Two songs will be nice but anything more will annoy me a little. Like a few others have said, I want to hear most of the album for the first time on the day that it drops. Otherwise it will feel like knowing what a birthday gift is before receiving it.

There must be some U2 inspiration there, I presume? Not that there's anything wrong with that, of course. It's still a good idea. :) Oddly enough, they were an opening act on U2's 360º Tour so they've done it a few times before.

If I recall correctly, they've opened a show of any length with Charlie Brown only twice (both were its first 2 performances). If I got to choose, though, Politik would open. It's more likely that it'll just be Paradise or ASFOS.

It's nice to have some official confirmation. :) It'm glad we won't have to sit through any more than one other artist. I'm okay with watching Sam Smith beforehand.

Okay I am finally back! Here are the results of round 2... Early days 3 Mylo Xyloto 2 Unfortunately for the early days, they were neither bigger nor stronger than MX. They can't go anywhere they want to go; they may only leave the game. :P The remaining eras are: Parachutes AROBTTH X&Y VLVODAAHF MX Somehow, MX managed to hold on. It is my next vote because I believe that missing Latin America was a major flaw of the tour. The era was massive and U2-ish in size, but considering all the leftovers from MX it deserved its own Prospekt's March kind of EP. The album is ok to me, but not spectacular; I would have liked it if they hadn't scrapped the acoustic album they were making. Instead they should have released it alongside the more upbeat and experimental material. The next round starts now!

Without Chris' marital problems, we might have gotten AHFOD in 2014. I think it is what the band originally wanted to do after MX. MX had a few elements of the VLVODAAHF sound with new components added on. Likewise, AHFOD could combine the basics of the MX sound with some new style.

Lol it's fine. :D I'm glad I said something. :P Edit: I just changed the thread title to avoid any more confusion.

That spacey sound is something I really like about X&Y as a whole (not just Square One). Moving to Mars, Atlas, and Midnight have it too; since Coldplay haven't completely given it up, I hope that AHFOD incorporates at least some of that sound.

So, just to clarify, that is not a vote for Viva La Vida, right? You seem awfully fond of it for someone who wants it eliminated. :P

I've seen Death Will Never Conquer referred to as a "short country song," which I agree with especially when it appeared live.

I dreamt about the festival last night. They played Atlas, VLV, ASFOS, White Shadows (!), and the new single. It was amazing!!! The end of White Shadows (with Chris and Jonny laying down on the stage) lead directly into the beginning of the new single and then I woke up. :sad2: It's 99% certain that they won't pull out a rarity in the setlist, but after all it is more of a showcase than a festival.

Chris The only reason behind my vote is that there is so much more to Coldplay than just Chris. He's the face of the band in the media (which is understandable given that he is the frontman, and one of the best in my opinion!) but the true sound of the band comes more from Guy, Will, and Jonny. :guy: :will: :jonny:

No matter what happens on Friday, it will be refreshing to at least see them performing together. :) It's been 9 months since the last gig and I'm sure they're ready to come back.

Too bad I will be at school when they play their set. I will come back to 100 pages of either delight, fairly tame complaining, or the internet forum equivalent of a riot.

It's nice to see some responses! Everyone who has not yet voted, you have 6 hours left! As I stated earlier, my vote is for the early days. The band sounded great and raw for a new artist but they had hardly begun to develop their own signature sound.
