  1. allriiiighht  good lad, you know it makes sense I actually think yours is the best, though :) David's is another favourite of mine - that part from Family Guy always cracks me up. Dunno about sig's though, to be honest. I don't pay all that much attention to how good they are... perhaps I should be more observant.

  6. I heard that too, but not sure if it's true. I just think maybe it freaks them out a bit. My younger brother had a phase of sleepwalking for a few months when he was 12 (he's now 14). There was one time I remember going to bed and he was standing at the top of the stairs looking confused and freaked out. I asked him if he was okay and he just went back to bed. 'twas very weird. I've never sleepwalked though, or talked.. or erm... sung.
  7. my worst songs are actually the ones which have taken longest to write. I've got plenty of songs that have no melody or no words, and they're just sitting dormant on my hard drive as instrumental recordings with no lyrics. If I eventually do manage to write something for it, then it's always a struggle and I'm never happy with the result. but my best songs just come instantly, and most of the time I'm not even setting out to write a song. I have two or three songs where I just picked up the guitar and came up with something in a few minutes - chords, melody and a few lyric ideas. After half an hour or so, I'll have a complete song written down ready to be recorded. My suggestion is... don't force it. Just sing the words you've come up with (or even just hum) along to the chords randomly as you play them and see what melody fits. If you find that the words don't really fit the melody at one point, then change the amount of syllables, maybe replace a word or two or even completely change the line. "Don't try. I think I prefer the original Monkey Island to the others. I have Monkey Island 4, and it's incredibly funny, but it's sort of lost it's charm. There's something about it that isn't quite right, although it's still a very fun game. I played Monkey Island 3 for a few minutes and got incredibly bored. Monkey Island 2 was very nearly as good as the original, and it was just as hilarious, but the puzzles in the original were much more fun, I thought - the sword fighting was brilliant.
  12. Using just downstrokes gives a song a more "driving" rhythm, and more apparent energy. The Strokes are pretty much addicted to using downstrokes in their songs (not only Nikolai, but Nick and Albert do it on guitar as well) Using a combination of down and upstrokes gives a song much more rhythmic feel, and gives subtle contrasts in dynamics and tone. Wonderwall by Oasis is played with a combination of up/down strokes - try playing it with just downstrokes and you'll notice a huge difference. After a while, the method behind it comes naturally. You get used to strumming in the right direction according to the sound you want, and your hand will start moving more rhythmically over the strings.

  18. I like the stuff I've heard (i.e. not a lot). I fell in love with "Soldier Girl" pretty much as soon as I heard it. A lot of people I know can't stand them, but I think they're pretty cool.

Hi mate, I'm Ryan. Hope you enjoy your stay.
  20. it has to be Being John Malkovich. Simply one of the best films I've ever seen. I don't know why everyone thought High Fidelity was so good. I really didn't think much of it at all.
  21. ^ I've been playing Doom 2 shitloads over the last week. I forgot just how good this game really is.
  22. I've never even been to this site before, but I've just signed up for it. :) I'm contemplating uploading some lyrics and art that I've made. In the meantime, my address is: http://captainroy.deviantart.com Not much there just yet, though Anyway, I'm quite impressed by some of the artwork you've made. You've got some pretty good pieces there.
