For me it is the smell of coffee in a car! Just sickening!

When I don't press the clutch down enough on my car when changing gear...

...that grinds my gears :)

  • 1 year later...

When on dvds you have those unskipable copyright warnings. The worst I have seen is when you have to actually press a button after about 40 seconds.

wet socks! They are so annoying!

When I see little twelve year olds in Starbucks...

when I see the teenagers with those awful haircuts

^^Ewww emo myspace pictures grinds my gears too!

That's counter-culture for ya... and I don't think the first hairdo(n't) is too bad, but the second is just ridiculous.

As for my gears? The are ground by people who assert their opinions or prejudices as if they are automatically right, especially on subjects like gay marraige ("It's wrong 'cause gay people are gross!") or terrorism ("I bet there's a bomb in that turban!"). It's to the point where I almost never assert my own opinion on anything.

Good call. Happens all the time in the winter.

The worst is when you put on a clean pair of socks, then go to leave the house, step in a little puddle from melted snow or whatever, and then have to go get another pair.

Don't you have those little things called shoes in Canada? :P

Another thing which grinds my gears is what Amazon has turned into, if you select the express delivery or first class it's okay as they normally are good for you, but if you select the free delivery your order won't be touched for a couple days, then in my experience you get one of 3 delivery options, the best is royal mail 2nd class, the middle is TNT using the royal mail's delivery network, I got the email saying the package was shipped on Wednesday but it didn't drop though my door until Tuesday, but the worst by far is the "Home-Delivery Network" or whatever they call themselves these days, I got an email saying the package left the warehouse one Monday, but it didn't arrive until the following Monday, left outside the front door in view of everybody. They are punishing you for selecting free delivery.

Teenagers in general grind my gears. :P Ironic, eh? I'm a teenager myself.

That person yesterday who spoke only in Portuguese.

probably other things too, but they're probably unimportant.

Along those lines can i nominate the Daily Mail newspaper as the thing that annoys me the most, so full of needless, self-righteous prejudice and yet still manages to be one of Britain's most popular newspapers. What really tipped me over the edge was this wonderful story from the summer http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/news/news.html?in_article_id=473578&in_page_id=1770 which starts;

'There are few sights so serene as a swan sailing majestically along the Grand Union Canal.

Except, that is, when it is being chased by a gang of hungry, knife-wielding Eastern Europeans.'

Ugh...

oh my god, i was going to say the same thing. i strongly dislike people my own age. theyre so...juvenile! what really grinds my gears is when they think theyre the center of everything yet theyre just so terribly misunderstood (see: emo). i think it has a lot to do with me feeling a hell of a lot older than 18, but really, even my friends get on my nerves with their dumb teeangeryness!

Thank you for supporting my answer! :D

Ugh and teenage drama is ridiculous. My friends always bring their catty, bitchy problems to be to whine and complain. And all I can think is 'why come to me? I don't care about this!'

Teenagers love to just be obnoxious and loud and try to be sexual and all....it's just embarassing. Because I always get thrown into the same group of people who take weird myspace pictures and wear provocative clothing and like crappy music. >.<

I'm glad someone understands me!:D

Those things on top of new cd's that are really hard to pick off also grind my gears.

Heat in cars and any smell in cars. That's it, my number 1 pet hate in life.

Thank you for supporting my answer! :D

yes! i totally hate being thrown into the same group of people! but usually after like 2 minutes of talking to someone they usually figure out that i'm trying to disassociate myself from that group as much as possible.

what also really grinds my gears is having to pretend to act like a teenager on occasion. with my friends i dont have to, but if i'm ever in a situation where there are a lot of people my age that i dont know, i feel like i'm supposed to be acting "normal" for my age so i dont get pinned as the "weird one that thinks shes so much better than us". i'm starting college next month, and the thing i'm dreading most is that first awkward period where i've got to meet all these people my age and pretend to be normal!

Awww don't worry! As cheesy as this will probably sound, if you be yourself they'll definitely like you! :nice:

Don't act "normal", otherwise you will lose your sense of identity.

Assholes who like confusing nice, friendly people who never did anything to deserve it...that's what grinds my gears. >=(

So I suppose that would be teenagers as well? rofl.
