US team makes 'changes' for Italy

Featured Replies

After reviewing video of the clunker several times, coach Bruce Arena alternated criticism of players with humor Tuesday as the Americans tried to shake off the defeat and start preparations for the Azzurri, three-time World Cup champions.

good luck boys!

The only change the US needs to make is to go from sucking to not sucking

that'll never happen. we suck too badly.

that'll never happen. we suck too badly.

Haha I don't think we're that bad.

I think we have a good team, I just think there are way better teams. Give it some time and enjoy it for a bit. In a couple years, we'll be kicking everyone else's butt. (hopefully)

To get a result from the match the U.S. have to make a dramatic u-turn from their performance against the Czechs, but i don't see that happening.

Yes - this time they're planning to use some real football players!!

^ oh you guys aren't being fair!! lol

the problem is, even though they all play abroad.. (most of them do anyways) that when they get back... because they don't all play the same way.. their lack of teamwork.... and its not in their blood.... I hope they surprise everyone... but, my money is still on Italy.

Italy will win cos Us are too confident of theirselves.............

Italy will defeat USA team so Bruce Arena will learn to shut up!

I think it might all have made a difference if Italy hadn't been the next opponents. Unfortunately for those in the US who don't follow European football regularly, Italy are "good". Prediction: US 0 Italy 3

I'm not saying anything about this match :lipsrsealed2:

but what's up with Bruce Arena?

all i've got to say is that arena's gotta change the line up, and he's gotta do it quick. i KNOW that we can play well, and we have to do our best against italy. claudio reyna and landon donovan can play football, dammit!

i'm so scared about this match :uhoh2:

 so true! But I'll say it'll be a 3-1 Italy win. :smug: :P just to be different.

I think the suggestion is that he's a bit of a "loudmouth"!!:P

Bruce Arena said that Italy had had several scandalous situations during his hystory, even the situation happened with Juventus...and Reyna said that USa will play with Italy as it will be a war...but i think that Italy will not scared and will defeat USA!

hahaha :laugh3:

Just like any American soccer fan....:dozey:

Amen to that

Arena is a little loud yea but he has also brought the program out of the basement and at least to mediocrity, if not then above average. Still a long way to go for american soccer (yes, soccer. football for everyone else, the name was already taken when it came time to play over here). Italy is an impressive team obviously and will be heavy favorites, but i do find it to be a bit ridiculous that people seem to gang up on americans when it comes to the world cup. Look, this isn't our sport...obviously. Kids here dream of being the next Michael Jordan (basketball), Jerry Rice (football), or Roger Clemens (baseball), and likely not a Ronaldinho or Henry or Rooney. It just too congested in the sports scene for that to instantly happen. I'd say its an accomplishment for us to even qualify for how far down on the chain the sport is over here, let alone advance like last WC.

that's not to say I wouldn't like to see the Azzurri get thumped :smug:

this is exactly what is so sad about it!! I soooo wish we were as into 'soccer' as say Englad is, or Ireland for that matter... even Mexico! This is why I think most of us rag on the US team so much... I hope they prove everyone wrong.. but, its unlikely.. its like Ian said some post back... if you're as into "footy" as everyone in Europe is.. then you know Italy is grood.

US need to prepair for other humiliation... :smug: I agree with Ian, its going to be at least like 3 - 0.

You're all too sure about the result...I'm a little bit worried though :uhoh2: it would be a veeeery big error to underestimate the US

I hope the US do do something unreal tonight, the group is shaping up to be the best in the first fortnight
