Paltrow decided to return to films for her children

 

Washington, Feb 6 (ANI): Oscar winning actress Gwyneth Paltrow has returned to acting, to become a more interesting mother to her kids and will now be seen opposite Robert Downey Jr in the film 'Iron Man'.

 

The 'Shakespeare in Love' actress, who took a break from acting after the birth of her second child Moses last year, has said that she initially wanted to commit to being home and that she decided to return to films, for she thought that she must pursue a 'passion for something besides her family'.

 

"Then I finally agreed to do this movie. I reached a place where I thought, 'It's okay that I have a passion for something besides my family," Contactmusic quoted her, as saying.

 

The 34- year old actress has also stated that she loves doing films and that if she does one thing that makes her feel accomplished, then she would think of herself as an interesting person for her children.

 

"I love making films. If I do one thing that makes me fulfilled, then I'm a more interesting woman for my children," she added.

 

Paltrow is married to Chris Martin of the British rock group Coldplay and the couple has two children Apple and Moses. (ANI)

A little ice and a bad cold, courtesy of her son, can't derail Gwyneth Paltrow.

On Thursday night, the Oscar-winning actress, 34, braved Manhattan's icy streets and frigid temps to host a diamond jewelry action at the St. Regis hotel to raise money for the city's first Hope Lodge, which provides free housing for adult cancer patients during their treatment.

 

"It's for a really good cause. This has been planned for a long time, so I couldn't take a sick day today," she says.

 

The cause hits close to home: Paltrow's father, Bruce, died in 2002 after a struggle with throat cancer.

 

"My life has been affected by cancer in so many different ways. When my father had cancer, he found it so isolating. It's very difficult to empathize with it if you haven't gone through it."

 

After spending the previous two years largely playing mom to Apple, 2, and Moses, 10 months, Paltrow is back as a nagging wife in The Good Night, her brother Jake's directorial debut. She also just signed on to play Robert Downey Jr.'s personal assistant, Virginia "Pepper" Potts, in Iron Man.

 

"I haven't done a real part in a long time. I'm going back to work now," she says. "When I had kids, I just wanted to be with them." But doing one movie a year "makes you more interesting as a person and wife (to Coldplay frontman Chris Martin) and mother."

Gwyneth Paltrow ignored the icy weather conditions in New York last night to host a diamond charity auction.

 

The Oscar-winning actress explained that she wanted to attend the auction for Hope Lodge, which provides free housing for adults with cancer, as "it's a really good cause".

 

Her father, Bruce, died in 2002 from throat cancer.

 

"My life has been affected by cancer in so many different ways," she told USA Today.

 

"When my father had cancer, he found it so isolating. It's very difficult to empathise with it if you haven't gone through it."

 

Paltrow also admitted feeling under the weather but was determined to play host at it had "been planned for a long time…I couldn't take a sick day".

 

Fans of the actress, who has taken some time out from her job to spend time with her husband, the Coldplay singer Chris Martin, and their two children, will no doubt be happy to hear that she will soon be back on the big screen.

 

She is appearing in The Good Night and is set to star in Iron Man; work which she claims makes her "more interesting as a wife and mother".
