Featured Replies

I didn't create this thread to bring about haters........I created the thread to see if anyone else was noticing what I was noticing.........Chris looks more paranoid everytime I see a photo shot.....lol I have no problem with the music......I just want the band to be ok......if one member is gettin alil out there that can do a lot to the band itself.........thas all I want is for the band to be okay.......usually when I have these feelings their right........so I hope someone close 2 the band sees this and lets em knw that the fans r worried and they just want things to be ok especially myself.....they have done a lot for me mentally

me as well... hopefully everything is fine and they come out with an amazing fourth album! :)

What I care about is the way he treats fans. I've never met him but I have spoken to fans who have. More recently he seems to treat fans as nothing more than an annoyance....looking for a picture.....or an autograph.....

All I would want would be for him to take the time to realise what he and the band mean and have meant to me and to appreciate ME as a fan. Not someone he can't even look at when he speaks to me like I saw in the videos when he mets some of the fans in S.A.

i have to disagree with that, as i was one of those fans

if he had stopped to talk and pay attention to every fan he would have never left, there were too many and he couldn´t please them all. Besides, he was very kind, was always with a smile, went out of the hotel several times. And it wasnt just him, the bodyguards were "nice" too (well, as much as a bodyguard can be), and the atmosphere was good, and that also depends on the band.

I´ve read sometimes that he was rude to other fans, but maybe it depends on the situation too, if there is the press there taking photos, you cant expect him to be comfortable, and maybe some other times he´s just having a bad day, the thing is that for a fan that moment is so memorable, and for him it´s just another moment in his life, you know what i mean........what´s sad is that maybe when he started, meeting a fan who was eager to get his autograph was memorable for him too, but now it´s become normal.

He's getting older like the rest of us...trying out different looks and musical styles. The only difference is that he's in the public eye so we notice every little change. He does look older lately' date=' probably from all the touring. That can really take its toll on a person.[/quote']

true...

something else i think is that some years ago jernoulists said he was the best man in the world, and now he´s turned into the devil himself...they always do that with people, that´s what sells, but it also creates a circle, he´ll be more angry with the press, and so he´ll have a worse attitude towards them, and then that will be reflected on the media, and so it goes on and on. I think he pays too much attention to that...

EDIT: wow!! i didnt realise this was going to be so long!! sorry!

I really liked watching the videos of south america gigs ,and the videos where they give autographs to the funs, they looked so humble and nice, maybe it's a metter of the situation. I understand chris wanting to protect his privacy especially since he has two kids, some people don't like to share personal details , and maybe gwen is a more open person, or maybe she had less bad experience with the media. maybe chris is working too hard and with this "big hair" he looks tired.

Chris we love you, please have a haircut .

Of course, Chris - and the others, too - has changed. How could he not? Not everyone's stuck in the Peter Pan stage like Michael Jackson.

But we, the fans, have also grown over the years. Our attitudes have changed and so we also view things that might not even have changed differently.

And they can't make albums with the goal to please us. Sure, you want your music to be heard and for that it has to be "popular", whatever that means. But a) you can't please everyone and b) you might end up playing these songs for a year almost every night, so the songs have to be for themselves.

And artists experiment. Sometimes they succeed, sometimes they fail, sometimes it's only a mistake or success in hindsight.

And let's not forget she grew up in the world of showbiz. But even she gets annoyed once in a while.

A.

once up on a time Chris used to fulfill his needs for going bars or whatever by

using the money that he get by playing the gigs. They really used to work hard for money

by playing gigs and the songs or so real.Their first albums and EPs are also not got easily

they really worked hard and spent all those money they played in their earlier gigs.

By the time they released their first EP he was still doing his graduation in the university

and after he finished his graduation they released their first album.

he never used to smoke or drink before and is so shy to speak with girls.

in his interviews too he used to be tensed.

i remember even a time when Chris and jonny worked as sweepers in London to

get money.Really i remember that Chris Cutie and tough who really has changed

every single bit know. There is no comparision at all.

When a celebrity has changed, their fans can always tell.

at least their true fans can...

he's just getting older and is more stressed, thats all

i think he become more mature but still funny...

Quote coldmike: "I sometimes felt like it was two different bands.

Their gigs are less intimated.

I mean, I feel like Live 2003 had a different atmosphere. It's less... I'd say cold. They seem closer to the crowd. "

that's what i felt of course it could also be that i was way at the back in 06 concert where people don't stand up and dance. Still the flashy lights and big screen were kind of distracting yet beautiful.

