Are you? I mean, it's the biggest event when it comes to football (or soccer, however you call it), and some people are not really interested in local/international championships going on in their own country but feel attracted to this particular one because it means your team is the best in the world, but still I think not everone is a sportsperson nor wanna know about it, and they must be feeling left out with all the frenzy around. So....are you one of them?? I'm not a sports freak but I follow national tournaments aswell as international ones such as Libertadores Cup or Champions League, therefore is natural for me to be interested in the World Cup (specially after be…

Ronaldo was criticised for his performance against Croatia Brazil striker Ronaldo visited a clinic on Wednesday complaining of dizziness and headaches - but is expecting to train as normal on Thursday. Ronaldo is, therefore, in normal condition for training." Ronaldo was criticised for his display in Brazil's 1-0 victory over Croatia in their World Cup game on Tuesday. He was ineffectual against the Croats and was jeered as he was replaced by Robinho after 69 minutes. "Ronaldo is fine, he just fell a bit…

German police hold 300 in clashes Police had earlier arrested Poles identified by Polish officers Police have arrested 300 people amid clashes in Dortmund ahead of the Germany-Poland World Cup match. The violence started when police tried to arrest a number of fans, who then attacked officers and began fighting among themselves, police said. Officers were then seen putting on body armour as tens of thousands of fans left the stadium after the game. Police had earlier arrested up to 60 suspected Polish troublemakers, with the help of Polish officers. Crouch halts robotic celebrations Peter Crouch says his robotic dancing career is over - and will only be revived if England win the World Cup. Liverpool striker Crouch has become a cult figure among England fans because of his eccentric goal celebration, but now he feels it is time to get serious. He explained: "It's not about robotic dancing. It is about scoring goals and winning matches. It's an important time for everyone now. "It's serious business, though we might all do it if we win the World Cup." He added: "If you can enjoy yourself, all well and good, but the first thing we must concentrate on is winning football matches. "The lads are keen…

LADIES' nights could become a thing of the past when new European equal rights laws come into force, according to a licensing expert. The EU directive aims to make sure goods and services are offered to men and women equally. This means ladies' nights - where women get into bars, pubs and clubs free while men have to pay - could be in breach of the new laws. Advertisement your story continues below The UK and other EU member states must adopt the equal treatment rules by next December. Lisa Sharkey, a partner in solicitors firm Poppleston Allen which specialises in licensing law, said she expected ladies' nights to die out because they discriminate against me…

  13. Live football matches will no longer be broadcast on the BBC big screens in Liverpool and London after trouble flared during England's first match. About 50,000 people gathered at nine of the screens around the UK to watch England play Paraguay on Saturday, but violence erupted and arrests were made. At Canary Wharf in London, 16 people were injured when fighting broke out in a 6,000-strong crowd. In Liverpool there were two arrests as fans threw bottles and cans. Stores surrounding Liverpool's Clayton Square screen locked their doors as police attempted to restore order. The screens are operated by the BBC in partnership with local councils and the police. Australian boys' highway escapade Two Australian brothers aged 10 and six drove 100km (62 miles) along a busy New South Wales highway in a bid to make a surprise visit to their grandfather. Startled motorists called the police after seeing the boys alone in the car. They had travelled over two-thirds of the way towards their destination, near Moree, when police pulled them over. "They appeared to be driving normally, certainly better than probably some other people on that road," Sgt Matt Clifford of the Moree police said. The two boys took their grandmother's car and set off up the Newell Highway, the Sydney Morning Herald reported. When police stopped th…

After the dissapointment of last edition (we got eliminated in the first round), we feel very hopeful. Our team is fresh and energetic and we've got some of the best individual players in the world, most of them playing in international leagues. Most important, we wanna be Champions again after 20 years since our last time (Mexico '86), and we really really don't want to lose over Brazil.

Damn.... France striker Djibril Cisse has suffered a suspected broken leg in Les Bleus' last warm-up game for the World Cup finals. The Liverpool star was involved in a collision with a defender after 12 minutes of the game against China and was stretchered off after a sickening landing on his right leg. The injury appeared to be very serious, with Cisse going to hospital as a result and giving coach Raymond Domenech severe cause for concern with France's opening game coming against Switzerland on June 13. If the bad news regarding the former Auxerre man is confirmed, then the Bleus boss will have until 5pm on June 12 to name a replacement for his squad. …
