I'm probably gonna get criticised for this, but now I'm voting for A Message. I like the song, I really do, but... for me it's still not quite at the level of the others. It is very underrated though and the Hope For Haiti version is powerful.

I must say, they've done a nice job with those in the past! They have been a shaky information source (they sometimes blindly post "news" without checking their facts), but the "(Song title here) Project" videos are a great idea.

The new single will be a resurrected Mooie Ellebogen. You heard it from me first. :P ;) Seriously though, a video can do a lot for our perception of a song when we first listen to it. Then, there is a visual component to compliment the music. I agree, Midnight wouldn't have been quite as mysterious without that music video to go along with it when it was first shown to the world.

The MX era patches all represented different songs (for example the swirl, the radio tower, and the CK). I would not count out the color wheel as a similar patch, but I do disagree with it being the album cover. Not only is it too early to tell for sure, but IMO it is also a poor choice after the masterpiece that is the Ghost Stories cover.

I enjoy the In My Place lyrics too... :) We definitely could get the single's audio on YouTube or whatever before the official release. Remember, for the past few albums they usually uploaded the "official audio" for the first 1-2 singles (as well as Major Minus and Moving to Mars). Of course, now every album track is on the YouTube channel.

3. Chris' piano playing is an important part of the "trademark" AROBTTH and X&Y sound, but his guitar playing is wonderful too. He's no Noel Gallagher but... his guitar playing adds quite a lot to songs. The list of tracks that have great Chris guitar playing goes on and on: GPASUYF, Warning Sign, Moses, Strawberry Swing, Green Eyes, One I Love, Major Minus, Ghost Story, Charlie Brown, UATW, Oceans, Til Kingdom Come, A Message, most of the Parachutes album...

Last round I voted to save X&Y but now I realize there is no way it is going to be victorious. VLVODAAHF is my favorite album so in order to save it my vote goes to X&Y :(

I think ASFOS has average lyrics but it has better lyrics than just about any other EDM song I've ever heard. Compared to a lot of popular music nowadays, often Coldplay's most simple lyrics are still better. They aren't cliche sex, drug, and party lyrics like so much is now.

I'm changing my vote. Instead of Proof, my vote is for The Hardest Part.

I completely agree. That unreleased material like Ladder to the Sun, Harmless, Solid Ground, and Sweet Marianne, as well as a lot of the b-sides, would've worked very well on X&Y.

Hmm... could it be a guest musician for the new song? I hope we don't have to wait 2 weeks to find out if whether or not that is true!

If they are comparing the song to popular Holi songs, then who's to say that it doesn't have at least a little bit of Indian influence, sonically or lyrically (or both)? :thinking:

That's very plausible. That's not the only time Chris has either intentionally or unintentionally referenced another artist's lyrics in his own lyrics. The Escapist: "And in the end / we lie awake / and we dream of making our escape" The End (The Beatles): "And in the end / the love you take / is equal to the love you make" Here's another one: Square One: "I need a compass, draw me a map / I'm on the top, I can't get back" Zooropa (U2): "And I have no compass / And I have no map / And I have no reasons / No reasons to get back"

That's a pretty nice list there! Hope you enjoyed the Frank Turner set yesterday... it's not often that you get such an intimate, up close look at an artist! I hope you enjoy U2 tonight as well :) I saw them for the 2nd time back in June and it was amazing... I think the new tour is the best they've been in more than a decade.
