  2. That was my first ever coldplay concert, and I'd like to say I thought it was amazing. When those wristbands came on during charlie brown, I almost fainted with excitement. Yeah, it rained a lot, but in some ways it made the strobe lights look cooler, and in fact it brought everyone together a bit more. Viva chant, as at all live gigs, was huge, and I loved that in fix you when Will came in, chris jumped and fireworks erupted, it was.... magnificent.
  3. He sang it during a hopeful transmission :)
  4. Compare it to yellow; although yellow is a happy(ish) song, the video is set on a rainy beach. On the other hand, paradise is a happy/sad song (although she is trapped, she dos find an escape), the music video is very happy, especially towards the end. Maybe talk about how in the last 11 years, coldplay's videos have shifted from very basic and sad to quite elaborate and happy (the unicycle alone makes it difficult to refilm!). I'm sure there's other links in there, but i just gave you something to start thinking about, if you want to of course :)
  5. Same here. Great song, but the boys chose not to include it for a reason. And tbh, I quite likePoC too. So I think I'd go with their decision to pick certain other songs over MTM. Would you much rather DLIBYH was left off, or UWTB? I certainly wouldn't. :shocked2:
  6. Awful lyrics. U.F.O's lyrics, as Rvs_009 said, are half missing! Where are the ohoohhooohoohs i always luagh when I see them written down :o
  7. Same here. Find the second half, from U.F.O. onwards a lot more interesting because I've heard all the others before. AHT/DLIBYH/UWTB all have the most plays, by almost double. I can't play one without playing all three. :D
  8. Amazing song, best on the album. And when you get the triple threat of AHT/DLIBYH/UWTB then it's mind blowing. :D
  9. Just played spanish rain chords on guitar, and put in the DLIBYH lyrics. They totally fit, bar one chord which is added to the chorus. You, my sir, are totally right
  10. One thing I just noticed in the UK iTunes store is that Mylo Xyloto is both first and second! How has that happened?
  11. 95k all ready, after one day? :shocked2: Holy coldplayers Batman. I know the rate will slow, but this is good for the band :D
  12. AROBTTH. But MX is so close, at 9.0 to 8.5 respectively. Depends if I'm in a more individual mood or group song mood. Because individually, ARBOTTH, but MX is much better as a total album (a whisper kills it ).
  13. Track by track: >Mylo Xyloto/Hurts Like Heaven - Fast, up tempo and exciting. Love the weird voice sounds in the backround of "Yes I feel a little bit nervous". >Paradise - I liked this song as a single. And I like it on the album even more. But even so, there's something about it I can't put my finger on that makes me feel it isn't in the right place. Strings amazing though. >Charlie Brown - Good, miss the live bit of "light a fire" with them all shouting it. but otherwise, the whole track feels better than live, and the strings/piano duet at the end really reaches me. >Us Against The World - Arguably the slowest moment on the album. Love the song, love the guitar, but it doesn't really work for me until Will comes in. >MMIX/ETIAW - MMIX is such a gift to Every tear. It gives it that sense of epic buildup from the quiet at the end of UATW, and all the noodlings make the whole song more enjoyable. The resolve of the chords gives me shivers, but all in all, I can't help but smile. >Major Minus - The song of rock. The sirens and Johnny's guitar make this song, but it's the bass I'm really rooting with. The slide makes me jiggle as the song is on. But again, something I can't quite put my finger on makes this song feel a bit disjointed. I love it, but I think that the transition from ETIAW to MM is too sudden. I know that on the Vinyl, this problem will be solved, as the two sections of the story will be separated. But currently not enjoying it as much as I should. >U.F.O. - Short but sweet. Love it. Second favourite song on the album, with the MX riff introduced very explicitly at the end. >Princess of China - I for one, like this track. I hate rhianna with a vengance, but it actually works. At least I respect her now. A little too little Chris, but the synths make up for it. >Up In Flames - The drums make me cringe. I know it's supposed to be minimalistic, but they feel as if they should build, but never do. Until the second chorus, not loving this song. Won't skip it though, because the "Can we pour some water on?" line brings a tear to my eye. >A Hopeful Transmission/ Don't Let It Break Your Heart - Best bit of the album. Despite not being able to hear Chris' voice very well, it is "Violently life-affirming" as R42 puts it. The heartbeat adds that extra touch throughout both songs, and just makes me grin with sheer happiness. >Up with the Birds - Not sure about this yet. Makes me think of a guy (Mylo?) about to commit suicide in the first half, by jumping off a bridge. But then he gets off the edge and starts running along it in the second, realising he still has a chance, with life (and Xyloto?) or whatever. Like it. Good ending to the album. Overall - I too would give it an 8.5 out of 10. I can hear the story, or at least my version of it, although I get a bit lost somewhere between Charlie Brown and U.F.O. Even so, feels very filmic. My favourite thing is the repeated melody from MX though, hidden at various points of the album. U.F.O. and AHT/DLIBYH are my highlights, although HLH is a close 3rd. If you haven't bought it yet, buy it now :D
  14. Because we've waited three years for this album, and it'll feel so much more satisfying knowing we've waited that little bit extra :D it may be a week's worth of agony, but in 15 years we'll always remember that we held out, and let the hype grow naturally, rather than cutting it short :D Sorry.
  15. Was just thinking the same thing. SSSSSOOOOOOOOO many people complaining about how they can't hear Chris, and I'm thinking "Why didn't you just wait till the final mix?" :laugh3: When I hear this album, it'll make me appreciate it a lot more :dozey:
  16. Actually, I like it too. I'd say we're in the majority of people who like it, or don't mind it. there seems to be about 10% of people who detest it, thats all. :D
  17. So far (haven't heard the leak); 1. AROBTTH 2. MX 3. Viva/Para-para-parachutes 4. X&Y Would like to point out though, I do like lots of the songs on X&Y. It's just the length that annoys me :/
  18. Was going to refuse to listen to any of it. Then accidentally heard Princess of China. Hopefully, if I Mp3 that from youtube, then I'll listen to that and all the live versions to get me through the week. Roll on the 24th. I'm up for it.
  19. 100 billion percent agree. We've been told this is going to be a much better album to listen to as a whole. At the very least, I want to hear UFO, DLIBYH and UWTB within the confines of the record first.

Thats what i was hoping for :) I don't think it's a bad thing, just that just in case it turns out to be like it, then people don't rage saying there was no warning that it was coming :L

    Thanks :)

The lyrics "The birds, they sang at break of day/Start again, I hear them say" pop up in Q magazines review of the album. Seeing as a writers credit to this track is towards Leonard Cohen, I've forever been thinking "What if it's hallelujah?". These lyrics fit to the melody line "I heard there was a broken chord/that david played and it pleased the lord". Do you think Coldplay have used Hallelujah as their sample? Sorry, this accidentally got posted in the DLIBYH sub forum. Ooops :S
  23. I'm not sure whether that's just a surprisingly good coincidence or whether they actually do spell MX! The X is easy to see, but the M is a little more vague :/
  24. "Through chaos as it swirls, it's just us against the world" Pretty much sums it up!!
