Coldplay are an established band and like any band, they want to evolve and I'd like to think as fans, we should encourage change. You are a fan of Coldplay for many reasons, one being when you first heard them, they were different, caught your ear and all that, this is what they are doing to a new generation of fans. We being the long-timers here should expect that, want that. Goodness knows I adore heaps of their old classic tracks, but I wouldn't want to hear the same things over and over. Worse thing that could happen is for fans to get bored of the band.

 

You may guarantee that ^ based on what I don't know, but I guarantee if they released an album that sounded like their previous albums, we'd all be calling for change. Can't please everyone as Chris said himself, so go with the flow and enjoy the ride - change is constant like all things, and that's here to stay, unlike you apparently which is unfortunate.

I totally agree with that. They have to move on to get other people's attention. We're all use to the good ol albums but lets just put some spice into the newer songs. It's ok for change, even though I know it can be hard if you've adjusted to the old stuff. Conservatism is good on some bases but they want to give it variety.

 

Don't leave, stay at least until the album is out and make your full opinion on it. then, if people still bash you or you still don't want to stay, then leave.

 

I don't think this was all necessary to make a thread called The End in the Coldplay section. lol, most people who leave and want to post that they're leaving is in the Lounge.

What? Don't leave. Of course you're free to express your opinion, negative or otherwise. People might disagree with it because they disagree with you or are maybe protective of Coldplay, but we have always been a site that welcomes everyone and would never stifle someone.

 

Please rethink your choice, especially since you haven't even heard the album yet...maybe it will be more oldschool Coldplay, who knows?

Dont think you should leave. Your entitled to your own opinion. I dont mind there new stuff. Violet hill is good. viva la vida good but dont know if that will cut it as a single but time will tell [ the XFM text in opinions didnt sound to clever].

Think some people are to protective of Coldplay and dont like hearing bad things, some people need to learn that the world is like that some people are still going to hate Coldplay. this album isnt going to be magical one everyone on the earth is going to love like everyone thinks, the music is supposedly just going to appeal to other taste. In any case Ive found reading your posts interesting, its nice to hear both arguments instead of how wonderful coldplay all the time it gets a bit teadious.

Im undecided on Viva la vida, i like violet hill, VLV good but not sure if its single material, but thats my opinion. But i will wait till the entire album until i make my mind up i can hardly judge by hearing 3 songs and a bit.

Here's what I gotta say.

 

Most people who bash Coldplay, on coldplaying or otherwise, only say "they suck," "they're gay," or a clever combination of the two. You weren't exactly the case.

 

The problem with your posts is this: You never acknowledged anyone who responded to your posts with evidence or examples which utterly proved you wrong.

 

Just enjoy what you want and leave the new stuff to people who will appreciate it. If you don't like it, that's cool.

 

But everyone else does.

I dont know you, and I dont specifically remember any of your posts, but sorry this couldnt work out. Its a shame when a few bad experiences can ruin something as great as this forum for someone, oh well. I hope you find another forum as great as this one.

 

Just remember, you cant expect to complain to people about something they love deeply and not get some negativity. That's the truth. It may seem like a place where you can express yourself completely, but there is no place in the world so open. There will always be people who disagree, and sometimes, that will be many people.

 

Next time I just hope you give the forum more of a chance, because chances are youll be missing out.

This will be my last post here because I am apparently upsetting too many people here. I will say my peace and move on. I thought we were allowed to express our acclaim and criticism of the band but apparently that is not the case. Maybe I went overboard but so did most of you. I did not attack anyone personally except that person from Boston because NY and BOS have a little rivalry if you didnt know. Anyway here it is...

 

I didnt realize Coldplay fans were so yellow. Get it...Yellow? LOL! Actually I am still a Coldplay fan but B-VLV (Before VLV) so I guess I'm part Yellow too. Seriously everyone needs a chill pill. I am not getting upset here...you guys are. I'm entitled to my opinion so if I want to bash the band for creating music I think is shit than thats my right. For ignorant people like you who do not want me to bash your beloved band....just deal with it. The funny thing about all this is that all you are getting all bent out of shape and Im not. Being defensive is not a good sign. Seems like a lot of people are going overboard in saying good things about the songs. Things likethis is the best song ever or best Coldplay song ever! Gimme a break. What if there is a better song on the album. Will that be the best song ever ever? LOL! Or maybe best song in the history of music or the universe? You have to right to say you love the music and I have the right to say I hate it...end of story. By bashing myself and others you have created a forum that will only have positive posts so you are not getting both sides of the story. Do you think anyone will post any criticism of the band after reading some replies I have received? Dont think so.

 

I have supported the band throughout the years by buying their CDs and DVDs and watching, listening, and sharing their music with as many people as possible. So for someone like me to feel like this then you so-called Coldplay fans should take notice. Plus its not only myself that feels this way, I am just more outspoken about it. Trust me I have shared this new music with some of my friends and they thought it was a joke. I stated right after X&Y that the band was headed in the wrong direction and I was right. I am just trying to understand why it is so easy for fans to embrace music that sounds nothing like the band they were fans of. If another band that you never heard of released this album I guarantee nobody would pay any attention to it. Anyway good luck everyone!