Quote GazeboflossUK : "Look at all the good songs from the pre AROBTTH era that were either never recorded or were only ever b-sides."

They were overflowing with creativity then.

i would sometimes wish their b-sides would've made it to an album to show their different range. I wonder if that did happen, would they be as big as they are now? ......

I haven't read all the pages of comments, but generally a lot of them seem a bit unfair on Chris. Of course the guy has changed - he's not a teenager anymore! But I'd be more worried if he was still going on like a teenager...

When they started out he was naive and young, so yes, he probably seemed more open and easy going during interviews. But it is his openness that also made him a target for the media, who have been pretty cruel at times about him and his family. Imagine how horrible that must have been. No wonder the media, and even the intrusion into his personal life by his fans, have made him more cautions and guarded.

As a guenuine fan, I have waited places to get their autograph, only to find loads of e-bayers waiting for autographs purely to make profit - people who don't even know anything about the band or the boys. Imagine how they must feel about things like that. No wonder they are not so open to fans anymore. That sort of thing is not their fault. They can't be blamed for becoming popular.

When it comes down to it, all our comments on their personalities and how they have supossedly changed are based on complete speculation.

We all think we know - or knew - these boys so well, but we don't. We are simply going by what we read and the bit of interviews that other people have chosen to report, which isn't usually the whole story. The only difference now is that the media are painting a different picture of him, and it is not one that you all like as much.

We ASSUME he didn't go to bars and have a drink or two when he was younger, but really, I bet you any amount of money he was down the pub just like any other university student. We assume he feels differently about his fans, but maybe he just is no longer able to show it in the same way, due to people taking advantage of his openness. We assume he cares about money more, but maybe he just wants to look after his family... It's all assumptions.

We should stop making assumptions about Chris' personality - it's assumptions and comments like that that make him more guarded and less likely to open up to people and his fans...

i remember their first very album safety which only has 500 copies to give for sale and fans

but after phil harvey released them and demo song

they got some money and used that to play gigs and their needs.

it even got them to play their first gig in manchester and

glastonbury 1999 when chris said once that everyone

in a gig underestimated them and throwing things on them,

but later on after playing their songs they stopped listening to them.

He's really very very honest then!

You should get "post of the month" for that - it's marvellous, and I'm in total agreement.

As I've always said, assumption is a very dangerous thing........................

All I know is that when Chris is on stage he comes across extremely well and down-to-earth, with no "airs and graces". That's all that matters.

This was very thought provoking thread.

So now that Coldplay's released another album, do you think that's Chris has changed? And if so, for better or for worse?

It undenyable that he's changed, like some have said before he can't be the same naive, open person like he was when Coldplay first started out. But he's still letting the media get to him [bBC walk-out incident.] and I think that's the reason that he might come of as a prick/diva nowadays. But I don't mind that he's changing, like cpfan said, it's all assumptions, I still adore him, and all of Coldplay. :nice:

Its strange. Since Parachutes came out I've noticed Chris is looking .....older. And his hair length keeps changing. Its bizarre. Something terrible I think is happening to him.

I've also noticed that this blonde lady and these small people (midgets?) keep showing up at his gigs. The blonde lady even looks familiar but I can't put my finger on it.

OMG he is! :uhoh: I'm gonna boycott them now

"this Blond lady and the small people (midgets) - that wouldn't happen to perchance be Gweneth and their children??:laugh3: If he's changed, and it shows in the music, I think for the better! The music's more forceful, more positive; more about possibilities and hope - so, I think he's actually loosened up a bit, sings with added confidence, and feels more comfortable!!!

Chris we love you, please have a haircut .

I know when this thread was started it was started as a serious question but this sums it up for me.

Besides, contrary to a certain song lyric, we all change. don't we?

; )

I thought that chris looked more relaxed and comfortable with himself lately. But then again what do I know? I have 2 short planks of wood where my brain is suposed to be.

Lets face it Chris definately has the right to be cocky - online sales record and album sales records and amount sold in a week in many countries etc. Yet because he has, believed by some here, become more cocky, whether concious or not, is what surprises me and to a very minor degree disappoints me - no not even that, I just alter some of opinions of chris and as a result the group as a whole. I have found myself slightly cringing at some things that some things during recent interviews, something which I rarely if never found myself doing in the past.
