Radiohead
Thanks very much but there's no need for the sympathy. Its the rule that's limited me to only two tickets thats cost two of my friends the chance to go but its my job, within the pack, to do the ticket buying. However, if it comes round and there's no chance of me getting tickets, I'm just going to have to take the worthwhile risk of picking one over the others!

(sorry, have to ask, if anyone has any spare blackpool tickets, for either date, and wants to sell, please let me know)

Radiohead tour dates
this isn't a comprehensive album tour, they're only doing 3 venues in the UK in may, and only two more elsewhere. There will be a proper tour when the album is released, possibly early next year.
-
"The Perishers" - new band
they're not that new, I've had Let There Be Morning for about a year now.

Radiohead
about 1193 hours to go....................

Morning Runner [have split]
I think the last song on it is tripe but i really like the rest of the album, its short term value is very high, i'll be interested to see if it holds up in my opinions.

The official Formula One Thread 2006
i don't know, but i'll be intrigued as to how Audi will be doing with a diesel................................ Formula-sodding-One, can you not please specify this in the thread title? And also, to anyone who only watches F1 as the only form of motorsport they watch, please have a look around at the many other, more exciting, less commercialised variants, in particular have a look at, and a listen to, the various sportscar and GT championshps around at the moment. Oh, and I expect Raikkonen, but wouldn't be too surprised if it isn't

4th ALBUM/ SPLIT UP
i hope they take a couple of years out, maybe do a few small acoustic shows in that time or something, release an EP if necessary and get out of the media for a while.

CLOCKS or SPEED OF SOUND??
is Speed Of Sound really winning? wow, Speed Of Sound is nothing that Clocks isn't, and certainly doesn't possess the same level of haunting-ness about it.

Top 10 albums
somehow, i can't see a Coldplay album not winning this ;) mine: 1. U2 - The Joshua Tree (stunning piece of work, the first 5 songs take you through every emotion in the known universe, and there are still tracks as good as One Tree Hill and Exit on the second half. Better than sliced bread. Best track: Running To Stand Still) 2. U2 - Achtung Baby (a reinvention as bold as KidA but far better tunes. Some superb live songs backed up by probably the best live show ever seen. Pointing to the genious of One may be cliche, but it's a well-worn one for a reason, enfored greater by the song's live appeal and additions (an_cat, amongst others, must know the extra verse) Best track: One) 3. Manic Street Preachers - The Holy Bible (Richie Edwards twisted genious comes through without the slightest hint of subtlety in an album that, by far, out-In Utero's In Utero. So arrogant it hurts. I prefer listening to Everything Must Go but have come to appreciate this more. Best track: Of Walking Abortion) 4. Coldplay - A Rush Of Blood To The Head (probably my musical favourite of most albums, some beautiful melodies and composition with some epic songs such as The Scientist and Amsterdam. Best track: Amsterdam) 5. Led Zeppelin - [untitled] (The best of the Led Zeppelin bunch that was at its strongest between III and Houses Of The Holy. Even excluding Stairway To Heaven, this is a fantastic record, including many of my favourite rock songs such as Rock & Roll and When The Levee Breaks. The best document of a golden age. Best track: Stairway To Heaven) 6. Radiohead - The Bends (I am a late convert to Radiohead, for it was little over a year ago that something finally 'clicked' in me that see the beauty of songs like Fake Plastic Trees and Sulk. It was the b-sides and heavier songs, such as Just, that finally made me see what everyone else had done for ages and I haven't looked back. Best track: Fake Plastic Trees) 7. Manic Street Preachers - Everything Must Go (another huge stylistic change, this one enforced more than those undergone by U2 and Radiohead, here is an album that has none of the pretention and arrogance of their earlier work and ends with my favourite of all Manics songs, No Surface All Feeling. This album lacks everything that made The Holy Bible great yet remains superb, also containing Design For Life, the song I see as the My Generation of my generation. Best track - No Surface All Feeling) 8. Muse - Showbiz (I find it really hard to pick between the three of Muse's albums as each of them has a seperate element that somehow captures their live grandeur, but this one contains my two favourite Muse songs, Cave and, more importantly, the explosive title song. Best track: Showbiz) 9. Led Zeppelin - III (the 'other side' of early Led Zeppelin, and the best camp-fire album there's ever been. This one, more than the others to me, endears Jimmy Page's wizardry by stripping the band of their epic and heavy sounds and creating one of the most intimate records in my collection. Best track: Bron-Y-Aur Stomp) 10. Wilco - A Ghost Is Born (whilst missing much of the Radiohead-ness of Yankee Hotel Foxtrot, A Ghost is born beats that album as it contains my favourite trio of Wilco's songs, Handshake Drugs, Muzzle Of Bees and the behemoth that is At Least That's What You Said. Pushed Turin Brakes' Optimist LP into 11th on the novelty factor, this album is mainly let down by I'm A Wheel and The Late Greats. Best track: At Least That's What You Said

U2
is that the Vegas show that was broadcast? I've been looking for the two disc version of that for a while.

Radiohead
hey up, would anyone here be kind enough, if they have it, to post the 2 Bridge School Benefit concerts of 2002? I'd love to get a-hold of these Thom solo shows as there are some songs played that I can't imagine as solo pieces.

The Razorlight & I Am Arrows thread
i'd be interested in those mp3s if you'd please? I know I shouldn't like Razorlight, but I saw them supporting the Manics back in '04 and have thought of them as the best of the modern faux-indie wave of bands. If DaveS visits this thread, he may still have the link for a few other live tracks and b-sides?

Your favourite !JFshiver! poll to date?
it does indeed seem to be a clear favourite!
-
What should I buy?
- Your favourite !JFshiver! poll to date?
which is it to be? You woiuld have thought Mr Shiver's polls can only take up so much space onone forum but the flow seems to be never-ending, so I thought a poll should be set up in his honour. I know the selection above is only a limited few of his detailed and thought provoking polls but with a 10 option maximum I was really in a fix. So which is it to be? (!JFshiver!: I only jest, I'm not having a go)- Is HTDAAB better than X&Y?
As live acts, i can't see that the two are comparable, U2 are, to my eyes and ears, a live act way and above anything else that is around in modern music and has been for over a decade. Don't get me wrong, Coldplay's shows are one of the best gigs I've been to but there is just nothing else that has come close. Anyway, not here to discuss that, here to answer the topic question. In my opinion, yes, HTDAAB is a better album than X&Y. It's not U2 at their best, but in my opinion the b-sides to AROBTTH would have made a better album than X&Y. By the way, that doesn't mean I think X&Y is appalling, I just prefer songs such as Crests Of Waves and One I Love to the best on X&Y. Actually, my favourite song from 'the X&Y era' is Gravity and even that was written under the AROBTTH influences. HTDAAB can well be compared to ATYCLB, the two have a very similar style, but I feel this is a far stronger album song-for-song. Just quickly, my favourite songs off each are quite comparable if i were to give /10 ratings to each but, if I'm being honest, not even my favourite X&Y song, 'Til Kingdom Come, comes close to either Miracle Drug or Original Of The Species, my favourite songs from How To.... - Your favourite !JFshiver! poll to date?
