Q Magazine Make 3rd Coldplay Album Most Anticipated of 2005

Featured Replies

Q Magazine (Jan 2005 edition) revealed their number 1 anticipated album of 2005 is Coldplay's 3rd LP. Here's what they had to say:

The biggest albums and brightest new stars of the next 12 months revealed... Number 1 - Coldplay. The most anticipated album of this coming year.

"We came off tour thinking that we were the dog's bollocks," says guitarist Jonny Buckland. "We quickly realised that wasn't the case."

After spending the best part of a year working on the follow-up to 2002's A Rush Of Blood To The Head, the band recently ditched everything - including long-time producer Ken Nelson - to make a fresh start. Despite the upheaval, the album is set to see the light of day early this year. One thing they won't be doing, though, is playing a gig on Mount Everest - the band have denied reports that they were set to headline a charity gig there in June.

They say: "It will be the best thing that anyone's ever heard." - Chris Martin

We say: 2005 is there for the taking. Assuming they can overcome their perfectionism.

Expected: March

3 months! :P hehe can't wait!

3 months is too long :stunned: , I hope they release their first single like in early Feb. :smug:

Can't believe they've ditched Ken :stunned: He accepted a Grammy and everything

Ken Nelson is the producer any more,

that sounds like bad news

that's quite interesting :/

im so excited to listen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Most anticipated album of the year.... no pressure boys. :P

The last place (figuratively speaking) where I would want to be right now is in the boys' shoes. I would certainly buckle under the enormous pressure everyone is putting on them regarding the third album.

I really hope that the hyping does not go too far but with still three months to go and articles like Q's I'm afraid it will go sky high. And when you hype something to infinity and beyond, the hyped object will eventually always disappoint. And that would be very unfair.

I hope they realize it on March 1rst. CAUSE I CAN'T WAIT :wink3: Shoudn't we be starting to hear the first single?

lets practice some yoga to control our ansiety! :idea2:

   yoga could works!!! at least, it works for me!! :) but, there´s not really too much time. I mean, if the album came out at march, probably we will be listened one or more songs at february... which is a month... so.... is not to much!!!! ha, ha.. positive thoughs here!! ;)

the only thing I´m worried about is that Ken Nelson is not the producer anymore... I think he´s great... and a producer can change too much in the sound of a band!!!!

 fuck... I´m lying, I want to listened now!!! ha,ha.. ;)

Anyone ever heard of Dave Matthews Band? They made around 4 "classic" albums before they fired producer Steve Lillywhite several years ago because they wanted to sound different, and sure enough....they did. They sounded like crap. After a first listen of "Everyday", I put the CD back into it's case and literally threw it into the trash. Later, I sold it to a used CD store for $5 and saw that I wasn't the only person who sold it within the 1st week of release.

Funny thing is that later in the same year, Lillywhite went on to win a Grammy for "Producer Of The Year" for other work he did for U2.

I hope their heads didn't get too big and that letting Ken Nelson go was for a reason other than, "We thought we could do it better ourselves." He makes Coldplay sound like Coldplay. Without him, it's still Coldplay, but the way they're presented on the studio album will be different. :(

ah well good on the lads for taking a stand, and going for what they believe will sound the best! cant wait for the new album, the suspense is killing me! :)

by the way, with what bands the new producer has worked? I think that could give us some idea about the new COldplays sounds!! I´ve not listened to Dave Mathews, but I really hope COldplay keep their good sound.

Mexico hoy duele: zU.

I don't know, but I hope they don't sound more and more like Echo and the Bunnymen. They seemed to be heading into that direction because people got on their case about being soft and not "rockin' out". I quite prefer Parachutes and pre-Parachutes stuff over AROBTTH, although several songs did the trick. :)

I do think that firing a producer is a BIG step to take, however they are still Coldplay, and even with a different producer they may (and hopefully will) deliver the quality that we are used to and that everyone expects from them.

Yet... the pressure is a bit greater than the last time... I wouldn't want them to give us a crap album only to get rid of the pressure and then put out a brilliant one in to years or something... that would be bollocks...

Yet... as I do preach positive thinking.... let's all use this as our daily mantra: "Coldplay's third studioalbum is a brilliant one!" "Coldplay's third studioalbum is a brilliant one!" "Coldplay's third studioalbum is a brilliant one!" ....

hahahahahaahha

Could they really have ditched him?? I think he might have produced some tracks... maye they just didnt 'soley' use him, either way.... it'll be great.

yeah me too, i still think careful where you stand is the best thing they've ever done. it's so simple and sincere :)

Coldplay's third studioalbum is a brilliant one!" "Coldplay's third studioalbum is a brilliant one!" "Coldplay's third studioalbum is a brilliant one!"

:wideeyed:

  ;)

Mexico see you soon: Zu

yay! That's the spirit ZU!!!!!

*I almost thought that no one would catch on :embarrased: :P   *

;) I think you can do anything with positive spirit!!!

but keep praying...

I can't wait.

Anyone have any gossip on why they ditched Ken?

Conflicting directions? I can hardly think its a fall out at all, it is Coldplay.

Are they going to do a KID A then?
