  1. I could go on for a while about the stereotypes associated with Iowa. We're all farmers (never been on a farm a day in my life, save for a visit to a historical one in fourth grade. Wouldn't know the first thing to do on one). We're all conservative hicks from "middle America" who don't understand the fancy ways of the big city folk (legalized gay marriage, one of few states who did, so stuff it). TV executives seem to be horrible with their stereotypes in that regard. "Will this program go over well in 'middle America'?" Yeah, it will, trust me. After my parents got married, they moved back to my dad's home state of California for a while, and then moved back here (this is my mom's home state). When they were getting ready to move and told people in California the name of the city they were moving to, people would go, "They have cities in Iowa?" Yep. And indoor plumbing and that newfangled electricity, too! And then people often mix us up with Idaho and think we're the potato state, but that's not a stereotype so much as just a food mixup. And one lady a teacher of mine met once apparently forgot Iowa was a state to begin with, so...yeah.
  2. I only mentioned "sad" because of "Amsterdam" :p. Not the happiest of lyrical content in that song, for the most part. But yeah, angry is good. I'm all for angry.
  3. Aw, they wouldn't beat up the women :). The men, on the other hand, might want to worry...
  4. It's been freakishly warm here, too-we actually have a fan going and I'm sweating a bit. In mid-March. Something is off about that. Perfect! I've always pictured a swing when I listen to the song, too. Except I picture a sunny morning sitting on a porch swing of a house that's out amongst some hills, for some reason :p. Tracie, I've done that as well. Hopefully the day will come for you soon!
  5. ^^^^ That last picture actually makes me want to run out and buy them all cake to make them happy!
  6. *Cackles gleefully* Well said, my friend, well said :D. Course I'd want to see the video! Oh, wow. So much to love about this. The line Chris chooses to do the ear tug on...perfect. Thanks for sharing that :). I'd be more than happy to see some Buckin love at the show I go to later this year. That'd be wonderful. What interview is that from? That's lovely. Love all the other pictures/screecaps here, too, innocent or otherwise . And Kristal, hope you can remember that dream (funny how one can have THAT kind of a dream and forget it!).
  7. Me, too. Throw in some weird, sad with a hint of hope type of lyrical content a la "A Rush of Blood..." (the song) and "Amsterdam" and we'd be good to go. I like the idea of it being a counterpart to Mylo Xyloto, too. That'd be a very interesting way to continue and contrast the theme of that album.
  8. Just voted :). Looking at all the artists that are up against each other, my votes would be fairly easy for the most part on a lot of these.
  9. Hey, Mara! *Waves* *Sings* Spider-Man, Spider-Man, does whatever a spider can... Whee :D! *Sings along with this, too* I was going to say, it's hard to tell sometimes whether he's falling intentionally or unintentionally. If it's unintentional he sure knows how to recover quickly . But I've thought about that, too, for as often as he rolls and jumps and falls about the stage, the guy's got to be banged up all over the place-didn't he hurt his ankle or something in that tour diary thing? If he needs someone to tend to those bruises and such, by the way...:shifty: :sneaky:  Also, Couerli, you are awesome. Yeah, if Chris removes his shirt at all during the show I go to, god help my friends at that point, 'cause my reaction will be...interesting, to say the least :p. (*Thinks to self* We're going to see him in August. August IS often a very hot month here in this part of the country. So it could happen :laugh3:) Ooh. I like this one. I wholeheartedly agree with this. I LOVE that picture, that look...does something to me. Yeah. (And repetition is never a bad thing picture-wise. NEVER. Not when it involves Chris)
  10. Dany, what's that gif where Jonny's giving Chris a piggyback ride from? It's awesome! I've heard it said guitars are supposed to be an...um...extension (no pun intended) of...something else...so...paging Dr. Freud.... Just when I think I've seen these guys being as cute as can possibly be, this new stuff comes along to prove me wrong. That is ADORABLE. These be my thoughts as well . This thread rules :D!
