Miami is about to get a whole lot hotter. That's because two of music's most sizzling commodities — 50 Cent and Coldplay — have been added to the star-studded roster of performers gracing the stage at this year's MTV Video Music Awards, the channel announced Monday (August 15).

Coldplay, who are nominated for four VMAs including Video of the Year for "Speed of Sound," and Fiddy, who's nominated for two VMAs including Best Male Video for "Candy Shop" and Best Rap Video with the Game for "Hate It or Love It," will join a list of previously announced performers Shakira, Ludacris, Mariah Carey, the Killers, Kanye West, Kelly Clarkson and Green Day (see "Ludacris, Shakira To Perform At Video Music Awards" and "Mariah Carey, Killers Added To Video Music Awards Performance Bill").

Also announced Monday was the latest batch of artists handing out the coveted Moonmen. Jessica Simpson, Lil Kim, Ricky Martin, Ashlee Simpson, Bow Wow, Eva Longoria, Nelly, Hilary Duff, Joel Madden from Good Charlotte, Ciara and Alicia Keys will join previously announced appearances by Usher, Jessica Alba, Orlando Bloom, Kirsten Dunst, Lindsay Lohan, Joss Stone, Jeremy Piven and Snoop Dogg, while Diddy will take over this year's hosting duties.

More announcements regarding performers and appearances are expected in the coming days and weeks leading up to the live August 28 broadcast.

Catch all the sizzlin', star-packed VMA action direct from Miami on August 28. MTV News' preshow kicks things off at 6 p.m. ET/PT, followed by the big show at 8 p.m.

thats great, thanks for taking the time to find this. they'll probably play fix you

great great great info,e don't forget to vote for Coldplay! :wink3:

Yay! Coldplay are going now. Hope they win and we get to hear one of Chris's infamous speeches.

hopefully it'll be Fix You... complete with fireworks and all... :wink3:

yay! this is great news, it will be terrific to see the guys on national tv once again.

that's sooo nice!I can't miss it! :P

Great. Now I have some reason to watch an award show which usually has shit performers. I don't care which song they'll play it's gonna be awesome anyway.

That's great news. I'm thinking they might do a medley of both songs. Isn't that what the performers usually do? Anyway, hope they win the big one that night too.

Wouldn't they do Speed of Sound since it's a faster song and usually performers do the upbeat ones at shows. But then again, Fix You is the new single and it does pick up the pace at the end... :surprised:

Yipeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee,oh i'm so excited!!I think its only 13 days away,its gonna be great!! :)

They'll probably play SoS cos it's nominated :( But FY is way better !

Oh no...does that mean we seriously have to watch it now :/ ?

But what don't you do for Coldplay :P

Good point. But at the vma's 2003 they'd perform 'The Scientist'. It's also a slower  .

But I hope they'll perform 'Fix You' to let outstanding people know how great this song is (who doesn't actually like coldplay or doesn't own X&Y).
