Gwyneth Paltrow is supporting her pop star friend Madonna through her divorce, the Hollywood actress has revealed.

 

At the premiere of her new file Two Lovers, part of the BFI London Film Festival, the Oscar winner said: "She's a very good friend. I'm supporting her in all the ways that I can. I'm just there for her. I speak to her a lot."

 

The pair have a well publicised friendship and are both yoga fans as well as splitting their time between the US and UK.

 

Paltrow's new film, in which she stars with Joaquin Phoenix, tells the tale of a heartbroken man whose parents set him up with the daughter of a family friend.

 

But he meets Michelle (Paltrow) a volatile woman who has recently moved into the same apartment block.

 

Wearing a long black dress Paltrow, who will start work on Iron Man II next year, said she was attracted to the film because of director James Gray's European sensibilities.

 

But the award-winning actress said she has no intention of overworking.

 

She said: "I'll never do the five movies a year thing ever again but one or two good ones, I'm game."

 

The wife of Coldplay front man Chris Martin has launched a newsletter Goop, with lifestyle tips for fans.

 

Asked where the strange name came from, she said: "It means anything. GP are my initials and it's an old nickname."

so let's get this straight...the BBC can broadcast things outside the UK when they want to...

that shawl/jacket thing better not be real fur (if it even is fur and not wool...but it looks like fur to me :thinking:)

 

i don't mind that the dress is long at all...it IS getting colder out, and i love gowns. i'd like to know what the sleeves looked like, though.

Looks like some of Mary Kate's fashion sense rubbed off on Gwinnie whilst she trailed in close proximity to the Olsens at Heathrow last week! Egad! Please God, don't let her get too close to Amy Winehouse or we'll all be in for a right old treat. :o I thought she was eyeing Mary Kate with a little more than her usual dismissive perusal.

 

I love Gwyneth but I think she enjoys pushing our plebeian buttons way too much at times. She almost seemed to be "havin' a laugh" during the interview. :D I know I was. ;) Can't wait to hear Chris' reaction to the film....but I know we'll probably never hear it. Oh to be a fly on the wall..........

Gwyneth Paltrow and 4-year-old daughter Apple Blythe Alison were spotted enjoying the warm weather in London on Sunday by shopping at the Belsize Park Street Market. Gwyneth lifted Apple up onto her hip so the little girl could check out the goods laid out on the tables.

 

Gwyneth, 36, and husband Chris Martin of Coldplay are also parents to son Moses, 2 ½.

Anne Hathaway stole the show at the London Film Festival as she dazzled in a strapless blue and purple dress.

The 25-year-old actress easily outdazzled Gwyneth Paltrow, who went for a baggy, Gothic number at her screening on the opposite side of Leicester Square.

 

The Devil Wears Prada star bravely kept on smiling as she stood in the wet at the premiere of her latest film Rachel Getting Married.

 

 

Hathaway admitted her dress was pretty soaked, but she was thrilled to be showing off the movie in the British capital.

Meanwhile, Paltrow was forced to shun her customary high heels on the red carpet in favour of flats.

 

 

She said: 'I hurt my knee just being silly so I'm in flat shoes tonight.'

She opted for a gothic-style look in a black column dress by Salvatore Ferragamo protecting herself against a rainy London night in a black fur shrug by Felder & Felder.

Instead of hurrying inside to get dry, Hathaway - aided by a group of minders carrying umbrellas - signed autographs and greeted the hundreds of fans who had waited outside in the pouring rain for a glimpse of their idol.

 

She said: 'I've been rained on and almost tripped on the red carpet.'

Determined not to let the rain ruin her big night, Hathaway said she was feeling happy and confident following her high-profile split from long-term love Raffaello Follieri in the summer.