  11. I'd do that . Heck, if I were on the bus here in town and my driver ever had it tuned to a station that WOULD play that song (all I ever get to hear is country. Woo), I'd be liable to startle fellow passengers with the "WOO!" I'd let out as a result.
  12. I'm personally really excited to see that Viva gig. Any Viva era live clips I've seen have always looked so entertaining, so it'd be fun to see an entire concert. But as always, whatever everyone wants, I'll watch it :). I didn't catch the camera on the piano, either. I love it when people point out these little things, gives me more reasons to go back and watch them again :D.

The video for that is easily one of THE most insane things I've ever seen in my life. But man, do I like it-I really respect this guy's video style. And the song is great, too. I said this elsewhere-musically it sort of sounds like Elvis Costello's "Watching The Detectives"...if that song were even more funky and full of crazy. I'm also joining the club here-madly in love with "Hearts A Mess". How in the world did that song slip under my radar for so many years? "Out Here in the Cold" is a particular favorite right now, too. Cute video indeed, too, _Tash!
  14. You were indeed . Pretty hard NOT to like those picspams, there was so much in there to drool over :D. Oh, okay, thanks! Well, hey, I'll take a look then and see if it's still there/the links work. Hehe, awwwww. I remember when that happened with me, too :D. Looking back now I wonder what the hell took me so long. Love the video. He seems to really enjoy doing that song, every performance I've seen he looks like he's having so much fun. I could easily brave some rain to watch that. Love the other videos from Lory as well on this page. Honestly, I've yet to hear a live version of "The Scientist" that DOESN'T want to make me melt into a complete puddle in my chair . Somehow that song gets even more gorgeous live. As always, Row, good day, catch you later!
  15. Exactly. I sure have no problem with this thread :D. It's adorable and sweet and pervy all at the same time. How can this combination be a bad thing?
  16. Oh, my god, I JUST now noticed Nikola's avatar :laugh3:. Wow. Nikola, I salute you. Ummmmmmmm, yeah, I want to hear this. We were talking a bit in the U2 thread and I said I like it when Coldplay tap into their darker side, so yes, if they were to do a darker, more rock-sounding album, I'd be very, very curious to hear how that would turn out.
  17. Heck, I notice that when watching interviews sometimes. Which is why some of the attacks on him I've heard from people over the years always strike me a bit funny. Yeah, he probably does have a bit of an ego. Most musicians do. But he knows when to turn it on and off. He's also very self-deprecating, too. I have no doubt about that. I really hope to be able to experience this someday. :laugh3: I love what you said, Allegra, about Ali. Very true. I find it really admirable that he's been married to her for 30 years, and that they've been together even longer than that given they met in school. That's incredibly sweet and romantic and very un-rock star-like behavior. And she seems like a really lovely woman, too, from what I've read about her and such. Really patient and understanding and strong and smart (and gorgeous). "The Sweetest Thing" is my favorite U2 video, it's just so freaking adorable and, well, sweet, LOL. Love the song, too. I'll check out that claw video at some point here, I'm very curious to know how the hell they got that whole thing set up and everything.
  18. That would be cool. And probably hear a new single sometime in the summer as well? Like the idea of them performing at the Olympics, too. Oooooh. I can't wait for all this if it's indeed true :D.
  19. You and me both. Those clothes are cute! Normally I'm not a big stripes type of person but I like the use of them in some of those clothes.
  20. Do it :D! Fine choices. Can't really argue with that list :). Have you already turned in the assignment? I'm curious to know what you got for a grade or comment or whatever . Honestly? Didn't notice the mistakes, really. That's incredibly cute and cool! I love that your boyfriend loves the song and sings along to it with you, and I've no doubt he'll love that video, too :).
  21. So do I . I'd have to think there'd be something out there SOMEWHERE.
  22. *Changes "Green Eyes" to "Blue Eyes", begins singing new version*
  23. Oh, my god, Dany, you're right, he DOES! He's too sexy for this whole scene :p. God, if this isn't somewhere in the LOL thread already, it needs to be.
  24. ROTFLMAO...
  25. Oh, yeah, totally, Dany! It's the end of the world and I feel fine. Or something. That works!
