What are you reading right now?

Read all of the WoT books. An acquired taste yes, and has an 'obsessive' fanbase. Sanderson's done a top job with the last 3 books after Jordan (rigby) died- 14 in all with the last out in jan13. First 6 are good then it gets pretty complex & stodgy then speeds up again as the end nighs...

Heard good things about the George martin series. Just never quite got round to starting them. Bit of a Feist fanboy as well! :)

Try mistborn if you want a quick fix. Ok, if you can read past the religious undertones.

Well, I'm almost through with the first book, but the first chapters already felt like a copy of LOTR (black riders chasing a group of people out of their beloved and kind of isolated home, uhm okay) so I was quite demotivated.

It got a bit better, but atm I don't feel like reading any more books from the series. I might give it another go when I finished all of the Ice and Fire books.

Never heard of Feist tbh, but I'll have a look! :)

It's so cool when you learn that other people enjoy something that is dear to you, like the A Song of Ice and Fire series is to me. I'm currently reading A Dance with Dragons.

I got a copy in English (cof because they're a lot cheaper, even if you have to get them shipped cof), but I recently heard a whole chapter is missing from the Brazilian edition, which was released a couple of days ago. I don't know what the fuck they did, but I feel sorry for them. They must've printed loads of books already.

What am I reading right now?

Hmm....

re-reading:

-The Alchemist , Paulo Coelho

-The Catcher in the Rye , J.D. Salinger

Reading:

-Complete Sherlock Holmes, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle

-Jane Eyre, Charlotte Bronte

-The Prince, Niccolo Machiavelli

Just finished The Fault in Our Stars .:)

Raymond Feist - crydee.com. Much faster pace than WoT and more epic scale. Favourite author. 30yr series or books from Magician to Magicians end. Last book out next year.

I probably would've finished all five books by now if I wasn't waiting for my friend. :shame: Once I'm really into a book, I can read 100 pages or more per day.

I hope to start A Storm of Swords soon. I heard they're splitting that book into two seasons and I hope they'll stay a bit closer to the book than in season 2.

Thank you! :surprised: I need to widen my horizon anyway, because I've read the LOTR at least 8 times.

You'll have to ask somebody else, sorry :\ I haven't watched the tv series yet. I could report what I heard (very good assessment overall), but I don't think you'd be interested in that.

re-reading:

That's what I'm reading now :)

The Tragedy of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark by Shakespeare

White As Snow, Red As Blood by Alessandro D'avenia

Insurgent - Veronica Roth

Along For The Ride - Sarah Dessen

Not exactly sophisticated literature, but entertaining reads nevertheless.

Going to start The Maze Runner after I finish these two.

I wish I could just put a book I started aside, but I can't. I'm obsessed with finishing books I started.

I'm exactly the same way. This is why reading "Twilight" was a nightmare. (I was curious, OK? :bigcry:) I didn't want to read it anymore, but I couldn't put it down. I felt like that book was slowly eating away at my soul. :dead:

Oh sweet, someone else is reading Sherlock Holmes! I'm about to start on Volume 2, which begins after "The Hound of the Baskervilles." :awesome:

Other things:

♦ I've reread "The Catcher in the Rye" so many times. It's really a nice book to go back and visit. :nice:

♦ You'll love "Jane Eyre." I'm rather partial to the classics, anyway, but I'm fond of the Brontë sisters.

The Tragedy of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark by Shakespeare

Ohhh, "Hamlet." This took up a good portion of my summer before my senior year of high school. I had to read it and keep a dialectical journal over it. I had to do this with several other books as well. ("Beowulf" was one of them. BLARGH. xP)

Good times.

How nice! I went to the Bronte's Parsonage in Yorkshire, England a few years back and it was fantastic! Definitely worth seeing!

I'll have to make a note to drop by there if I ever make my way across the pond and end up in the area. Thanks for the suggestion!

Haha, poor you. Actually my cousin told me to read it because she loved it soooooo much ... I'm glad I decided not to listen to her. :P

I'm re-reading Jane Eyre. Is anyone familiar with Villette? I'm amidst creating a list of books for summer :wacky:

They turned out quite satisfactory, I daresay. At first I was appalled at the explicit scenes coming every now and then but then I remembered it's pretty much the same way with the book. Some characters were not quite to my liking, I mean, I imagined them differently, but that's just something you have to cope with. For example, Tyrion isn't as unprepossessing as Martin describes him. That actually came as a relief, I don't think I could bear so much ugliness as Martin presented in the books

Oh, A Feast for Crows to be added to my summer list, yes.

I've read Villette and loved it! Imo it's even better than Jane Eyre.

How very unchivalrous of you to say that, ser :phu:

:P I did think Dinklage looked like a hobbit, though, but probably because, having read and watched LOTR previously, I'd pictured him as Gimli.

I pictured him as the nastiest of dwarves, but he turned out almost appealing in the series. :P Still, Gimli's superiority among the dwarves is secured in my heart :nice:

Thank you, added :D Oh, and may I just say that in spite of my reading Jane Eyre again, I like far more "Wuthering Heights" and "Tenant of the Wildfell Hall" ( I know it's the other sisters' :P ) so I am looking forward to seeing if Villette is better too.

(I'm in your sig :o)

I love the show, I just wasn't quite happy about some changes in season 2. I feel like season 1 was extremely close to the books and I don't really understand most of the changes in season 2.

For me the episodes that George R. R. Martin has written himself were still the best, e.g. the battle of Blackwater Bay.

The third book will be split in two seasons though, so I hope for even more detail.

I must confess I haven't noticed some significant changes in season 2. It's because I've read "A Clash of Kings" about two years ago and don't precisely remember details so it's difficult to compare the two and second, there are still few episodes left that I need to see, when I find time. I hope nothing serious has been tampered with

I'm reading Witch and Wizard: The Gift by James Patterson and Ned Rust
