Alcahol Tastes Crap Unless You Drink A Lot of It

Featured Replies

Why is this?

And no, Im not drunk hahaha.

If I just have a sip of beer, its disgusting, and continues to be as I sip little bits more. I have to have a full 4 gulps before its like "WOAH! WIPE MY MOUTH THATS GOOD SHEET!"

Why is this?

Maybe because it takes a few sips for your tongue to get used to it??

I do not drink and I do not want to drink,so I can say that beer smell bad and many people that drink said that at the beginning the beer taste bad.

Maybe you have to accostumate to the "awful taste"

hmmm...dunno. i had a glass of wine the other night and it took awhile before i started liking it. never had more than a few sips of beer though, can't stand the stuff. but maybe if a drank a hell of a lot of it, i wouldn't be able to tell...;)

I dont just mean that once you get so drunk that you could taste battery acid and it would be delicious, but I'm sober right now, and was sipping at my Stella, hating it, not being able to imagine drinking the whole can, and then I just thought "Fuck it!" and drank half of it, and suddenly it tasted nice.

Weird.

^(psychosaiqa) same here. I drink a glass of wine, but i only warm up to the taste after that one glass

Well obviously it depends what you drink.

Beer is just horrible to me. Period. Wine tastes crap if you buy a cheap bottle. Good wine is lovely though (although I can't really drink it cos it makes me feel like I've been hit by a bus the next day)

However spirit with a mixer is nice...I could drink it all day. Mmm.

So my point is not all alcohol tastes like shit, but alot does.

Never drink in moderation kids...spoils the fun

I think it depends partly on what kind of beer you drink...If I'm stuck with Molson's or Blue...Canadian beers...I hate them. If I have a Smithwick's, I love it from the first sip! Beer is like coffee...it has to be brewed properly. And there are so many varieties out there that it could take a while to find a beer that suits your palate...some ppl never warm to beer...me, I LOVE IT...TOO MUCH!!!LOL!

it depends on what you like, you might drink some alcohol and think its terrible but try something else and love it, it all comes down to preference

I think alcohol in general is hideous. I still drink though, in copious amounts, I guess it's the after-effects I like most.

Hmm I think I just wasnt in a drinking mood last night.

well everybody gets into those moods some time or another

I think it might be that the alcohol numbs your tastebuds after a couple of sips. Or it could be like when you walk into a room where someone's been eating fish, and the stench is overpowering, but within a couple of minutes you can't even smell it anymore.

It's a big part of the reason I don't drink, though. Even the stuff people say is supposed to taste good just doesn't, at least to me. I wouldn't drink to get drunk ever, so drinking something that tastes nasty just because doesn't make sense to me.

My brother got me to try Baileys recently- he said it would taste good. It did, but I was like "yeah, but it would taste so much better if it didn't taste like alcohol!"

It really might be psychosomatic.

Your mind is in tune to the great effects of alcohol...so it tells you ..

"drink this beautiful and golden liguid..it is like SUNSHINE...drink it"

SO you do. And the first taste is like your first reaction. But you mind kicks in and is all " drink it..remember the effects...drink to success"

SO then it turns good :)

Because depending on what kind of alcohol it is..and your taste, most alcohol really is gross. Beer is good, but I like the taste of Foster's .it tasted good to me.

But if it's like wines...you develop your taste to it and can then distinguish what is a good year/taste. Same with Brady or Congnac

No idea what "Alcahol" tastes off because i never tried it.

Although alcohol is good in small doses

Mmmmm...Bailley's! But you're right. Bailley's tastes great, but it would even if it weren't alcoholic. I love the stuff, but I've never gotten drunk on it. the amount it would take to get most ppl drunk would just make you puke. It's a waste to get drunk on it!

Well it's probably your defense mechanism. It's sorta warning you, "it doesn't taste nice, it would be smart to stop", see, and if you don't stop, you get wasted.

Which isn't as cool as it seems, because alcohol also affects your brain.

That is, it damages your brain in a long run, besides that people in intoxicated state can be very unpleasant. Many families got disfuncional due to excess drinking.

So true. I grew up with a single mom due to my dad's drinking...and I've grown up to have some of his tendancy toward excess drinking. I keep tight control on it because I know the pain it can cause, and I odn't want to do that to my family. If I ever have a kid, I'll probably quit alltogether.
