OUT IN THE COLD: Coldplay frontman Chris Martin apparently couldn't get into the premiere of his wife Gwyneth Paltrow's new movie, The Good Night, because a security guard didn't recognise who he was.

 

Chris Martin was left red-faced when he was refused entry to the premiere of wife Gwyneth Paltrow's new movie.

 

The Coldplay frontman - who has a three-year-old daughter, Apple, and a 16-month-old son, Moses, with the 34-year-old actress - was "manhandled" by a security guard who didn't recognise him as he tried to get into the private New York screening of The Good Night on Saturday.

 

The New York Daily News newspaper reports: "One security guard, who apparently isn't a Coldplay fan, manhandled Chris when he tried to sneak by the waiting mob on the red carpet."

 

Luckily, Gwyneth - who stars alongside Danny DeVito and Penelope Cruz in the romantic comedy directed by her brother Jake - came to the rescue and her 30-year-old husband was allowed in.

 

Other celebrities attending the Cinema Society-Wall Street Journal screening included Sir Paul McCartney, who was accompanied by his children Stella, Mary and James, singer Billy Joel, Christy Turlington, fashion designer Donna Karan and actor Kyle MacLachlan.

 

Following the screening, the VIP guests enjoyed a private dinner at billionaire investor Ronald Perelman's estate.

 

The Good Night follows the story of a married man who falls in love with a woman who exists only in his dreams.

You'd think being married to the star of a new movie would have its perks – but Saturday night wasn't a lot of fun for Chris Martin .

 

The Coldplay frontman, 30, accompanied wife Gwyneth Paltrow to the US premiere of new flick The Good Night.

 

But Chris wasn't fast-tracked up the red carpet at the bash.

 

'The bouncer made him hang around for ages before letting him in,' a source tells the Daily Mirror. 'He later boasted he wasn't a Coldplay fan.'

 

Meanwhile, wife Gwyn, 34, was lapping up all the attention.

Sad to say that there are actually quite a lot of people who still don't know of Coldplay, let alone Chris!

When I went trick-or-treating a few years back, I went as Chris = the rings, clothes, a wig, and all (although I'm a girl :D).

But out of the 50 houses I went to, only 5 or so actually knew who Chris Martin/Coldplay was!!! :shocked2:

it's not strange, most of the people who like music whould have recognized chris, but there are people who aren't interested in music, so some of them won't know who chris is.

and chris is always trying to disguise himself in these kind of events...

But it still wasn't right for the bouncer to deny Chris entry on the basis that he was not a fan of Coldplay. (if the media is telling the whole story)

If he refused him entry because he didn't recognize him then that's embarassing - way more for the security guy than Chris, IMO. But mistakes happen.

 

If he refused him entry because he doesn't like Coldplay then it's extremely unprofessional and he should get an earful by his boss (if not even shown the door).

It was on TV, and the security guy looked straight at him in the car and said: "I would know George Michael anywhere, and you're not him."

it's a shame for the organizers of this event, they should have checked the guests list, and give instructions to the security guards.

it can't be true that he refused just because he didn't like coldplay...he would have been fired for that.

I remember reading an article about Chris Martin taking the train to a Coldplay concert at an O2gig and being stopped by a security guard at the door. I'll try and find the article. ----------- I found the article dated 17 December, 2008: Headline: "Chris Martin snubs limos and takes the Underground to O2 gig". If you were on your way to the O2 on Monday night and thought: "That bloke reading 3am looks vaguely like Chris Martin" - then it probably was! Because the Coldplay star decided to snub the chauffeur-driven limo and jump on the Jubilee Line to go to his own gig. He told us: "I was reading your column on the way here on the Tube. I like getting the Tube sometimes to walk into our own gig. You get charged up from the atmosphere. No one recognised me. I just bought a Mirror and kept my head down and got off with everyone else. But then security stopped me at the door and I had to explain who I was. That was a bit embarrassing. :laugh3: It must have been, indeed - for both parties involved.:D So you are right - the same could happen today - it did in December 2008! But has to do with the fact that Chris Martin avoids red carpets and publicity whenever he can, unless it has to do with concerts or promoting Coldplay. So if Chris Martin's name was not on the guest list for the film screening in 2007 the security guard could be excused. Chris Martin does not walk on the red carpet with his wife and would probably not be attending the film screening. I was surprised when reading that he attended the film screening. - It was much more embarrassing with the security guard stopping Chris Martin at the door when wanting to join the other boys for the concert. Imagine the boys going on to the stage: "Sorry, Chris Martin cannot make it in time - we just found out that he has been stopped by one of the O2 security guards for trying to sneak in and turned over to the police - things are now being sorted out. He will be here in any minute now!! :laugh3::D:lol:
