:P

i'm quite sure there are people who listen to a bigger amount music than me. for me it's about 3-4 hours per day, i think. maybe even more sometimes. way to school, at home, in a music shop, basically everywhere where i can lol.

i "pick up" everything what i can from music forums (mainly AtEase) and listen to it when i have time. that's all :P

apart from meeting friends, listening music is kinda the only hobby i do in my freetime. okay sometimes i read books and watch films lol

btw there's still much music/many artists i that i've never heard before

well, I think that's all I can do for now... this was not easy, definitely not... there are a couple of albums from 2007 that I could add to the list for sure... but it wouldn't be fair... because when some of them came out this thread was already open...

:P

I do listen to a lot music about the same as you in a day prolly but I listen to the old ones a lot because when I'm in my room I only listen to cds and radio( where from iIhear new stuff though and write the names down of those I liked. But in my room I can't liek really listen listen unless I buy the album or loan it). New music I listen mostly when i'm on the computer and the pooter's not in my room and it's not my own computer.

I have this list thing actually. I hear about a band that's said to be great or hear a song that I like and I put the band's/artist's name in the list. Too bad I never have enough time to listen to them or I dont' find their music anywhere and now I have this huge list of artists to listen to :P haha and it's getting bigger every day and I still have some really old names in that list. I mean I have all the old classics on that list too and I still havent listened to all of them. lol

well all i can say.. it's how I feel atm.

and of course I haven't listened to a lot of great albums from the past at all or only once or twice yet so I know there are masterpieces lacking from my list. (Janis Joplin's albums for example. I love her but I only have her essential-cd) Plus I haven't listened to all of the albums from every artist on my list but I have deeply fallen in love with those I have and been very impressed by them and those I will put on my list. There's never enough time. *sigh* hehe ( I have no idea if anything I say makes sense at all. Probably not )

Well.. I'm still young so I still have time though.. I hope.. hehe what a speech.. (like anyone gives a crap)

That*s exactly the way I feel......I'm really interested in music and when I go to a music store I would love to buy maybe 10 cds.....the problem that I jsut don't have the money...currently I have the time to lsiten to new stuff but I don't have the money....when you say you only own the essential cd by Janis Joplin it's the same with me for example in case of Jefferson Airplane....I'd love to own all of their albums, but I don't have the money to buy them......YES I STILL BUY CDS (mostly...).....I rather like to hold the original cd in my hands...and not a burned one...and I still want to support the music industry hehe....usually I only download stuff when I'm too desperate...lol...

when I see some of you guys on here (eg Nik) I think "Wow...those people know so many songs....so many artists...and I just don't" (but I read what Nik said.....and I guess it's not even true...haha)...and on the other hand I have to know a lot of stuff for my future (my plans...)...

so maybe I should download more.......noooooooooo I won't:mean:

and now I'm sorry because I didn't post a list..this was so off-topic.:embarassed:

hahaha and I don't even know if that fits to what you were talking about before.....but I've been searching for a way to get rid of this....lol

^ You two just summed it all up perfectly. There's so much I haven't heard yet that I would probably like, and there's so much that I like but can't afford to buy. And it's different having a song on a real cd and listening to it up in my room or on my dad's big, rich sounding 70s speakers.

I do listen to alot of music on the bus and stuff... but four hours daily is never going to happen. I need my silence too- it's when I do my best thinking. And it takes me a long time to absorb new music- weeks of listening and letting it go and then coming back to it before I feel like I know it. I did give into downloading finally, but I always delete it after I've listened a couple of times, so I wouldn't put even stuff I really liked on the list in that case, because I haven't had enough time to REALLY listen.

It's a big world out there... kind of comforting really- there's still so much to explore.

god..

i still don't know if i should do a list..

my concience forbidds me to do so..

Aw come on... don't think of it as an ultimate list, think of it as a snapshot of where you are right now. I'll be something cool to look at it in 10 years when you've heared more and see how much your taste has changed.

too true. and it doesn't even have to be years as well. i can't tell you how many times i've edited my list. constantly revisiting and thinking "whaaaaaaat was i thinking" then changing everything and doing it all again after my next visit lol

  • Author

of course it's not easy compiling such lists especially if you discover new music every day. but once you're done with yours and the results are announced then you have a feeling that you've been a part of something big. you've made a difference. and it's good.

making lists is fun, i don't take my list too seriously, because i know in some months it will look completely different. on my list, the first 50-55 are ranked correctly probably (i'm lying, probably not lol). but the rest i love absolutely equally. so there's really no big difference between no.100 on my list and no. 69 for example. it's just how i felt in the moment, when i was compiling my list.

it's all about fun. there's no good, nor bad list. the point is to show the general music interest(s) of today's members

I've corrected everything I wanted (for now lol) and I'm ready :smug:

To see results, I mean. Man, that must be a really hard thing to do - count all those votes

That took me a long time, I kind of got bored while doing it so I ended up just randomly placed albums in order. I tried to put a minimum amount of albums per artist (apart from certain bands). I'm still sure I've forgotten someone big. Oh and Linkin Park is there for sentimental purposes.

Enough with the rambling :P

btw Nik, how long will it take for the results to come out? :)

depends. the deadline is tomorrow around 11 PM GMT. it means, i'll start counting the votes on Monday. i think, later the same evening the results will be ready. the countdown itself might take 2-3 days (if it will be worth making a countdown for albums outside the top 100, then even more maybe...)

oh and a nice list. i've replaced the old one with the new one then ;)
