April 1, 200620 yr Twentieth Century Fox has confirmed that popular animated TV series The Simpsons is to be made into a film. The movie will be released in the United States in July 2007. A 25-second trailer for the film has been shown to US audiences at screenings of Ice Age: The Meltdown, promising to introduce "the greatest hero in American history". It then cut to Homer Simpson, wearing only his underwear, who admitted: "I forgot what I was supposed to say." The Simpsons revolves around the antics of bald, beer-guzzling family man Homer and his spiky-haired son Bart. International hit It is the longest-running prime-time entertainment series on television in the US and a worldwide hit. It is currently in its 17th season, and last month, US network Fox confirmed it had commissioned two more series. This ensured the show would stay on screens until at least 2008. There has long been speculation about whether it would be turned into a film. Creator Matt Groening said last year that the animated hit would keep going as long as he and his colleagues could keep generating fresh ideas. "That's what you're looking for in television - surprise," he added. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/4867252.stm
April 2, 200620 yr Yeah, I'm looking forward to it although the new episodes were really boring and not very funny. ;)
April 2, 200620 yr Dang beat me to the thread! I'm going to start camping infront of theatres to be first line! I love this show! True its gotten less funnier, but after 17 seasons can you really blame them?!? I still get a few chuckles out of watching the newer episodes. They're really not as bad as people make it out to be.
April 3, 200620 yr Supposedly the plot surrounds Homer accidently creating a nuclear meltdown, and the Government builds a dome that covers the entire city of springfield in order to prevent a national disaster.

April 3, 200620 yr Yep, The Simpsons (like Only Fools and Horses) have out-lasted their time in the spotlight, they have "jumped the gap", should have ended when it was funny, which nowadays it isn't funny whatsoever
April 4, 200620 yr I saw the preview on FOX this past Sunday after the Simpsons.... it looks really funny. Homer says at the end.. "July 2007-oh we better get started then!"
April 5, 200620 yr This movie will either be really funny or really cringeworthy. I'm hoping it's the former!
June 7, 200620 yr I hope it lives up to the great expectations that people are banking in on it .. it's been too long and delayed ..
