me too! actually, before i even knew the song was coldplay, back when it was played every 5 minutes on the radio, i somehow internalized jonny's guitar riff and my head would subconsciously play it whenever i was really happy or had some sort of personal victory. and then when i listened to AROBTTH for the first "real" time in may 2005, i was like "OMG, that's coldplay?!" i felt like i knew that song better than any other in the world!

OMG. That's exactly what I do!! LOL. Except I always heard it on VH1 when they play background music in their specials. :P And it sounded so lovely and happy...and that riff would always play in my head when I was happy. It wasn't til I got AROBTTH that I found out that it was Coldplay, just like you did! :D

boxcar contents

:laugh3: Its the American TV that is streamed 24/7 on to our screens that taught us all the tricks (is CSI not American?)

Excuses, excuses!:P Sure, blame it on US! (Hmm.. and where is that Rupert fellow from, anyhow??:laugh3:) It's an international world, whether we like it or not.:dozey: Unfortunately in a way, crime is seem as exciting and voyeristic, so there's always been an appeal that way..

..Well anyhow Rachel, care for any commodities?? I heisted several boxcars of flattened autos, and the metals market is booming!:P

Anyone hear of the term 'audiodrugs'? Someone suggested on a radio program that a lot of modern music does something to our brains - tweaks certain neurons in one part, and gets us hooked.. Is this true of Coldplay's music?? I wonder, how bad could this be, anyhow??:wacky::hat:

:stunned:

that's semi-creepy, annie. but also really cool!!

this is semi-coldplay related: i just discovered that before gwyneth married chris, she dated robert sean leonard, who plays dr. wilson on house, which is my favorite TV show! that surprised the crap out of me!

sorry, just had to share how shocked i was...

lol really?! :laugh3:

that wilson guy?

i mean..

she's dated plenty of celebs before.

such as ben affleck and brad pitt, but... lol.

so funny, that hugh laurie eactually reminds me a lot of chris.

i've been browsing that homepage called songmeanings.com or something like that for quite a while because i wanted to know what people actually think about several bright eyes songs.

yeah, i love reading people's opinions about particular songs.

whatsover.

there's this page everyone writes how they interpret songs.

and i randomly looked up "trouble" because we mentioned it earlier in this thread.

well, i hope it's not disrespectful to the erson who wrote this (if she's ever gonna read it), but i found her paragraph very touching and...i wanted to share it with you.

[it's 5:44 am; i'm horribly tired, but fuck)

I always found this song beautiful, but it never had any real meaning to me until my boyfriend died two years ago. The last day of his life I went over to his house and he told me he loved me. He had been in a deep state of depression for the past few months prior to his death. His parents medicated him and planned on moving away. He didnt want to, so he took his own life. I always remember lying on his bed with him listening to this song, crying and thinking about how much we meant to each other. That was the last time I ever saw him and everytime this song comes on I think about how he played it for me.

:stunned: Oh.My.Gosh! I love that show...I can never watch it the same now....*shiver*

My school books came today and I flipped through my music theory (ugh!) book. I thought I would understand most of it and I thought "Come on, I can teach myself IMP on the guitar with no training whatsoever, I must have musical talent".I opened it up to the middle page, I couldn't understand it at all. Theory is a lot harder than playing Coldplay on guitar :laugh3:

 That is very touching...it really does show the true meaning of the song. There are lots of songs I don't understand, but for some reason I like them better when I leave then un-understood. It feels as though, they need to be left alone...

But the way I often interpret songs, is that the first time I here them (or maybe the billionth, it doesn't matter)...what is the first thing that pops into my head. Today when I heard 'Unintended' the first thing that popped into my head was a girl being dragged away from her true love and him not doing anything...like someone looking back on what could have been...

theory is nuts. music is waaaaaay beyond me. i think thats why i like it so much: because i'm in awe of anyone that can master it in a way that grabs me so much. though film is the next best thing to that for me, and that feels like something i can handle.

that's so sad about that trouble song meaning...

song meanings are crazy things though: they mean so many different things to different people. i have all these ideas about what i think songs are about that no one else seems to understand or agree with or like. but i think that's another reason why i like music so much: unlike literature or film, it's usually so abstract that you can apply your own meaning and feelings to it and still be right.

and i can never look at wilson the same way again, either!

I look at people who are good at sport or math in the same way...how can they master something I find so difficult? And I look at my brother, who's guitar and music skills far surpass mine in awe everytime he strikes a note. But then I tend to scare myself, like the other day, I was playing something randomly on my guitar...and I was like...thats so familier...so so..I couldn't pick it. As it turned out I was playing No Suprises by Radiohead...I had absolutely no tuition in guitar so it kinda freaked me out

watching house right now...and i laughed a little when i saw wilson because i know he could very well be married to gwyneth and not chris, and things might be different than they are.

today one of my friends used the phrase "that's BALLS" and then we laughed about how unusual an exclamation it is around these parts. but something stirred in my head and i said "where have i heard someone use that phrase recently??" it was beginning to bother me because i couldnt think of where i'd heard someone say it. and then i was like "ohhh, i remember!" but was kind of embarrassed about it, and my friends made me tell them where i heard it. in a quiet voice i said "chris martin said it about a song called 'gravity'..." and they laughed at my lameness

:laugh3: I get that a lot. One day (I think I already posted this) one of my friends EJ was talking about the fact that her internet was down so she couldn't upload things to her i-pod. She said something like "All I have is crappy albums like X&Y" and then this other girl who was with us who knows I like Coldplay said "You're in for it now EJ, she really likes that band". I just said "Oh don't worry, I get it a lot" and then the other girl said "They still are pretty crap"

You learn to dismiss it....even though it does hurt a little...

I'm listening to In My Place now, and it's giving me the most exhilarating, happiest feeling in the world.

It feels good.

isn't that song like, the best in the world? somehow it sounds new every time you listen to it, i think. it's weird to describe how i love it, because if i made a list of my top 5 coldplay songs it probably wouldnt be in there, but yet its just so amazing that it probably would fall into a top 10 songs of all time sort of list for me.

i know we've been over this, but before i even knew coldplay that riff used to go round in my head when i was really happy :D

and now it just makes me feel like jumping around every time i hear it.

My ex of only 3 months used to sing FIX you and swallowed in the sea to me and yesterday I was riding on the bus and I could hear his voice just saying the words you belong to me not swallowed in the sea. It brought tears in my eyes, some people near to me were just looking at me like poor thing

last night i had a dream that i went on the coldplay myspace on a whim and there was a note from will up saying something like "the rumor that arose on 1/11 saying that we might go on strike against EMI is utter nonsense. the album will be released on time in 2008 on the EMI label."

it went on, but of course i can't remember.

wishful thinking i suppose....
