seeing as i'm starting drving lessons soon and i have some way to go ...

i wondered if anyone else is learning to drive and how they are getting on? if you can already drive then how many lessons did it take you to learn?

I was very nervous when I first started... I was afraid to take control of the car. I was only 15 then, took driver's ed in school.. and by the end of 9 weeks.. I had my learner's permit. :)

that summer.. I went for my operators liscense. (You had to be 16 then in the state of Florida) :)

yeah sounds like its a little different in America .. we just apply for a provisional licence when you are 16 and then you can pass your test for the full licence when you are 17 ... so maybe lol in my dreams maybe i'll pass my test around Christmas ... hopefully

i got mine a month ago.... ahh, all the memories from that white vw polo... :cool4:

oh it's so complicated here in Israel... i had to take 50 lessons, and I only passed my third test- it cost a whole lot of money. I don't really like driving and I'm not so good at it either. I have had my license for exactly a month now

But i still can't drive alone because i need a 3 month supervision, so only 2 months left :)

the laws are different in each state... In NY I think you need to be 18 to get a driver's licsence... 16 for a learner's permit.

thats weird .. 3 months supervision after you've passed :stunned: .. but yeah 50 lessons thats quite a lot but practice makes perfect and you can't be bad if you passed ;)

ohh i see ... i think i'd get confused easily if i lived in America lol

well the minimum lessons you have to take is 28, usually people do 30 something. When I went to my first test I had had 40, and I took 5 more before each of the other two. Most people don't do 50, I just really suck at it...

I realllllly don't like driving. I'd rather sit in the back and not worry about anything

i'm thinking to take mines this september before get to uni...but i'll only take it if i get a new car (because my dad's car is too old to use it very often...) or if i'll go out to study... so may be i won't get it this year... :/

I hate being driven by somebody else. I like to be in control of my own destiny

Get into my car Ian, slap bang comes the wall

i had 28 lessons, i think the record here is over 250. and i passed in first try, don't know how, since i never drove before, and most of my schoolmates who drove before, failed.

well, you have nothing to be scared of. there's this guy with all the pedals down there, so if anything goes wrong, he can pull the steering wheel, too.

i guess driving isn't that bad. It's just that it started off bad for me when i couldn't pass the 2 tests and had to take 50 lessons....... oi i'm soooo glad i'm over and done with that stupid license- it really was a nightmare for me to get it

a friend is taking driving lessons (car lessons) and he'll take less than 30 i think..

but then again... with three other drivers in the family and one car only,... it's not much use, and they don't let me drive it all alone.

well yeah thats the thing .. once you have passed you then have to get a car .... i'll probably have enough by the time i learn but i will be out of money then ... especially as cars in the UK are so expensive

i am not thinking about buying myself a car yet... well, i'd need money, and i don't really need a car right away, ... and i probably wouldn't seem safe enough driving one alone... :/

lol you can't be that bad a driver .. especially if you've passed .. doesn't the freedom of being able to go where you want to, exactly when you want to appeal to you? i think thats why i can't wait to drive :D

yes, but it is scary at the same time.

and how i passed, is still beyond me.

no, we had a fight and it left me. :(

Driving is awesome. It is almost therapeutic to me sometimes. I look at it as a real life video game where you better not lose. I've been driving since I was 15 and love it.

since you were 15! i wish i could have driven a couple of years ago .. not sure you can be trusted at that age with a car though!
