honestly, i dont think coldplay and radiohead sound alike at all everyone i know says x & y is coldplay's ok computer, these are 2 of my favorite bands and it kinda pisses me off, i can see where theyre coming from though... any thoughts?

people need to stop comparing these two.

I don't mind the comparisons too much if they're fair as some aspects of both bands can be compared and Coldplay are influenced by them (as well as by other people). But to say X&Y is Coldplay's OK Computer is too much. X&Y is the album where Coldplay have explored how far they can go with their "pop" sound. OK Computer on the other hand was just pure classic mind-blowing brit rock - the sound of Radiohead throwing an all out offensive on guitar-driven alt-rock and experimenting with various styles of music. X&Y is deliberately much more conservative (and stylistically limited) than OK Computer. I'll start comparing OK Computer with Coldplay when they actually put out an album that's comparable.

i get a different vibe when listening to each of these bands

i think the whole radiohead vrs. coldplay started right at parachutes. maybe is just me, but i think that "the bends" by radiohead sounds similar to "paracutes".

Muse and Coldplay are always being compared to Radiohead. Especially with Parachutes and Showbiz. It gets annoying, but it seems impossible for some people to not compare bands to each other. It just happens.

coldplay is no comparison to Radiohead.. on any level.

some of the guitar parts on twisted logic sound like radiohead or influenced by radiohead. the same goes for the new b side world turned upside down

didnt coldplay already confessed that their album ripped of other bands?

they've said they were influenced by a few people while making the album

I know that bigger stronger is ripped of radiohead like coldplay themselves said...but I think that radiohead's stile of music is very diferent of coldplay's stile...

Yeah...i dont hear that much similarity between the two myself...but i guess some do :rolleyes:

But don't you dare mention Coldplay on the message boards of diehard radiohead ONLY fans. They will tear into you like no other. They are ruthless and do nothing but cut Coldplay down by calling them posers and copycats. It really makes me mad. Cause I am a huge fan of both groups, but jesus, thy need to simmer.

even mentioning that you like coldplay to a radiohead fan will result in getting your head chopped off. i personally love radiohead more than coldplay, but i can see why they get all uptight.

^ That's why I'm scared to post on the Radiohead message boards. Reading it is just fine by me.
