It's based on a manga :)

Which I've heard is excellent as well.

I have never actually read a manga before. Maybe I'm missing out on something there.

Manga's are strange to read if your new as you have to read them right to left, but once you get used to it, they are rather good.

Technically is not Anime, as is drawing on a paper.... so Manga.

:kid: My student has lend me a Naruto book.

Is interesting, most than the story itself, the fact of how to read it.

I find this so complex to understands, names, concepts... but the storyline is not that difficult to understand.

Yep, just coming here to say that.... there's a manga thread but is about other stuff.

love/d the manga for Fruits Basket, Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles, XXX Holic

Scrapped princess, Howl's moving castle both good anime's

used to watch Trigun and Orphen but haven't seen them in ages!!

found a funny comic the other day for Dr who not sure that counts as manga tho...what is the difference between manga and regular comics?

Full Metal Alchemist is pretty good :tongue2:

Have you seen Howl's Moving Castle? It's so georgeous

Ghost in the Shell 1+2 are two of the best movies ever, just amazing. I could go on about how good they are, but just watch them

The series isn't quite as good, but the Laughing Man episodes make it worth a watch, it's a continuous storyline that runs throughout the show but for some reason the laughing man episodes are split up by random episodes of which the story only takes one episode to tie up, it's quite an interesting format, but I would have preferred to just watch the Laughing man ones. The series also raises a lot of moral questions like the film when the machines they use start developing personalities.

In fact I was put off watching Ghost in the Shell for a while because of the cover art, which is a scantily clad woman (like seriously what's the need?) luckily it's anything but a typical anime and is in fact a very deep and meaningful movie.

I bought Spirited Away and Princess Mononoke the other day and I haven't got round to watching them yet.

I loved Dragonball until it got really shjit (around about Majin Buu) I read the manga for that as well to kill boredom at work.

But then stuff like Naruto is possibly the worst thing to ever be created, I really hate stuff like that, it's such a mixed barrel.

Oh and anyone who watches dubbed versions is not a person I like

Nathan, you can buy a dvd of just the laughing man arc.

I own it ;) (the bad thing about it though is that it cuts out seemingly vital parts of the storyline (or parts that I feel are vital anyway))

I watched Spirited Away last night, I loved it, might watch Mononoke soon

*cough*GEEK*cough*

K I take back anything negative I said about Stand Alone Complex, I bought both series on DVD and it's absolutely fantastic, it's such a close call between them and the first 2 movies.

What an excellent series Ghost in the Shell is.

Watching Spirited Away. Great movie, Hayao Miyazaki is awesome.

I've just saw "Serial Experiments Lain". It was incredible. Also Neon Genesis Evangelion was mind blowing, it was such a complete thing.

I really like progresive anime:wacko:

Now watching Ergo Proxy.

I love mangas and animes.

In my top (not counting the Miyazaki/Takahata movies here)

Wolf's rain: beautiful parabol on human's nature and what humans are seeking for in life...Just beautiful and make me cry at the end. The OST is gorgeous and from the great Yoko Kano

Gankustsuou: It's a remake of The Count of Monte Cristo. Not really able to see it in the trailer but it's visually STUNNING!! look at that pic http://wp.madcowdisease.org/Anime%2BManga/Gankutsuou/Gankutsuou_22.jpg

And of course, Samurai Champloo!! From the director of Cowboy Beebop, the animation is amazing and it can be as hilarious as it can be sad...

Watching Spirited Away. Great movie, Hayao Miyazaki is awesome.

My first avi was the NoFace dude :P

Neon Genesis Evangelion is the best thing ever.

THISS

I watched up to episodes 20-24 last night and I still don't fully understand the whole Lilith/Adam thing, it's such an amazing series, gunna watch the last 2 and EoE tonight :D

Bear in mine this is the 2nd time I've watched it all the way through.

have you seen any of the Rebuild? I don't like it that much cos it cuts out a lot of the bits I loved but it's so beautiful, it's changing the story too, I love it as like a "re-imagining" but I don't think it's a substitute for the series at all.

I used to watch it on Animax... pure anime channel... But that channel is not available anymore... so i have to watch it on youtube... :\

Some series change the concept when they get popular... But i think this is going pretty well... I like it...

Youtube for the loss, I bought all the platinum DVDs <3

Oh yeah don't get me wrong, I like the Rebuild, it's just not a replacement for the original series.

It seems like they are going to go way deeper into the mythology of the show though with Kaworu already appearing in it and them basically showing us where the Angels come from.

One thing I HATED about 1.1 of the Rebuild was

Misato knowing about Lilith and showing Shinji Lilith at an early stage, really didn't like that

Me neither :P

I love this kinda series... Good anime has been dissapearing from the screens lately...

Im watching Haruhi Suzumiya season 2 right now, is going well... a little annoying for those people who has to watch it on youtube

I was going to ask you if you'd watched that actually, cos I was thinking I might rewatch the first series then watch season 2, that is if it's actually good.

Yeah I don't really watch loads of anime, I just pick and choose the best ones, so I'm not to concerned about any supposed lack in quality cos there is enough to keep me going in the back catalogue

I like it... is weird... not as good as Evangelion (of course not)... but its entertaining... and helping me with my japanesse...

Well yeah obviously it's not as good as EVA but I enjoyed the first season and thought it ended on a great note and just wish they'd left it at that, so it doesn't ruin it?

How are you learning Japanese? Just yourself? I was going to try and do it but it was pretty impossible to just teach myself it with a book

I dont use books... I watch a lot of anime :P... Im doing what i did with english...

I learned english watching warner channel (two and a half men, friends, adn stuff) ... school sucks... 5 years of high school and the last class was "Verb to-be"
