Coldplay on Q Magazine's Artists Of The Century Coldplay was featured in the Q MAgazine's Artist of The Decade. The band's article was written by Glastonbury's Michael Eavis. Eavis wrote: "When I stopped milking after 40 years, I got a Roberts radio for the farm kitchen. It doesn't have quite as crisp a sound but I can still remember the morning I came down and first heard Coldplay's Yellow. I just thought it was such a beautiful and uplifting sound. Chris Martin's voice is just so inspiring on that record. It was the start of the millennium and I think we all wanted to feel that way a little bit, didn't we? "Look at the stars, look how they shine for you?" Brillia…

Apologies for the lateness of this post, I had to see a man about a dog. NOVEMBER 2009 With The ‘Viva La Vida’ tour over all but for several charity concerts and the long awaited Latin America tour in 2010, you would be forgiven for thinking that November was a boring year in 2009’s Coldplay calendar. The Oracle is still in residence, and the boys are in the studio. FAN FAVOURITE VENUE IN DEBT In early November it was revealed that Wembley Stadium had suffered another huge pre-tax loss of £31.1million and is not expected to break even until 2014, which means Coldplay will probably have played there on a second consecutive world tour before Wembley manages t…

Eno: I had to separate Coldplay and U2 The month of March in 2009 for Coldplay started off with an interview with Brian Eno mentioning he had to mentally separate Coldplay and U2 while working with ‘two biggest bands in the world’. An extract of the interview: "I realised it could have been, but there was no friction on either side. First of all they know each other. Bono said he thought it was a good idea. But I felt sensitive that in one computer I had all the work I was doing on Coldplay and all the work I was doing on U2 and I had to mentally keep them apart." http://www.telegraph.co.uk The Photography Copyright Grab Rock photographers were not happy wh…

Coldplay give away free live CD May kicked off with much excitement as Anchorman announced that the band would be giving away a free live concert CD. Left Right Left Right Left was made available as a free digital download beginning May 15 with hard disc copies given to each person attending non festival shows for the remaining dates on the Viva tour. Recorded in various cities on the Viva Tour, the band could have easily made millions selling the live CD, but instead chose to do something special for their fans (much to the dismay of cash strapped EMI I’m sure). According to the band, the give-away is meant as a recession-busting mark of gratitude to ev…

Where do we start? I think all fans felt we were coming to an end of an era. The Viva La Vida era can be seen as a success. The last show of the tour signalled the end of what can be described as a mammoth carnival. The Viva La Vida tour was finishing. So to the first real news of the month... September 2nd 2009 Coldplay confirmed that Radio One would broadcast highlights of the concert in Glasgow. 50,000 Glaswgians got very excited and cracked opened the beer. Anyway more on that show later. As Coldplay went on their tour, we knew they were coming home and boy did Coldplayers get excited!! do you think we guilt tripped Chris Martin to say they had neglected Britai…

April was a slow-news month that saw Coldplay take some well earned time off from touring after being drenched in Abu Dhabi. But being Coldplay meant they could not rest for long. After only 3 weeks the band was back in the studio with Brian Eno, working on their next album. April Fools! Of course April 1st could never be April first without the now traditional glut of media-based April Fools pranks. Coldplay.com issued a statement detailing the band's plans to record the next album in a zero gravity environment on the advice of Brian Eno. http://www.coldplay.com/newsdetail.php?id=374&page=180 Sigur Ros also chimed in on LP5, announcing that singer …

Here are the highlights from June, submitted by RedGirl76 & SueDeNimes: Twitter craziness Coldplay joined the Twitterverse way back in January, but after a flurry of tweets from Guy and a little nudge from Anchorman at the end of May, June saw the band reach the magical 7-figure mark of 1,000,000 followers. Being fans of the 140 character social network site ourselves, Anna and I thought we’d use it as the basis for our look back at June on the Coldplay calendar. Twitter was full of announcements all month about the goodies available on www.coldplay.com and it was another hectic month as the tour rumbled through 14 more dates in the US & Canada. C…

"We feel bands need to fill their first 10 years, so we have lots to do before December 31, 2009. Chris Martin So they etablished one thing that this year was going to bring them and that was as ever for Coldplay a hell of a lot of work for the 12 months. But what happened for the band during the first month of this busy year? Well, lots actually. The band started off the year with yet more recognition off the back of their 2008 release Viva La Vida and Death And All His Friends. Mediatraffic awarded the band's 4th record 'Album of the Year' after shifting 6.5 million albums, well ahead of the second best selling album which was AC/DC's Black Ice. http://www.med…

Recording Sessions! February started with news about the recording sessions, which included some news from inside the studio and reports about how the band “banned” Chris from the studio. Chris said: "The letter was to all of us he said that he thought the last album was OK but it could have been much better. He said that he still wanted to work with us on the next album but that I was banned from the studio! He said that it would be better without me for the first two weeks - 'You can do better without the singer'! He said. It has turned out to be a good idea though because the band's been free to try out loads of weird things without me getting in the way." Col…

As most of you may know, Coldplaying.com has a sister-site named WikiColdplay. While I was the one responsible in bringing the site back around this time last year (before I was owner), it has been left to digitally rot. I need your help to redo the wiki under a new domain which is currently private. We need to transfer all content from the old wiki (3000+ pages) to the new, more modern wiki. This will take a long time but with a bit of help I think we can get through it! You will need to have a vast knowledge of Coldplay and excellent english (preferably your first language). Please PM me if you are interested
