Anyone ruined for life bc they were spoiled before?

Featured Replies

I have to say im reading these things about getting 19th row and such which im not denying a great seats BUT last time i saw coldplay was at the House of Blues in Orlando years ago and i was right in front of chris (AND i only paid about 20 dollars!!). Simply put it was the most amazing concert ive ever been to but now i hate it because anything beyond row 10 is considered "okay" for me. Its horrible! I wish i could be more appreciative of good seats. Im getting tickets from the orlando presale and im hoping for "good" seats by my standards but the chances of that are slim to none so im just going to get what i get and try and be happy with it. Im of course thankful i had that one experience with coldplay but its just tainted me on my ticket buying experience wiht them from now on

Anyone else suffering from this??

kate

YES.

I missed them on the 2003 tour (right after I really got familiar with the music), so when I heard they were coming last summer I was like " It's all or nothing!" I got tickets to Cincinnati and Detroit. I lucked out and got GA pit and row HH, respectively through the presale. Drove 4 hours to meet my friend in Cinn. We got front center against the railing, because we were there hours before the gates opened ( even heard the soundcheck! I about passed out!) click the stars in my signature, it is a link to my pics and story captioning it. It is so out of order but it is not hard to understand. It was the best experience ever. then went to the Det show weeks later. MY SEATS SUCKED compared to the others of course. I wish it had been the other way around!

It really does spoil it and make your expectations higher for seats next time. So of course I didnt get the presale for Det. this time. Got Cleveland, but I screwed up and didnt realize the seating and passed up 6th row. STUPID ME. Oh well. I have one ticket for Det. from the general sale. its not horrible. but still. One of my friends is bidding on the front row, so maybe if I happen across some large amount of money or win the lottery I will bid also.

I see where you guys are coming from! I've only been to one concert and I had an AMAZING time. Now I have seats for this March in DC and I'm worried that my seats aren't as good. I know I'll still have a blast, but I just don't want to get caught up in comparing the two shows. It seems really hard to get great seats anymore, especially if you are a poor college student with a crappy part time job!! Oh, the sacrifices we must make for our boys!

I hear ya! My first coldplay concert was last summer in seattle and we were able to get in the pit. Wehad chris singing like 5 feet in front of us. Most amazing night ever!!! But I was only able to get lower level seats this time, which aren't that bad, but I can't stop comparing them, it's terrible!!!

Yeah, I agree. When we went to the gigs in 2002, we were there early for every one, and we ended up on the rail, or just behind it for every gig. Since then, we've been further back (and always behind people who are taller than me), and I'm always disappointed a little, not with the band, of course, but with where I'm standing. My mate, who I go to gigs with, says she's done the barrier thing, and she wants to just chill further back.

I don't.

I want to be at the front again...

Get there early and you get to the rail...........

im a bit of a concert whore.. and every concert i go to .. i try to get the best seats available and it usually works out that im within like 10 rows from the front at every concert i go to..

but luckily the two coldplay concerts ive been to i havent been near the front yet.. i went with non-cooperative friends  who arent nearly as obsessed as i am. so i havent been spoiled for coldplay yet :D.. altho i hope to be in the near future

One thing that I do find disappointment are the bloody great big footlights they use at the front of the stage. They block everything, especially if you're standing in view of one of them as what happened to me at the 28th June Crystal Palace gig. I kept having to lean this way and that just to see anything...

I suppose it just depends where you go, doesn't it. In another way, I've been spoilt coz I 've seen them at some really small venues, and they've definitely been the best times. When I see them now at huge arenas, it takes something away.

Agree. I saw them at Club Koko on June 6th. That was AWESOME!

I was about 4 foot away from Guy Berryman. Best night of my life!

totally agree. First show was Minneapolis this September. Sat third row center. fricken unbelievable. will not sit further then 5th row again.

