Not sure about a winner at this early stage, but I'll put my house on it not being Zaglebie Lubin

Spartak Moscow...could've been so much better. Long round trip, freezing cold. Guess it'll be like playing Inverness.

I would say it's Chelsea's year

i don't think so;)

i don't think so;)

Me, either. In the past two years people bet on Chelsea and ended up in disappointment. The "chelsea year" was supposed to come two years ago, but now that it didnt come then, it probably wont come this year, as they are no longer the team to beat.

what makes you think that chelsea are no longer the team to beat? i think they have a decent chance to win the champions league but i hope its gonna be liverpool.

i'm backing Liverpool this year.

mostly for the fact that Daniel Agger is my favourite foreign football player... and he's hot.

Clubs learn Champions League fate

championsleaguedraw20072008.jpg

Celtic face a difficult task in the Champions League after the draw for the group stage paired them with holders AC Milan, Benfica and Shakhtar Donetsk.

Rangers also face a tough task, against Barcelona, Lyon and Stuttgart.

Chelsea have been drawn with Valencia, whom they defeated at the quarter-final stage of last season's competition.

Last season's finalists Liverpool face Porto, Marseille and Beskitas, while Manchester United are drawn with Roma, Sporting Lisbon and Dynamo Kiev.

Arsenal were drawn in Group H along with Steau Bucharest, Slavia Prague and either Sevilla or AEK Athens.

United, drawn in Group F, played Roma in a quarter-final tie last season, thrashing the Italian side 7-1 in the second-leg at Old Trafford to complete an aggregate 8-3 victory.

However, the tie was marred by violence during the first match in Rome.

Celtic have also been drawn against opposition they met in last season's competition, the Scottish club running eventual champions Milan close as they battled for a place in the quarter-finals.

The tie was goalless after the first leg at Celtic Park, before Gordon Strachan's team lost 1-0 in extra-time in the second leg at the San Siro.

Scottish rivals Rangers, however, face an extremely tough task against Spanish giants Barca, French champions Lyon and Stuttgart, who won the German title last season for the first time in 15 years.

Could have been so much better but I say bring it on...I am waiting for the inevitable English press goading of our mighty team. We will give it a huge effort as always. Seems the English teams got off very lightly indeed.

Ah I'm so happy! The game in Zagreb was so exciting and during the first half I thought Werder wouldn't reach the next round!

Now Werder Bremen got Real Madrid, Lazio Roma and Olympiakos Piräus. We never played against all these teams before, although we have reached the Champions League four times in a row now. :)

Compared to last year when we got Barcelona and Chelsea, this group isn't that bad. Can't wait to get any tickets! Unfortunately German free-tv will only broadcast Werder-Olympiacos. Scandalous!

Come on Bremen!!! and good luck to all German team:) Bayern in Uefa cup included:P

If Bayern Munich don't win the uefa cup than something is wrong with them.

Yeah hope it's gonna be successful for us... even the Romanian League overtook the Bundesliga now lol.

Kicks of this week :D

Will there be any early shockers?

Group A

FC Porto 1-1 Liverpool

Marseille 2-0 Besiktas

Group B

Chelsea 1-1 Rosenborg ....only 24,973 in attendance at the Bridge :stunned:

Schalke 04 0-1 Valencia

Group C

Olympiacos 1-1 Lazio

Real Madrid 2-1 Werder Bremen

Group D

AC Milan 2-1 Benfica

Shakhtar Donetsk 2-0 Celtic

Both German teams lost! :(

But Werder did a great job at Bernabeu! I never thought Real would get a lot of problems, because Frings, Fritz and Borowski are still injured. I'm happy for Sanogo that he scored his first CL goal. ;)

Sporting vs. Manchester United

0-1

Score by Ronaldo.
