January 10, 200620 yr Is anyone else as unimpressed by the record industry's attempts to recreate the Brit-Pop days (Oasis, Blur, Pulp & Supergrass etc.) of the mid 90's as I am. The acts which are being hyped up today ie, Kaiser Chiefs, Bloc Party, Arctic Monkeys, Razorlight, Babyshambles, Franz Ferdinand, and Hard Fi can't hold a candle to the acts mentioned above, and I'm saying this as a person who's not a fan of Oasis et al. The worst of this terrible bunch are Hard Fi. How did they manage to blag a record deal? I could fart into a brown paper bag and it would sound better than the rubbish they are inflicting on the airwaves. I think I can say with confidence that none of these bands will still be around in ten years time. If I'm wrong I'll eat my shorts. PS. As always, when I make a disparaging remark about a singer or band that I dislike, I don't do so to annoy or upset anybody. I'm just voicing my opinion. And I'm curious to know who agrees or disagrees.
January 10, 200620 yr mhh ... yeah, might be like that. [did you watch that show on BBC world? ... think it was called "the britpop story" or something like that] never liked the kaiser chifes or bloc party or har dfi ... but i think that franz ferdinand and the arctic monkeys are the only ones who could 'survive' that hype.
January 10, 200620 yr ohh i really like kaiser chiefs (of course ;) ), hard-fi franz ferdinand and arctic monkeys :D
January 10, 200620 yr brit pop wasn't even that good anyway. it was all hyped up, if you ask me. and it won't happen again.
January 10, 200620 yr I like both brit pop waves ... they were right at thier time and the new one is so fucking fresh ... I love all those new bands. I love Brit Pop in General :)
January 11, 200620 yr I THINK I HEARD HARD FI oops anyway do one of the lyrics go , "im trying to phone a freind" cause if they do thats one horrible song and one bad band
January 11, 200620 yr I think it will be hard to successfully repeat the glory days of Britpop because its existence was quite unprecedented. Right now, when the industry tries to "recreate" Britpop, it won't be as fresh and as honest as before.
January 11, 200620 yr music is shite right now, its sad that newer bands still can't compete with the likes of OASIS. I mean, this is sad.. where is the good competition? the new wave of brit pop, give me a break. Its difficult to recreate something like that,so I'd wish they'd just give it up and juet let it go and then maybe something mega will happen. music was better quality than the shite being produced now, bar oasis, coldplay and libs(thats over). there are a few other bands tolerable, but all basically mediocre.
January 11, 200620 yr it's pretty obvious that the new brit pop wave can't be compared to the 90's bands such as oasis, radiohead, pulp, blur or the verve.....but what can't we do? people will always try to imitate the recipe for success, we'll have to see where will they be ten yeras from now
January 12, 200620 yr I think is not only Brit-Pop who is coming back. I mean, that there is a lot of "similar" bands right now that look like Brit, but they come from all over the world. They play almost the same than "brit bands"
