  1. Search giant Google has launched an online payments system which aims to compete with auction giant eBay. Dubbed Google Checkout, the system is designed to boost Google's main source of revenue - selling advertising. The service offers some free order processing to Google's millions of advertisers, but will initially be available only to stores in the US. EBay unit Paypal is the market leader in online payments. EBay stock slipped ahead of Checkout's launch. Checkout's long testing process - it has been in the works for a year or more - has meant that rumours have been rife about the service, which many had dubbed "Gbuy" . Google says it will enable shoppers to set…

  2. A law that could force Apple to share its digital download technology with rivals has been passed in France. Currently, songs bought from Apple's iTunes music store can only be played on Apple-manufactured iPods. The bill would mean any digital song could be played on any player, regardless of its format or source. But the legislation leaves room for artists to sign deals with Apple and others, enabling them to restrict which systems their music will play on. Under the bill, companies such as Apple, Sony and Microsoft could be made to share their proprietary copy-protection systems. It was intended to deter piracy and ensure no single company dominated the fast-gr…

During his press conference this morning (June 14), President Bush mocked reporter Peter Wallstein for asking a question with his shades on. Well, what the President didn’t realize at the time was that Mr. Wallstein is legally blind. I think this proves once and for all that George Bush doesn’t care about black blind people watch the video here: http://www.bestweekever.tv/2006/06/14/icymi-bushs-blind-item-of-the-day/ ...

  6. Proof That 'Flight 77' Eyewitness Report Skewed 'I saw faces of passengers' man furious with newspaper for twisting his words Paul Joseph Watson | June 30 2006 Many Flight 77 skeptics who believe that an American Airlines Boeing 757 did not hit the Pentagon on 9/11 scoff at eyewitness testimony which claims to describe intricate details about the alleged commercial airliner. In at least one case those doubts have now been validated. James R. Cissell, an eyewitness to the object that struck the Pentagon on September 2001, is furious with a Cincinnati newspaper for falsely attributing quotes to him that he never made. The Cincinnati Post reported Cissell's com…

The trial of four leading Italian football clubs on match-fixing charges has been opened and adjourned. Champions Juventus, plus AC Milan, Fiorentina and Lazio could be relegated from Serie A and forced out of European competition if found guilty. A six-strong panel of judges convened at the Olympic Stadium to try the clubs, plus 26 senior officials, referees and linesmen. After legal submissions, the tribunal was postponed until Monday. Lawyers representing five Serie B teams, who hope to be promoted if the accused squads are relegated, want to give evidence. Judges delayed the case so the representatives of Bologna, Lecce, Treviso, Brescia and Mess…

  9. Closing Gitmo Won't End Bushlag Archipelago Token gesture is political stunt and a drop in the ocean Paul Joseph Watson/Prison Planet.com | June 22 2006 Exactly four months ago this website reported the following. "Developments over the past few days indicate that the Bush administration may be on the verge of announcing the closure of the Guantanamo Bay detention camp. If this happens it will be a token political gesture and the worldwide torture and rendition program will not cease." Certain quarters of the media and global humanitarian groups are heralding the stand down of George W. Bush after he gave a speech outlining US plans to close down Guantanamo …

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/5129904.stm US Guantanamo tribunals 'illegal' Many Guantanamo detainees have been held for years The US Supreme Court has ruled that the Bush administration does not have the authority to try terrorism suspects by military tribunal. Justices upheld the challenge by Osama Bin Laden's ex-driver to his trial at Guantanamo, saying the proceedings violated Geneva Conventions. The ruling is seen as a major blow to President George W Bush - but it does not order the closure of Guantanamo. Mr Bush said he would respect it but also protect Americans from "killers". The Cuba-based facility currently holds about 460…

