  1. My couple of cents: 1) The new terminology used makes the War on Terror and the reasons for it vaguer than ever... How convenient  2) They've finally recognised the "evolving nature" of the struggle and the need to win hearts and minds as well. D'oh! But I guess some progress is better than none (again ) 3) Wading even deeper into the ideological war will make it more difficult for you guys to extract yourselves from the Iraq war. Now he can't remove troops until the war is done. I do sympathise with your soldiers and their friends & families. Well apart from that, what else about Bush is new :dozey:
  2. ^^ I really, really love Jonny's eyes
  3. The Scientist Sweets or chocolate?
  4. Haha... Funnily enough I don't think they're the ONLY music company that does that. Next we might see EMI with Coldplay splashed acrossed the front pages. (Only joking) The fact that there's so much trash out there getting so much airplay definitely points toward foulplay (pun intended :D)
  5. ^ That'd be your backyard? :D Don't think it'd be big enough though :wink3:
  6. Yum... Chocolates. Chris' fave! *gives some to JaK*
  7. Savage garden
  8. Read the interview on e-zine 14 http://www.coldplay.com/content/ezine/documents/ezine14.pdf Excerpt from p7... Again for me, my favourites are the tracks that are the most departure from the last 2 albums. Was the departure deliberate or as a result of what you were listening to at the time? C (Chris): It’s just trying to do things that keep you excited. I’m obviously at a strange point at the moment cos it’s the day before the album comes out. We’ve spent 2 months talking about it and the only reaction I’ve got is from critics you know. Some of it’s been incredible and some of it’s been terrible so I’m really confused about it. But I know that every song that’s on the record has something about it that I thought, ‘we haven’t done this before’, similarly we also stayed true to the same ideals that we had on the last album. I see it as the end of a trilogy to be honest. I see the first 3 as one collection of songs. Does that mean that you already know where you are going next? C: No, I just know that........ (long pause) That you’ve come full circle? C: Yeah. I think so. All I'm trying to say is... It might just be possible that they will look and go a whole new direction in the album(s) after this. I sure as hell do know that they can do more than what they've put in their albums so far! After X&Y they would have proven that they can be "big", make very mainstream music and sell many records. After which, they might be inclined to try out their hand at being "exciting" (i.e. original) and cutting-edge/avant-garde. We might finally see then how far their creative powers can stretch.
  9. Actually they have had that... There are 2 "documentaries" of their albums (actually make that at least 3, including SoS)... The making of AROBTTH and also one for X&Y (with NME). All of them free whether you want them or not... shown on TV or downloadable if you take the trouble to look. They also had footage of the recording process on their official site (with the guys milling around although there was no sound). Then they had the Live 2003 DVD- I would argue that what they were selling was mainly the concert footage (note the title  ) while the other tour footage should be considered "bonus"... Either way (free or not), I'm not too bothered with the price I paid for it- 60 bucks local currency for DVD quality concert + live footage + CD when a music CD by itself goes for over 40 bucks. Like I said earlier, I think the recording process at the studio is off-limits... they might think it's unprofessional/too private. Same thing with live recordings... I may be over-defending them, but I think that basically the guys are just too self-conscious of themselves to release some live tracks together with their album when there's so much other material they've left off. It'd be pretty hypocritical to say you've recorded 20 ace songs for the album and left off 9 because of lack of space but then add on 3 live tracks instead- these live tracks also become copy-righted material. And I think also they don't want to "short-change" fans by including sub-standard live recordings of album songs together with their studio album. They released Live 2003... I think this was a right choice as it gave them better production and sound quality for their live performances.

Actually, I don't know your country too well... I only know it from the Miss Universe pageants I used to watch as a kid. And the name does remind me of Guinness Malt :P Sorry if I'm wrong but you guys are a South/Latin American country right? Tell us more about country :D
  11. Well, I have to say I don't know U2 too well... But after having seen U2 at Live8, I do feel a tad disturbed that Coldplay seem to be following U2's mould a bit too much. Seeing Bono bounding around the stage gave me deja vou ... Maybe it's just Chris doing the copying... But lately Jonny's guitar-playing mannerisms when playing live do look like the Edge. Or is it somehow possible that it's the other way round- U2 are copying Coldplay? One thing I will say in defence of CP... U2 will never manage the intimacy and tenderness of their accoustic songs
  12. Yeah Yeah Yeahs
  13. The type of content could be better I suppose... But that's personal, I'm sure there are many people who would rather have this. Besides, it's a pretty diverse bunch of stuff.. Making's of, stuff from their crew, unreleased songs/covers, fun stuff they do on the side... It shows a more personal side to them IMHO. As for the "something more" you're talking about, what exactly would that be? Bonus tracks, bonus footage, online stuff? But oh, we already have all that  ... without having to buy the album. As for stuff from the recording process, I don't think the guys will release it... 1) they won't even give us lyrics coz it'll distract from "listening to the music" 2) they want to maintain some mystery about their recording process 3) they want privacy and not have us speculate about each and every little shouting match/disagreement they have 4) they might think it's boring/have little worth "...you actually want to watch a bunch of ugly men milling around doing nothing at staring into space for 4 hours???..." as Chris might say
