To me a song can be awesome despite simplistic lyrics. However, it needs very good instrumentals in order to compensate. Take Midnight for example, where it's the melody and the overall dark sound that carries the song. As long as the melodies are strong and the lyrics aren't so simple and cliched that they distract from the rest of the song, I will be happy.

The band's new clothes look great!! They're even better than the MX outfits in my opinion, now they are literally wearing the paint! I could see the band using them for more than just the new MV and I'm fine with that. :)

Thank you... I'm a little sick of the bashing, it seems like all the time somebody decides to complain about POC/Rihanna/MX in general. You're right, there's been an atmosphere of hostility towards GS and MX that to be honest seems to insult everyone who does enjoy those 2 albums. There is quite a lot of complaining about AHFOD as well, which is absurd because we haven't heard even a single snippet of the new material. What happened to good old healthy speculation? Let's just sit back and enjoy the ride. :)

Well, there was not as much to read today but it's nice to know a few more details about the MV shoot. :) If I recall correctly, that is how people described ASFOS after the GS Live 2014 filming... so the new song is going to be a very big stadium-filling anthem. I'm fine with that. To me there's nothing wrong with starting off the era with something really bright.

I think so! They do like to decorate the Bakery and Beehive based on the album they are working on so it's probably not a leftover. That picture on the wall will likely appear somehow.

I'm going to keep a closer eye on Twitter while I'm a school tomorrow and Friday. Pour Me It's good but perhaps the least interesting X&Y b-side for me. How You See the World deserves to last a little while longer so I do hope it doesn't get eliminated right away. Btw double elimination for the first few rounds is a good idea just to quicken the pace until it gets harder to decide.

Oh good, I hoped that VLVODAAHF would be considered Oldplay in this thread, so count me in! :viva: I don't despise MX and GS (in fact I enjoy them) but they didn't quite reach the standard set by the previous material. I think of it like this: I like Newplay but I love Oldplay more. Oddly enough, even though I became a fan during the MX era, X&Y is what made me a fan. By the way that version of Brothers and Sisters is beautiful, I forgot that the b-side version is different.

In today's music industry it's hard to keep a secret because of all the social media attention. I like those sly little replies that only tell us something is amiss. ;) Perhaps they've always wanted a quiet lead up to this album without many details... I loved the look Chris got from Will when he revealed the album title. :D
