July 15, 200619 yr They're from Sheffield, in the north (England). Their influences are things like Oasis, The Strokes, The Libertines (if you're a Libs fan the resemblence is uncanny, I love it), maybe Velvet Underground, White Stripes, etc etc. Guitar driven stuff. IBTYLGOTDF is an anagram for I Bet That You Look Good On The Dance Floor, their song. ;) Thanks a lot for the info. Oh ok, i didn't listened that song,
July 15, 200619 yr Oh I wasn't being mean! Just found it funny. IBTYLGOTD stands for 'I Bet That You Look Good On The Dancefloor', the band's first single. :) They are from Sheffield, England. I highly reccommend buying their album, "Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not'. It's amazing. Every track is brilliant.
July 15, 200619 yr Pahahaa, im so fucking slow. I need to stop typing, then looking at other stuff, then coming back and posting :laugh4: :laugh4:
July 15, 200619 yr Oh my gosh, you MUST buy their album. It literally is a must have. You will become addicted and will never be the same again. Believe me. :bigcry: The Monkeys have destroyed me!!!!!! :laugh4:
July 15, 200619 yr ^I wouldn't say better than the album, but yeah it's pretty damn good. Danielle - so true, so true! :wreck:
July 15, 200619 yr Hmmmm, yeah 'Who The Fuck' is definately recommended. It obviously can't stand up to the album as a whole, it just doesn't have the same "wealth" of music in it to really compare. But I think on a whole some of the songs on Who The Fuck are better than some on Whatever People Say..., in my opinion of course. No Buses and Cigarette Smoker are two of my favorite songs ever at the moment.
July 15, 200619 yr Heh, im just listening to Cigarette Smoker right now. :) Has such a sexy sound to it :wink3: It's funny...you realise how much you love an album when you are making a mix CD for your car and it just ends up an Arctic Monkeys mix CD because you cant choose which songs to put on
July 15, 200619 yr 'Whatever people say' is more powerful in my opinion whereas 'Who the fuck*' is more contemplative i'd say
July 15, 200619 yr What do you think the 2 cover songs will be on the next single (Leaving before the lights come on)?
July 15, 200619 yr perhaps something by The Strokes ... they seem to adore their music ... or 'No One Knows' by the queens of the stone age ...lol naaaah, i don't know. but imagine them covering a coldplay song :D
July 15, 200619 yr Oh shit, ok. If they covered ANYTHING by either a) The Strokes or b) The Libertines I would just keel over and die. Because it would be way too perfect. Maybe they'll do another Girls Aloud cover...... :laugh4: Class. They should cover The Libertines 'What A Waster'. I want to hear Alex sing the word "c*nt". haha. EDIT: Whoa. That is such a bad word on here apparently. I fucking love the word.... c*nt. LMFAO LMFAO It's so powerful! cunt cunt cunt cunt cunt cunt CUNT!!!!! OMG LMFAO IT DOESN'T CENSOR IT IF IT'S IN CAPS?! LMFAO CUNT! CUNT CUNT CUNT CUNT CUUUNT!
July 15, 200619 yr lmfaoooooooooooo sorry for all the CUNTs, hahahaha. I just have a mild obsession with that word because.... well, I actually don't know why. I just like saying it. :uhoh:
July 15, 200619 yr lmfao, good point. I'm so unclassy. :laugh4: Anyways, yeah. Ohhhh I really think thaaaat they should cover something by Coldplay. that would be so strange.
July 15, 200619 yr Ah, here is a fresh example of how idiotic people are on the AM forum (in particular, the Alex thread): He's not getting any better-looking as he gets older, is he. I remember how cute he was, back when he was a teenager. ............... LMFAO HE'S JUST BARELY 20. And "back when" was only like... 2 months ago. LMFAO THESE PEOPLE ARE DOUCHES.
July 16, 200619 yr from mardy-bum.com: The covers for the new Arctic Monkeys single 'Leave Before The Lights Come On' have been confirmed. As you may remember, we recently reported that the two b-sides to the single were both going to be covers - one an old song and one a song by one of their favourite groups. Now, the legend famous for putting up "those" demos on the internet all that time ago, running the official website and being a good friend of Arctic Monkeys, known simply as 'The Sheriff', has confirmed to us what the two b-sides are. The 60's song will be 'Baby I'm Yours' by Barbara Lewis and the cover by one of their favourite groups will be 'Put Your Dukes Up, John' by The Little Flames. Incidentally, both of these songs are sang by females.
