i need to buy an acoustic guitar for this class
Yamaha acoustics are excellent for their price. They cost anywhere between about $250 and $600 brand new. Takamine are good as well, but they're a little more expensive (between around $400 and $900 brand new).

Am i the only one who thinks that SOTSOG is better than DM?
It most certainly is. I do like most songs on SOTSOG. 'Little James', 'Put Yer Money Where Yer Mouth Is' and 'I Can See A Liar' are fucking terrible, but even without them it's still a pretty average album. 'Fuckin' In The Bushes', 'Go Let It Out', 'Gas Panic!' and 'Roll It Over' are all fantastic songs, but the album as a whole really is way below par. Some of the B-sides were better than any of the tracks on the album; I don't see how they could put abominations like 'Little James' or 'Put Yer Money...' on the album and not 'Carry Us All' or 'Let's All Make Believe' (which is one of their very best songs). Definitely Maybe is one of the best albums I've ever heard. Oasis have never surpassed it, and they never will. 'Live Forever', 'Rock & Roll Star', 'Supersonic', 'Bring It On Down', 'Cigarettes & Alcohol' - hell, EVERY song on this album is fucking fantastic. I prefer Oasis' earlier stuff. Strangely enough, ever since they came off the drugs, Noel's songs have generally been nowhere near as good as his old stuff. Granted, the new stuff is still pretty good, and he can still churn out the odd classic, but it's not the same. Everything Noel does is "the best things he's ever done" at the time, and then a year later he turns his back on it tells everyone that he was being stupid - it happens all the time. I would rather listen to any of Oasis' older albums (Definitely Maybe, Morning Glory, Be Here Now) than the last two. They used to be my favourite band, and they probably still would be if they'd finished after Be Here Now.

Ian Brown/Stone Roses
he's an awful singer but his music is great, although I prefer his Stone Roses stuff to his solo work

The Chemical Brothers
The only album I have by them is Surrender, which I've been listening to quite a bit for the last week or so - in fact, I'm listening to it right now! Every song on this album is great, but 'Let Forever Be' and 'The Sunshine Underground' are the stand-out tracks for me. Setting Sun, Star Guitar and Block Rockin' Beats are some of my other favourites.

hohoho christmas is just around the corner
I think I'd like a new stereo, cos one of the speakers is knackered on my current one. Either that, or I'll ask for some cash to put towards a new guitar (Fender Tele) or a new amp (a Fender Twin or something) other than that, just CD's and DVD's.

Helpful advice for guitarists...
Hmmm, the only one of those I dare to play is Radiohead. But I hardly even do that, since I just tend to twiddle on the frets randomly or play my own songs to get a feel for the guitar rather than just strumming out other people's songs incessantly.

"Hello my name is mum..."
well, given that she comes from Colombia, I seriously doubt she has even heard of Peter Kay or Phoenix Nights
