September 23, 200619 yr Sleeping Sun was the only good thing to come out of it, perhaps Fix You as simple a ballad as it is. I pray that the next album is far superior and hits it out of the park - without anymore Speed of Clocks and other shit songs like Talk and Hardest Part. They need a winner, not a carry over album from past successes like X&Y was.
September 23, 200619 yr Well....Coldplay just disappointed me with that album.......the songs just sound as if they were written for big stadiums.... eg....fix you has got some weak lyrics...I think even i could have written them....because they remind me of some of my poems...:laugh4: X&Y is the album I skip most songs... best song on this album is imo twisted logic.....the only song I can see something special in.... well I just expected more from a band like Coldplay.....hope they will fulfill my expectations with their next album... I forgot to mention one important thing that annoys me about the album....somehow the REAL emotions are missing there.....yeah fix you is suppose to be emotional but somehow I got the feeling asif it is not...
September 24, 200619 yr I think what it comes down to is the purists out there who want more of Parachutes dislike the more commercial feel of X&Y. Personally I love X&Y alot more than Parachutes (which I still love). In the end though, AROBTTH is the best.
September 24, 200619 yr The thing is, everyone has thier own opinion, and my opinion has to be that I like X&Y best. The music is what drew me to Coldplay, I get more emotion from it than any previous album. I think that all the songs share a sort of 'paranoid' theme, and I'm into that kind of thing right now, [probably why I'm so obsessed with Our Lady Peace right now, lol] and a 'futuristic' theme as well. Maybe the album has that futuristic feel to me because of the Talk video [my first exposure to Coldplay, and my favorite song by them (followed by Amsterdam)] I also consider X&Y 2 albums, [square One - X&Y ; Speed of Sound - Til Kingdom Come] and listen to each seperately. Speed of Sound - Til Kingdom Come happens to be my favorite right now.
September 24, 200619 yr nothing's wrong with x&y. it's just not parachutes and it's not arobtth. maybe people were expecting something along those lines.
September 24, 200619 yr If Coldplay made the same type of album over and over again it would get boring.
September 24, 200619 yr If Coldplay made the same type of album over and over again it would get boring. That's half the problem! They haven't advanced musically at all, or at least, very little.

September 24, 200619 yr That's half the problem! They haven't advanced musically at all, or at least, very little. I completely disagree.
September 24, 200619 yr ^ i do too. listen to parachutes then to robtth then x n y. you'll notice that the sound has evolved in a way. i'm sure the band will realise that some of their songs were not up to scratch. but if bands don't alter their style, they go nowhere in my opinion. i mean look at pink floyd. listen to piper at the gates of dawn then dark side, wish you were here and then the wall and their sound is completely different on each album. i applaud coldplay for mixing it up with x&y. it may not be my favourite album, but it definetly sets them up for a good 4th album....
September 24, 200619 yr the thing i would like the most is to get to let the rest of the guys, esp. guy more power in creating melody's and all (rememeber square one)
September 24, 200619 yr X&Y. the first time i listened to it i didnt think it was too bad. i mean, i like the songs. the first time came out it was my favourite album. square one, x&y, a message. but then when i listen to arobtth and parachutes, and compare those album to x&y..... i rarely listen to that album now, just a few songs like a message and low. if someone didnt like x&y or love it, it's just their different music taste i guess.
September 24, 200619 yr If you compare the three albums, one and two look like each other but x&y is pretty different :) But well i wont say i don't like it:) I do, but i prefer also the first and second album. That kind a music i like the most in coldplay :)
September 24, 200619 yr I Love X&Y. I just have some very good associations with it. It accompanied me through a great adventure and listening to the entire album makes me happy and comforted all at once. It's got some beautiful songs.
September 24, 200619 yr I love X&Y. This album makes me love Coldplay cos it's the first I bought. And it's the first album which makes me shiver for the very first time... It's my first music love... lol
September 24, 200619 yr my first listen was Parachutes and it's my fav album but X&Y is great too imo:) i'm obssesed with Low and message.i'm not dissapointed at all,a bit different but still great!!best album in 2005 for me:D
September 25, 200619 yr Do you think people would be equally dissatisfied with Parachutes if it were the third album and X&Y were the first? I would guess so for the obvious reason that Coldplay's first fans would be different and accustomed to a certain sound that Parachutes largely does not have. Other than that, I think that many music fans associate a hipster coolness with liking a really big band (only) in the beginning when "nobody else liked them but me." On the other end, I think that many music fans convince themselves that they love everything that their favorite artists create. Either way, it's music, people. Like what you like, dislike what you dislike, then let's sit together and figure out how to end world poverty or something. Holla.
September 25, 200619 yr Too true...too true. You know what's funny, I didn't even realise how huge Coldplay were. I've loved them since about 2003 and they were big-ish back then but nothing major and I still think of them like that. Then the tour came out and the album was in the top 50 for like a year and everyone knows Coldplay and it freaks me out :laugh3:
September 25, 200619 yr :D I dunno I downloaded some coldplay songs :) Like the scientist etc and I fell a bit in love.. and when speed of sound was on television i was inmediatelly toooo in love :D
