Matt sings the "oooohhh" at the end of each verse/chorus/thing (the way his voice climbs up the scale).

I know this sounds weird, but I can't stop staring at Dom's legs in that photo. And Matt actually looks tall in that pic.

That's a possibility! Still waiting on some real confirmation that Coldplay will perform on the show.

MuseWeek Day 4: Black Holes and Revelations
That's pretty cool of Dan, I guess. :D Ah, I see; the double reeds are much more difficult to play. (Again with my lack of knowledge on wind instruments. :blank:) Thanks, Christina! Looks like you do learn something new every day.

MuseWeek Day 4: Black Holes and Revelations
Aw, really? I'm guessing that's not proper technique, right? That's okay; Dan still gets an A+ from me! Even though I'm not an expert on trumpet-playing. :lipsrsealed2: I think the clarinet and flute are my favorite wind instruments. :nice: They sound really nice! I remember someone telling me that oboe is one of the most difficult instruments, since you have to blow into a really small mouthpiece and still produce a lot of sound. :dizzy:

MuseWeek Day 4: Black Holes and Revelations
Me too, me too! I like SMBH! :D I know it can get repetitive and is probably overplayed, but it just has a great groove to it. I like the live versions more, when Matt changes up the guitar parts (like in HAARP). And I thought your trumpet story was cute. It does look like a really hard instrument to play! Wind instruments look really difficult; I'm impressed by people who can play 'em.

MuseWeek Day 4: Black Holes and Revelations
Trumpet love! :awesome: And yep, Man with a Harmonica is a great intro to lead into Knights. Chris and his harmonica.

MuseWeek Day 4: Black Holes and Revelations
OH! I forgot. Can I just say how much I love the trumpet in Knights of Cydonia? Specifically in HAARP. I know it's only there for, like, six seconds, but it sounds perfect for this particular spaghetti-Western-space-cowboy-whatnot song. Yeah . . . EDIT: Scratch that. More like twenty seconds.

Coldplay lined up to play at American Music Awards? (21-Nov-2010)
This does kind of seem out-of-the-blue. But I'm still very excited to see the boys (all together!) again. :nice: The thought of them playing a new song makes my brain go a little crazy.

MuseWeek Day 4: Black Holes and Revelations
You did a great job! Thanks for posting. :D I still can't really get into the last half of BHAR. :shame: But I really, really adore the first half. MAP OF THE PROBLEMATIQUE. I personally think this is the best song off of BHAR. It's truly amazing, and the instrumental arrangement is quite gorgeous. Once the drums kick in, the song just completely grabs my attention. I like how Soldier's Poem sounds like this sweet, relaxing song, and yet the lyrics have a tone of bitterness to it ("There's no justice in the world / And there never was"). I love the guitar in Exo-Politics. The beat is so catchy. I used to not care much for Hoodoo, but after watching it on HAARP (love the piano), it's starting to grow on me. You can really feel Matt's emotions through his singing and lyrics. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ughBjosWQak]YouTube - Muse - Hoodoo [Live From Wembley Stadium][/ame]

MuseWeek, Day 3: Absolution
I did not know that! I think I like Fury a tad bit more than The Small Print. I wonder if replacing The Small Print with Fury would have changed the flow of the album in any way . . . even if it's just one song. Actually, I don't know which song works better. At least we have both.

MuseWeek, Day 3: Absolution
Fantastic post, Violet! :D By the way, thanks so much for organizing Muse week. Absolution might not be my favorite album of theirs (super close, though!), but I can definitely say that this is Muse's best album. If that makes sense. The thing I really like about Absolution is the range; it has a handful of great rock songs with amazing guitar riffs and solos (e.g., Hysteria), along with the more melodic, gorgeous songs (e.g., Blackout). TIRO was the first Muse song I was obsessed with. After the first listen, I was hooked. It's ridiculously catchy, and I like the urgency and intensity of the lyrics. Sing for Absolution is definitely in my top three Muse songs. The melody and instrumentation is quite breathtaking, and Matt's voice at the end when he starts singing "Our wounds remain unrectified" pretty much tears my heart in two. And yes, that was a cheesy way of describing it, but it's true. Butterflies & Hurricanes. Gah, there are so many great things about it. The piano interlude, the strings (), the vocal harmonies, they all just makes this song work. I think it's one of their best songs, especially musically. I actually have the remixed version with the additional guitar on my iTunes; sadly, you can't hear the vocal harmonies that well, and the guitar overpowers the piano in the last ten seconds or so, but I still like it a lot. EDIT: Oh, and there's something about the Intro and Apocalypse Please that really gets me. It just gives me shivers when the marching leads straight into the pounding piano chords. Great album opening.

MuseWeek Day 2: Origin of Symmetry
Great post! :) This is definitely my favorite Muse album. All the songs work really well together. I love the rawness of it, the guitar riffs, and how you can hear the classical influences beginning to seep in (e.g., Space Dementia). My top three would be Bliss, Plug In Baby, and Darkshines (I'm kind of in love with Chris' bass on this song :awesome:).

I have the opening guitar riff of MK Ultra as my ringtone too! And I'm gonna make Muse's Popcorn cover a ringtone for my best friend. :awesome: Off the top of my head: -Sing for Absolution -Cave -Plug In Baby -Time Is Running Out Does Hyper Chondriac Music count as an acoustic version of Hyper Music? There should be more on YouTube as well. :)

MuseWeek Day 1: Showbiz
The live version of "Sunburn" featured as a b-side was recorded in Vienna on 2nd May 2000 . . . source: http://www.musewiki.org/Sunburn_%28single%29 Fantastic job, Carla! My three favorite songs from Showbiz are Muscle Museum, Showbiz, and Uno. The song Showbiz is just so intense, and I love how it builds up from the drums and bass at the beginning (that IS a bass, right? :embarrassed:) and then practically explodes. Matt's singing and falsetto are just incredible. I'm really happy that the boys played Cave several times during their current tour; I'm in love with the piano version.

The Muse Thread - Hate This & I'll Hate You
Not even Knights of Cydonia. :disappointed: Funny thing though is if I ever see Muse live, I'd still rock out like crazy to the song. As much as I like Supermassive Black Hole, I definitely wouldn't mind if they took it off the setlist. :P

The Muse Thread - Hate This & I'll Hate You
For me, I really like Take a Bow, Starlight, Supermassive Black Hole, and Map of the Problematique (LOVE THIS SONG ). Exo-Politics has a great beat. Hoodoo is kind of growing on me. I just can't get into the other songs. :\

Double post; sorry. I only like half the songs on that album. :blank: Are there any songs that you do like on Black Holes?
