What did you want to grow up to be?

Featured Replies

^:o sounds so cool, Chelsea.

when i was 6 i wanted to be a journalist or get to be something related with communication, may be work at the cinema or television... then the idea changed a bit, and since i was 10 i want to be a WRITER. :) (for me to be a writer is not to be just a novelist, poetess, or essayist, is also to be a songwriter, or a scriptwriter too). But i know i must learn many things yet. :)

I wanted to be a footballer. Then I realised I'd never be a footballer. I haven't played in ages now. I used to love football, I played all the time. One of the best things that ever happened to me was when I overheard this girl I fancied the pants off say to her mate, "wow he's good!" when she was watching all us butch 10 year olds playing football at lunchtime at school. Good times, good stuff.

I'm still a child.

I've wanted to be a soccer player (no pro women's league anymore)...wanted to be a psychologist...but deep down, I've always wanted to be a musician. Recently I've thought about writing. I have to do something in literature or music, or else I won't be able to live.

^Haha, oh man. That reminds me of a time about 5 years ago when I had a maths lesson and I was lucky enough to sit next to a girl I had had a crush on for a good 2 years. Needless to say I got no work done whatsoever and instead went about doing stuff that I would now lead me to believe that I was clinically insane. Like, falling off my chair backwards and stuff just to hear her laugh. Then when the lesson was over I went out of the classroom and while she was still in there, I heard her say to one of her friends, "do you think Semy's funny? I quite like him" and I think I had a minor heart attack on the spot. It sounds so stupid recalling it though, but I felt so pleased with myself for a good 2 weeks afterwards :laugh1: I was so shy at the time as well.

And I've just spoiled this thread with a confession. Typical.

I wanted to be an Astronaut but then I gave up on that idea.

At one point in my life, I thought I could make it playing sports but I also gave up on that. :P

Oh well, I like my job right now. :nice:

^ah, that reminds me of the week in my life where i wanted to be cast in the school play because the guy i really, really liked had the lead. then i laughed at myself because it was a ridiculous idea to even entertain, so i joined the tech crew (well, for other reasons too...but the guy was one of them ) and then i fell in LOVE with production and did it for years to come...oh god, did my crush perhaps have a role in my interest in film production?! :stunned:

aaaanyway. we all do stuff like that. i'm mortified, for one, by the fact that i saved all his voicemails. *shame*

Well, did the guy ever figure out you had a crush on him?

When I was little I wanted to be a doctor, a singer, a dancer, an artist, and a writer all at the same time. Not just one of them, all of them!

Haha, thats so funny! It's just typical at that age, though. But its hilarious that your crush might have indirectly sparked your interest in production and film :laugh1: Perhaps you'll need to find him and thank him when your directing those blockbusters :P

sadly, yes. because my best friend has a big mouth and i TOTALLY bitched him out. and then i beat up my best friend behind the library. the end.

helped me get over it fast, anyway. but i wonder if i've ever been that mortified before...

Well going solely by that CP fiction story you wrote, about which you said it was no where near your best work, I would say you have a pretty damn good chance, Chelsea. I mean it. I thought your writing style and dialogue were absolutely fantastic.

aww, semy, you're WAY too nice to me

and i still can't believe you think that's quality! it's a moronic fanfic! funny, perhaps; quality...HAHA :P

Haha, I really mean it though :nice:

It is quality! And like you said, that's not your best effort, so for what it is, it is really really good. I can only imagine what your other stuff is like!

my other stuff is painfully long and painfully in need of revision. but who has the time anymore? i'm procrastinating another paper tonight as it is. oh goodness.

I want to be a rockstar :bigcry:

In the guidance office at my school, there is a file that reads "Emily Smoot: Fine Arts and Humanites/Performing Arts/Musician" or something along those lines.

I'm not sure about that.

I want to be a rockstar :bigcry:

Me too! :bigcry:

I used to want to be a painter. But I sucked

Then I wanted to be an author. But I sucked

Now I want to be a guitarist. And I'm awesome:dozey:

^TEACH ME

Watch 5 years of Jonny Buckland, John Mayer, and Richard On and you'll be shredding in no time:D

You know, to be honest, the guitar doesn't interest me as much. I've always wanted to be great at kazoo.

Let's start a kazoo/guitar band!

Patrick Roy (NHL best goalie)

or

Chad Taylor (guitarist of LIVE..lived down the street from me)

I wanted to be a marine biologist for some reason :p. Now I want to work in either crime or cinematography/photography.
