U23D

Featured Replies

has anyone else seen U23D? i thought it was pretty damn mind-blowing, a) because it's U2, but b) because of this brand-new technology. it wasn't like those cheesy 3D movies we've all seen where a few of the figures stand out from the background like cardboard cut outs and are really just 2D figures on a different plane from the background--this is like how things ACTUALLY are. the stand-out figures (which is pretty much everything, not just the focus of the shot) are truly 3D and contoured, and the depth of the entire picture is mindblowing. you're pretty much convinced that you're standing on the stage with bono and the edge, it's that impressive. you feel like you're actually there, and you want to punch out the girl on her boyfriend's shoulders in front of you because she's blocking your view, and you want to slap away all the hands that get too close to you. amazing :freak:.

i think this is a pretty big step towards the film of the future. has anyone else seen it?

I haven't seen it. Unfortunately, none of my friends listen to good music, so i'd have noone to go with. But i've heard its great. Very cool concept. I want to see it really badly

Unfortunately I missed this one :(

From what I've heard though, its absolutely amazing!

It's fantastic. I loved it. :nice: Alas, probably the closest I'll ever get to the real thing...

Hey hey, I went to it last night . . . :D

Amazing ! It was too short !

With Imax films they tend to have to shorten them significantly because they take up so much more film than traditional films.

I went last night with a friend, and I really really liked it. I've never seen this technology used before and I've now got a new favourite movie! I wanna go see it again! The setlist was great and the band played it very well for the film. The way they've filmed is really captivating and it was so cool how they edited in the words during one of the songs, i forget the name. But I really liked how real it felt sitting there watching it because the movie comes so close to you, especially when Bono waved his hand across the screen and Adam was playing his bass at the edge of the stage!!! They did the camera work really well and set the band up so it worked! I was just shivering from edge's riffs in both New Years Day, Vertigo and Where the Streets have no names. I also liked it how they edited the funny animated bubbles when Bono moved his fingers around at one point. There was also another point in the movie when the camera was in the crowd and people were on eachothers shoulders and it just seemed so real. Overall it was mindblowing so if you can, go see U2 3D
