I'm bleeding from my face because I don't think this album title is very good.
^ I read that too! I just loved how he described that! And Dear ApproximatelyInfinite, my opinion doesn't really matter, but I just love reading your posts . I would like to say this though: I think even though Viva sounded more produced than the rest of the albums, Chris's songwriting really improved and evolved. Songs like 42, Cemeteries Of London, and Yes (although sometimes drowned-out with too many synthesizers and other instruments) were very different and unorthodox from previous Coldplayesque music. If Coldplay took Chris's writing now and simplified the production, it'd be their best work yet (In my opinion)! Personally, I wish they wrote more songs like Violet Hill and Death And All His Friends. :)

Coldplay: Greatest downfall in the history of music?
Well, honestly, that's the way it's always going to be. Not every fan is going to like their new stuff, and can you honestly say Viva La Vida is a terrible direction for the band?
-
What are your thoughts about their new single?
^I think we'll be disappointed because we're putting our expectations too high, so when it comes out everyone will think it sucks.

Coldplay: Greatest downfall in the history of music?
Put things simple: Huge bands evolve for new audiences. Get over it. I'd rather have something different than have the same thing over and over again.

LP1,2,3 OR LP4,5
love both eras, but probably one, two, and three more.

I'm bleeding from my face because I don't think this album title is very good.
When Viva La Vida came out, I didn't like it but now it's probably my favorite. I thought the same exact things most of you guys are thinking now, "They're changing too much! They're not the same!" but after a year I got over it because Viva La Vida is awesome and always will be! The songs were new, they were creative, they had substance, and deserved so much more than "They've changed, I don't like them!". I've been a Coldplay fan for a long time and even though I didn't like VLV at first, they STILL were/are pretty much all I listen to. :D For most of you this album gives you that feeling of apprehension because you're scared (ETIAW)... but really?!?! HLH? CB? PoC? UATW? MM? Do they really suck that bad to you? You haven't even heard the rest on the album! Seriously, I know it's hard when you don't want to, but you just have to open up. Nostalgia gets better with time, maybe if you open up this album will be apart of those special memories. :) Now I'm not comparing musical style in any way (EDIT: don't want to go down that road again, I just realized what thread this is), I'm just using this example: I've talked to people from the eighties who stopped listening to U2 when they released The Unforgettable Fire because they 'changed' too much. Boy, what an awesome show they missed... Now we're all entitled to our own opinions, and if the music legitimately sucks and is disliked by everyone (including me), then I'll personally eat my words and say Coldplay sucks now. But, even with the release of ETIAW and the studio version of MM (which really don't suck that bad), that won't happen quite yet... because they still released MTM, which indicates they still got it. ;) So I guess what I'm trying to say is: lighten up! Don't change your expectations till you've heard the whole thing in full glory! :D (BTW, maybe we've gone a biiiiit off topic...lol)

^We haven't received a tracklist. There's a large possibility you've heard a good chunk, but till then it's speculation. Don't get your hopes down. The next single they're releasing is a song we haven't heard yet.

Lol... I hope you got the analogy.

What score will Pitchfork give Coldplay?
Pitchfork seems to appeal to the subculture hipster movement. I wish there was a counter-culture movement (unlike hipsters) that valued subjectivity as the real way to express individuality... But that'd be like herding cats.

Mylo Xyloto official press release - two different artwork on CDs!!!
The worst part of it was that it took me about 5 minutes to realize it was August 16th when I woke up. It felt so... real. I can't take Coldplay's torture anymore :cry2:.

Am I the only one who disagrees with the MX promotion?
^^ Heck no! You sound like a sensible observer! I'm upset if that's the direction the music is starting to head in (selling singles instead of albums). I wonder if that could be stopped though? Maybe if artists waited longer to perfect their material they plan to release on album people might be attracted to buying the whole thing.

Am I the only one who disagrees with the MX promotion?
^ I totally see what you're saying... I don't know if any of the kids my age do this, but I find that IF three or four songs from the album are great, I'll buy the album as a whole. I did that with The Suburbs and Sigh No More. If I like one song from the same artist, I'm going to look for more good songs by them. I guess my question for you is this: Do you think other people my age do this?
-
Am I the only one who disagrees with the MX promotion?
^ I completely agree! Kids my age, with the music accessibility now available, buy music like it's a hit of cocaine. People now focus on the singles and not the albums as a whole. I think Coldplay's just adjusting to the changing music industry. They released the ETIAW single to get everyone thinking about Coldplay again, and now they're playing new songs live. I think their benefit is starting early with this promo. Who knows, if Mylo Xyloto is good enough, every song could be a pop-magnet. So far Hurts Like Heaven, Charlie Brown, Princess Of China and ETIAW are getting people extremely excited because they're REALLY good. If their first decision is to release a single that we haven't even heard before, there must be some confidence in that single to get popular! And if the songs we've heard so far are any indication to how the album might end up, I have a lot of hope that Coldplay will not ruin their already outstanding reputation that Viva La Vida made with kids my age. (I can tell you right now a lot of kids became acquainted with Coldplay after that album was released).
