The extreme cold in Russia :(

Featured Replies

Uuh, I just heard that people have died there in Moscow b/c of the cold.. -35 celcius degrees :o it's amazingly cold.. and it's coming here too but I guess it's not going to be as cold as there in Russia.. Here where I live is now -22 celcius degrees and it feels rather cold too, and it's getting colder. We've used to cold weather but -35 sounds pretty awful!!

i don't see big difference between -22 and -35...

 it's only one of reasons why people die at -35,they would die at -22 as well...

in Russia live a lot of homeless people, they don't have their own home, they don't know where to run...it happens every year and will happen till democracy will born there...in Siberia for example the temparature sometimes is less than -50,so just be happy that you were born at the right place

Omg I'm sitting in my flat in russia and there's sooo cold, and outside is -31 now....Not good at all

oh theres a BIG difference...like even if a place is 2-3 degree colder or warmer on average in a area it can bring about big changes if it last over a few years or so...

-33 :stunned: Brrr...

Yeah, so cold. All Schools are closed now in Moscow. So I have to sit home for a whole day and browse the web.

there's no big difference between Russia and Finland in this way.both are very cold at the winter.i'd be surprised if Finland would never had -30 at winter.

it's a social question.the percent of homeless or jobless people in Finland not as high as in Russia...the average temperature in Moscow during the winter same or very close to Finland's.

I'm happy I'm living in holland where it won't get colder than -5? :P

Some people say that the new ice age is coming...

Yeah, heard that on the news here, from a correspondent.

^^ :D. its really very bad for that russian people but its something related to the government. government should take precautions as well as people...

Of course, but when there's weather as bad as that there's not much one can do.

I'm happy I'm living in holland where it won't get colder than -5?

Egypt doesn't get lower than 17

you guys are really lucky!

i gotta tell ya some facts maybe you havent heard of before. yes, -30 is damn COLD! but in terms of latitude, China is very very cold(maybe even the coldest)in winter. i'm not kidding, people in the very nothern parts of China wont be surprised if the forecast reports -30, and the fact is these parts are on lower latitudes than Holland!

My location, Shanghai is situated on about the same latitude as Alexandria, Egypt. if you've got a world map, you'll find it's even on lower latitude than Los Angeles and Dallas! but, in winter the temperature will sometimes drop to -2to -3 degrees celcius! the extremity will be -5to -6 degrees! so, its rather cold, even some European guys cant bear it! Believe it or not, the January mean temperature of Shanghai is only about 4 degrees celcius, too cold for its latitude!

just a little bit warmer than London!

just as mrcool011 has said, in Seberia the temperature is sometimes less than -50 degrees! and Seberia is the very factory of cold waves! every year starting from late autumn, cold waves from Seberia and Mongolia go down to China torrentially, sometimes the tmeperature drops by more than 10 degrees within 12 hrs! you know, Shanghai is a costal city, 10+ degrees within 12hrs is horrible!

well, i feel really sorry for those who died from extreme coldness in Russia! anyway, cold weather is damn terrible! and thats why i hate winter!

The weather today is awful. It's still cold, but additionally it's snowing and windy. I came out of my flat only in the morning, to buy a magazine, but my hands got cold in a minute...

Here has today been about from -20 to -25 .. somewhere in Finland (don't remember where :P) was more than -40 yesterday if I remember correctly :(

It hurts my face to walk out there :D But apart from it, I'm not complaining. It's a good excuse to just sit home at my computer or listen some music.. :D

yes I heard. There was -27