  13. Video: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/middle_east/5127918.stm Archaeologists in Egypt expecting to find a mummy during their excavation of a burial chamber in Luxor have instead discovered a garland of flowers. The 3,000-year-old garland is the first to be discovered. It was found in the last of seven coffins which archaeologists had hoped would contain the mummies of royal queens or even Tutankhamun's mother. Researchers and media had been invited into the chamber, near Tutankhamun's tomb, to watch the coffin's opening. The chief curator of Cairo's Egyptian Museum said the surprise find was "even better" than discovering a mummy. "I prayed to find a mu…

Only white people can be racist, at least according to the Seattle public school system. Here's how they define racism: The systematic subordination of members of targeted racial groups who have relatively little social power in the United States (Blacks, Latino/as, Native Americans, and Asians), by the members of the agent racial group who have relatively more social power (Whites). By this definition, if a white person were murdered simply for being white, it could not be considered a racist act. http://brain-terminal.com/posts/2006/05/17/only-whites-can-be-racist#735

Cooked Terror Plot Recycles Politics Of Fear 'Al-Qaeda' plan to fly planes into London skyscrapers concocted by government lobbyists Paul Joseph Watson/Prison Planet.com | June 22 2006 In another bizarre example of Tony Blair's government playing with the politics of fear, a discredited terror plot concerning Al-Qaeda plans to fly planes into London skyscrapers, an admitted fairy tale manufactured by government lobbyists, resurfaced today as a new story. The BBC reports that a Department of Homeland Security dossier verifies a previous 'Al-Qaeda' plan to hijack planes from Heathrow a…

http://www.drudgereport.com/flash3.htm Iran's goal is to wipe Israel off the map. Their president has said this repeatedly since his election. Accepting the U.S. and EU-backed offer would derail their nuclear weapons program, and thus deter them from attaining their noble goal. Time to take out their facilities. so ive been a huge movie buff since about the age 4, subsequently seeing probably thousands of movies over the last twenty years. Anyways, today I was just thinking to myself some of probably many films that I personally believe to be unjustly underrated. Here are three that come to mind: 1) The Count of Monte Cristo- Never had any expectations about the film and never really heard anything about it before I had seen it at the video store. Turns out that while it may be yet another remake of the famous story, the movie itself while maybe not being overly deep, is in the end a highly engaging and entertaining film. It stars Guy Pierce and Jim Caviezel. (2002) 2) Amer…

A man's sexual orientation may be determined by conditions in the womb, according to a study. Previous research had revealed the more older brothers a boy has, the more likely he is to be gay, but the reason for this phenomenon was unknown. But a Canadian study has shown that the effect is most likely down to biological rather than social factors. The research is published in the journal of the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. Professor Anthony Bogaert from Brock University in Ontario, Canada, studied 944 heterosexual and homosexual men with either "biological" brothers, in this case those who share the same mother, or "non-biological" brothers…

  23. Terror Expert: London Bomber Was Working For MI5 Khan used as informant for security services A noted terror expert has told the BBC that Mohammed Siddique Khan, the alleged ringleader of the 7/7 London bombings, was working for British intelligence agency MI5 as an informant at the time of the attacks. Charles Shoebridge is a 12-year veteran detective of the London Metropolitan Police, a former graduate of the Royal Military Academy at Sandhurst, and now a broadcaster and writer on terrorism in the UK. Shoebridge told the BBC Newshour program that from the evidence little else can be assumed other than that Khan was working for British intelligence. "The a…

A seven-year-old black boy has been withdrawn from a school play by his mother after he was cast as a monkey. Lorraine Rees took her son, Myles, out of the production of An Enchanted Island, accusing Ashley Down Infant School in Bristol of racism. The school said the pupils chose the parts they wanted, but a meeting between Mrs Rees and head teacher Helen Heap has failed to resolve the row. One quarter of the school's 170 pupils are from ethnic minority backgrounds. In its last Ofsted inspection, the school was described as a "good school and fun to be in". 'Racist connotations' Myles Rees was cast as a monkey, alongside one other black pupil and thr…