I saw them for the first time in August and was 2nd level, row 3 at an outdoor amphitheater. This time I'm 2nd level, row 3 in a basketball arena which is a lot closer to the stage than the last show. I'm happy with my seats...maybe happier than last time.

similar story for me. I was lucky enough to score tix thru the presale for the show back in September here in NYC at Madison Square Garden.. both nights. Hate pretty good seats (16th or 18th row) I can't remember.. anyhoo... that was only the 3rd time I was seeing them. The first time was a bit more intimate.. but not a full on concert.. anyhoo.. this Talk the Tour thing gets announced.. I didn't get any presale ops.. nor could I purchase tix thru ticketmaster at the general sale because of $$ :embarrased: and then when I did have money.. I checked the site... tix were available... but not on the floor. :embarrased: and now I am spoiled.. and I don't want to go alone. I would.. but, the seats are all away from the stage.... :embarrased:

now I really want to gooooooooooooooo!! :bigcry:

Wow I am coming from a totally different perspective. I have never been to a Coldplay concert but seriously, just being at one will be amazing for me! I could care less if i am in last row (well.. maybe.. jk). See it is soo much easier to get front row at Keane concerts but Coldplay is a whole entire league (also reflected in their ticket prices..lol)!! So I can't relate but I will be really happy if I can see them in Orlando on March 4!

First time I saw them was at a festival in 2001, so we were quite a way back, probly about 30-40 rows of people back because we didn't want to get stuck in as we were wondering between stages. At the time, that was fantastic because I'd been waiting to see them for ages and they didn't disappoint in the slightest (nor for my friend, who's a bigger fan than me) So I know you will enjoy going to see them for the first time, no matter where you are - the atmosphere will be fantastic and Coldplay fans are the best :D

Next time I saw them the year after was in a venue that probly didn't hold 30-40 rows of people and we were on the barrier by Guy. Hell of a difference, and that was what completely spoiled me. It will always be my favourite gig tho'.

This exact thing happened to me for the Killers. I loved them when they were a small indie band and I saw them in a hella small venue. I was literally next to them and nowhere in the venue was considered a bad seat. However now that they are much bigger, I can only afford crappy seats and when I watched them in a larger venue the crappy seats totally ruined it for me.

yes.

although, maybe i've still been spoiled recently because i was pretty much almost front row (pit) when i saw them this summer.

but now i just paid somewhere around $80 for their upcoming show in March. too much i tell you.. too much, but i did it anyways. at least i got pretty decent seats. 100 level, i think.

I've seen them all 5 times they've been in Denver. I saw them debut AROBTTH in the club tour with only about 400 inside and being about 4 yards away from Chris. I met the band during a soundcheck with about 10 others and then was in 2nd row during the show. Did both Red Rock shows including the 2nd night in pooring rain in 1st row.

I've had amazing luck so far and I love every memorable moment. I've got 14th row floor tickets this tour so I wont have bad seats at all this time around. It will only get harder to get close to the band (meeting and ticket-wise) and more expensive but I'm not terribly worried. :D

my first coldplay concert, i had front row in front of jonny. nothing could ever beat that.

I was in the pit, first row, at my first Coldplay concert too...other seats just can't compare

yea, luckily i got good seats for the presale so i don't have to be dissapointed as i would have been with bad seats. But its just going to smack me in the face eventually when they become like Rolling Stones or something and i can't afford any good seats!

Same here. I have been to 9 shows and 7 of them I was right in front up against the rail infront of Jonny or Chris. The other 2 shows I was quite a bit back but the shows were still great but not as great as they are right up front. I am spoiled when it comes to seeing them and I like to be as close as possible. Thank God for my friend Angie! I will be seeing my 10th show in Dallas in the 5th Row!

Similar to the House of Blues story, the first time I saw them was in Birmingham at a concert hall!! NOT A BAD SEAT IN THE HOUSE! I fell in love! I've had bad luck with Coldplay though. The Rush of Blood tour, I got tickets to see them in ATL, one of four venues they were playing before they went back to Europe. The venue flooded, and we got there right after they played an acoustic show out front! This year, got ticks in the presale for Birmingham and invited a friend from AZ! We all know how that ended up! Cancelled and no show within 300 miles for a makeup!! WOW!

Ive only been to one show, in NC. We had 3rd row, but they were way off to the side. That wasnt so bad though, cause chris ran right by me twice and just being close was awesome.

I have tickets for the DC show, front center floor, im not sure what row however. How does one get into the pit anyway?

I can't relate--

I've only had lawn tickets. :P
