September 1, 200520 yr Hi was thinking about what bands influenced coldplay. just thought it might be a good idea, as i haven't heard some of the music by these bands. are there anymore bands that aren't on the list? (in no particular order) Jeff Buckley U2 Radiohead New Order Kraftwerk Brian Eno Echo And The Bunnymen Sigor Ros Kate Bush Johnny Cash Mercury Rev Bob Dylan Flaming Lips The Beatles REM David Bowie Elbow Pink Floyd Arcade Fire Interpol Maybe some of the bands influences aren't just of a musical nature, i don't know?

September 2, 200520 yr where did you see this thing about muse influence? - anyway, i don´t think coldplay is original. they´re normal. they kick ass ok.. but i guess they´re lucky to have this "best band" status.. just a lack of bands in the moment and they appeared in the right time. they only started to play well enough to deserv its attention on X&Y. - muse should be more recognized that they are.. but they still very alternative for the greneral public.. coldplay is pop.. good pop music.. there´s this talk aout alternative but you only can pick just 2 or 3 songs in their albums that are really alternative. muse is the inverse( excluding showbiz).
September 3, 200520 yr where did you see this thing about muse influence? Check out ezine#6 page 5 for Clocks... http://www.coldplay.com/content/ezine/documents/ezine6.pdf and with a huge thanks to GazeboflossUK, track 21 from here: http://www.coldplaying.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=21034
September 3, 200520 yr I think the Beatles are a big influence on them. He named his daughter Apple, which is also the name of a Beatles record company. Im not sure if this has any connection but it might.
September 3, 200520 yr there's no doubt that U2 has had the biggest influence on Coldplay, not necessarily musically but professionally as well. There's always the inevitable "the next U2" comparisons as Coldplay strives to replaces U2 as the biggest band in the world. Chris Martin is a professed fan of U2, as the Rolling Stones article stated, he knows U2's entire catalog. It's actually quite heartwarming to hear just how much Martin is in awe of Bono and the band.
March 4, 201115 yr Pixies and ride also (well for jonny anyway) Will is a big fan of Chilli peppers and finds dave grohl the best drummer ever...well not ever but i know his one of his fav's. :P That made me so happy :wideeyed:
