rank all vlv songs thus far

Featured Replies

and in response to the above post, EMI have it under lock and key. literally - its not goin anywhere till June 11th

Danng, seriously! I didn't know that... :(

1. vlv

2. lovers in japan

3. lost?

4. violet hill

5. life in technicolor

6. asary

7. lost (what we've heard of it)

8. yes (what we've heard of it)

Why are there so many VLV dislikers? I mean it's clearly a matter of preference but I would have thought it'd be the favourite especially after the response when everyone first heard it.

Not saying anyone is wrong, just interested to see what peoples reasons are. I liked Violet hill a lot till I heard the other songs and I realised they were setting higher standards than Violet hill imo so I can understand an opinion change, just curious what everyones are.

And as someone who selected Yes as high, in response to those questioning how people can judge it on the short clip, I'm not sure but some songs just give a good vibe to me and it really has stood out to me. Very excited to hear it fully which may be why it's so high in my list.

1. Yes (very exciting. the most original leaked song by far)

2. Violet Hill

3. Viva La Vida

4. Lovers In Japan

5. Life In Technicolor

6. Lost

Wow, it's gonna be an awesome album, that's for sure.

1. Yes

2. Viva La Vida

3. Violet Hill

4. Lost

5. Lovers In Japan

6. Life In Technicolor

Of the 6 so far that is. Man it's hard to sit there and rank life and lovers so low. Great songs they are! That just says how deep this album is.

1. Violet Hill

(the rest are too horrible to even rank)

don't shoot don't shoot :P

"1. Violet Hill

I will not shoot, but I will say...really?

Also, why is everyone ranking Yes, i mean, havent we only heard like a few discerinble seconds of it? Also Lovers in Japan and Lost (acoustic) might sound better on album once theyre clean.

I will go against the ranking syndrome and say...they are all great songs. Seriously, for some people they might really not like one or the other, so ranking for them makes sense, but for me there hasn't been one ive disliked at all. I'd say A Spell A Rebel Yell is worthy of being a b-side though.

But really, VLV, LIJ, LIT, VH, Lost...they are all such great and different songs. Coldplay really raised their game in my eyes with this album. I'm not a food enthusiast, but you know when they talk about combinations of foods that engage the palette (misspelled)? Viva la Vida is an album that engages my musical pallete.

OK, I made CD of these and the order are:

Violet Hill (I always anticipate the opening ...slow opening)

A Spell Rebel Yell (I am skippin this more and more)

Viva La Vida (I like this one... just uplifting feeling to me and like the iTunes clip)

Lovers In Japan (very soft sound, but I like it)

Life In Technicolor (for some reason, I feel like it could be part of a Coke commercial, but I like it)

Lost ( the traditional Coldplay piano sound, beautiful voice of Chris, I think this will be the hidden track reminds me of Amsterdam, piano version)

Lost (with the beats added, will be the one on the main tracks, I love this song either way)

Yes ( I can't say, since it was very hard to hear the song amist the conversation, did not put this on my CD)

Viva La Vida (remix with the beats added, is one that I added to my workout music, I like)

OMG!!! There's Chris on the TV right now... I luv that iTunes! VIVA LA COLDPLAY!!! :D

1. Viva la Vida

2. Lovers In Japan

3. Violet Hill

4. Life in Technicolor

5. Lost!

6. Yes

Probably Lost! and Yes are that low because you can judge too much with only a couple of seconds in the background of an interview, so this list may change a lot.

Hmm, I'd say currently (haven't heard the famous 15 seconds of Yes):

  1. Violet Hill
  2. Life in Technicolor
  3. Lost?
  4. Lovers in Japan
  5. Viva La Vida

I'm almost certain this will change once I hear the entire album, though. I think it needs to be heard from start to end.

1. LIT - everytime I hear this towards the end I get goosebumps!

2. VLV - very uplifting

3. Lost! - love it

4. VH

5. LIJ - I really am not a hug fan of this. I like the melody though.

1) Violet Hill

2) Life In Technicolor

3) Viva La Vida

4) Lost!

I'm only doing those four because I can't judge the others on poor recordings/part songs etc.

1) I love Lost? so I hope Lost! will be up there although it's hard to tell.

2) Viva La Vida

3) Violet Hill

Resisted the temptation of all the other ones. Or there will be no surprises left!

1. Violet Hill - Can be interchanged with the 2nd or even 3rd spot

2. Viva La Vida

3. Lost?

4. Lost! - From what i've heard, not quite as good as Lost? but the guitar part was really cool. Could move up if i hear the whole thing

5. Life in Technicolor - Don't mind that there are no lyrics, but i would like the song to be longer

6. Yes - Havent heard much of this, but Chris's voice is dangerously low for my liking

7. A Spell A Rebel Yell - Cheezy techno-y, which i dont really like

8. Lovers In Japan - Simply, not as good as the other songs in my opinion

violet hill

viva la vida

lovers in japan

1 Viva La Vida

2 Lost

3 Lovers in Japan

4 Violet Hill

5 a spell

Yes!(I have heard enough to say this is great)

Lost!

Violet hill

Lovers in Japan

a spell a rebbel yell

viva la vida
