Hey guys,

Thought I'd set up a thread where we can discuss and share our latest reading threats!

What are people reading at the moment?

What book did you really enjoy on holiday/growing up/any other memory?

What's next on your to do list?

It can be anything from a fiction book to a factual one, or even a blog (I know there are a few blog writers I enjoy)!

Look forward to hearing your favorite literature!

Happy reading!

Stray Birds and Coraline Graphic Novel(I finish reading.)

I was a little scared by this story, Coraline. It's horrible, funny, and ridicules! It has a film. I want to watch it a little bit. :laugh3:

  • 3 weeks later...

The Adventures of Tom Sawyer (finished)

The Pillars Of The Earth by Ken Follett

The Norton Introduction To Literature about ten pages. :stunned:

Lars Eighner, "On Dumpster Diving" from The Norton Reader.

When I Was Five I Killed Myself :smug:

Pacific Heights by Paul Harper

The Analyst by John Katzenbach

got them as birthday present, i hope to finish them soon, so far I like a lot more Katzenbach's.

now that I think of it, is a bit creepy that both covers have staring evilish eyes... :uhoh:

sorry, but have you checked this thread beforehand?

your idea offers more than just say what one is reading, still there's already a thread for that.

Threads merged.

George R. R. Martin - A Storm of Swords

Finally!

I read Inheritance by Christopher Paolini (:bigcry: it's already finished!)

I still haven't read this yet. :bigcry:

The Pillars Of The Earth by Ken Follett

OMG, I need to read this. I saw the HBO miniseries not too long ago. SO GOOD.

Ayn Rand - "Anthem"

Loving this so much so far! Might end up being the best thing I've read in years

I'm just finishing russel brands autobiography, before that Viva Coldplay and I want to read The Hunger Games next :)

^^ I figured that was why you have your current custom title. (I dig it, BTW. :D)

Anyway, I don't know how many of you are aware, but this week is Banned Books Week. It condemns censorship and celebrates the rights given to us in the First Amendment. So many books over the years have been censored, challenged, and banned. We can't settle for that.

Do whatever you can to support free press. Spread the word. Participate in events. Stay informed. Read a banned book at some point this week.

(I hope you don't mind the public service announcement, but seeing this is a reading thread, I'd rather put it here than create a new thread, just to have no one read it.)

Happy reading, everyone! :nice:

^I couldn't resist it

I will soon be done with 'Anthem' and I might tackle 'Lady Chatterley's Lovers' next, which I think was banned at some point in the last century. I'm contributing!

By the way, Violet is there a book you'd like to recommend? I think I could squeeze in a book or two while my schedule is still . . . normal, yes.

i just finished reading "The Cry of the Halidon" by Robert Ludlum << has anyone read it?

Thank you very much for this! I wasn't aware at all of anything like this. Though I can't start reading anything so soon, I'll indeed get information on banned books.

This is a very valuable piece of info to me because reading plays a majorly important part of my life.

Oh yes, "Lady Chatterley's Lover" is grand. I think you'll rather like that one.

As far as recommendations, to fit in another banned book, I'd definitely read "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" by Ken Kesey. My brother had to read it for one of his English classes, and he said it was better than the movie (which both he and I are quite familiar with). Given that he detests reading, that was saying a lot. I went and read it, and I agree with him. The movie is great, but the book is even better.

Well, the only reason I even found out was due to a friend's post on Facebook, so if anyone should be thanked, it's her.

Anyway, it's good to know you'll get the info. Even being informed on what books were banned for what reason helps.
