A raft of star-studded celebrity backers including actress Gwyneth Paltrow have helped luxury fashion group Burberry boost trading over the key Christmas period, writes Rupert Steiner.

Endorsements by movie stars helped attract a younger, more aspirational shopper to the 155-year-old firm, which saw underlying sales rise a hefty 14 per cent over the three months to December 31.

The shares rose 5 per cent after finance director Stacey Cartwright said full-year profits, which analysts forecast at between £254million and £291million, would be at the higher end of expectations.

 

Burberry (up 56p to 1115p) has benefited from wealthy tourists splashing out on its trademark camel, red and black check trench coats, boosting total revenues to £480million from £380million for the period, and is aiming for continued success with its spring collection, pictured.

Cee-Lo Green’s spiteful throwback “Forget You” (or “F**K You” for fans of the uncensored) was an internet sensation when it hit Youtube months ago. Then it got that much bigger when Fox’s cheery phenomenon, Glee, put their spin on it courtesy of actress Gwyneth Paltrow’s fun remix. The reception was so great that the two hit the studio recently to record the song as a duet. And though he doesn’t know exactly when, in an interview with Access Hollywood Cee-Lo promises we’ll get to hear it soon.

 

“We went to the studio in New York and we did our own specialized version of ‘Forget You’ together and I’m not sure how they’re gonna release [it],” he says in the clip. Green calls it a “cool little treat for people to have and enjoy.” It’s an odd pairing, but doesn’t hurt the song a bit. I’m looking forward to hearing what they cooked up. How about you? Gwyneth Paltrow: May Fair Fabulous!

Gwyneth Paltrow leaves the May Fair hotel in a gray fitted asymmetrical dress in London on Thursday (January 20).

 

The 38-year-old Country Strong singer recently took a promotional trip to Switzerland for her movie.

 

American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson recently tweeted that she loved Gwyneth’s voice! She said, “Gwyneth Paltrow please make an album. You have such an honest and captivating voice!”

 

And in case you missed it, Gwynie hosted Saturday Night Live over the weekend!

I was at the May Fair hotel last week, only celebs I saw though were JLS :P

 

There were all these girls waiting for them outside, we were talking with them whilst my friend had a cigarette, they waited there most weeks apparently and had all these photos of them on their phone. :lol: They were only very young though and it was like 10pm. [/random story]

Not as often as I'd like, so expensive :( I was there this time last year though actually, I was visiting my my very good friend from here (melanieau) in Florida and she paid for us to go for my birthday :blush:

why wasnt Chris with her, like wasnt he at the event?

^ They've both said in the past that they don't want to be seen together. It's just their way to stay out of the public eye, and keep a private home life.
