Shakira holds on to top spot

 

LONDON (Reuters) - Colombian singer Shakira held on to the number one spot in the British pop charts late on Sunday with her single "Hips Don't Lie".

 

Her collaboration with Haitian-American rapper Wyclef Jean saw off competition from Barbadian singer Rihanna, whose hit "Unfaithful" rose one place to second on the chart.

 

Falling one place to number three was American singer Christina Aguilera with "Ain't No Other Man", according to the Official UK Charts Company, the chart compiler.

 

German dance group Cascada shot up 37 places to number four with "Everytime We Touch".

 

 

 

American socialite Paris Hilton's debut single "Stars are Blind" climbed 30 places to number five, while British newcomer James Morrison's "You Give Me Something" slipped one spot to number six.

 

London singer Lily Allen's "Smile" dropped to seventh and Australian ban Rogue Traders were steady at eighth with "Voodoo Child".

 

Scottish singer Paolo Nutini's ballad "Last Request" was at number nine and Kasabian slipped one place to tenth with "Empire".

 

In the album charts, Morrison shot to the top of the album charts with his debut, "Undiscovered". The singer-songwriter, who has been compared to the Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, was signed by record company Polydor after failing to get past a first audition on the BBC talent show "Fame Academy".

manhow i dislike Shakira! I dislike her even more now cause the song is catchy and you'll prob catch me dancing to it.

I will freely and gladly dance to that song. It is catchy as hell.

yes, i know that. i didn't mean to be mean either. it's just what popped up in my head, i don't think that about her.

I like her moves.....

she does have spunky moves.

 

i preferred her during the spanish singing years, i loved 'inevitable' such a beautiful song , 'ojos asi' and 'tu'. Her songs were great then and i so wanted to look like her THEN (def not now!) lol.

but oh how people change.....

yeahh me too.. I'm not a big fan of her but her spanish albums of lots of years ago were pretty good... and also I went to see her live here in Santiago last year

she's pretty good live.. her voice is beautiful and she sang lots of songs in spanish of course so I really liked it... and yeahh the show was quite like the videoclips :wacky:

her first spanish albums are great , i mean antologia is one of my favs songs from all time ,

its kind of sad that as soon as she started singing in english she became .... well comercial ,

but if you have the chance you guys should listen to her first two albums in spanish they're really great
