Coldplay i Globen

Producerad av Brian Eno är "Viva la vida or death and all his friends" gruppens mest melodiska, mest varierade, mest helgjutna hittills.

3447786819.jpg

Foto: ALL OVER PRESS

Swedish for Beginners

Source: http://andyschell.blogspot.com/2008/09/swedish-for-beginners.html

Last night Mia and I, and her old swimming friends Ida and Anna went to Globen Arena (incidentally, we live right next door), and saw Coldplay. I'm a casual Coldplay fan at best, and generally don't even listen to them unless someone else puts them on. Sometimes I think it's a bit gay to be a Coldplay fan, no? Last night was not gay.

Ida and Anna came over around 6pm, and since we only had a two minute walk to the Globen (which, resembles and enormous white golf ball), we had some dinner first. I prepared the finest curry I've ever eaten, and redeemed myself for my lackluster effort at Mia's friend's house the week before with Ryan. They girls supplied some wine. The three of them chatted in incomprehensible Swedish while I lounged on the couch looking at photos from New Zealand and wishing I could go back there, like now.

The one and half glasses of red wine I drank merely put me in somber, sleepy mood, and I spent the first half hour of the opening act (who happened to be the drummer from the Strokes - pretty sweet), yawning my brains out. As usual, there was about a 45 minutes delay between sets, and Coldplay finally came out around 9:30. Someone, Ryan maybe, or maybe Nate told me that they put on a good show - it didn't disappoint.

Chris Martin must be one speed or something, because he didn't sit still for the entire concert and was full of boundless energy. Even playing his piano he was jerking and gyrating around. The band truly looked like they were having an immense amount of fun. The songs were played with enormous energy, second only to Dave Matthews and his namesake Band in my opinion. In hindsight, it was probably the best 'stadium' concert I've ever been to. Well, maybe a close second to U2, my first concert in Philly with Nate and Dane. But anyway, it was surprisingly awesome.

And the audience was insane! They sang along to every song with remarkable clarity. During the brief intermission before the first encore, they were chanting and stomping and the whole place felt like it would cave in. Quite impressive.

At one point, the whole band ran off the stage and sprinted across the floor towards the back of the arena and proceeded to climb up the stairs to the lower level of seats, just under where we were seated. According to Martin, "We can't fly all the way to Sweden and not come visit the back!" They played two songs from right in the audience, and both included a harmonica.

It belongs to standardrepertoaren to arenarockband have a small section in the middle of the concert when the peeling down to a small typesetting. Maybe even to leave the scene for a minor ledge out there in the audience. Coldplay like the kind of antics so much that they do two pieces.

First trudge all the band on the far one of the two scentungor that protrude into publikhavet, and that otherwise most is for the singer to run on. There drummer Will Champion may be content with a small syntpad-rectangle instead of drum kits. Then it is half-time in the show is about.

Only a couple of songs after they have withdrawn their big scene, it is time again. Then the rushing down into the audience and up on one gallery, where the top is hiding a small mikroscen. For the four to crowd together and play acoustic. And let Will Champion sing "Death will never conquer," an atypical thing in sets of Woody Guthrie and gospel, while the head Chris Martin plays harmonica.

Personally, I thought enough to Coldplay would hold itself to good on that. The fact that this was a band that took on a little too seriously to publikflirta where so fiercely. But it hardly seems to be no halt in how much they want to blink and småtramsa with the audience.

That is why Chris Martin how we have it, which, after a regular schedule. He praises the audience sånginsatser and add easily modified publikfriarrader in several songs (the heavy, serious "Politics", for example, ends with the phrase "give me, give me Swedish girls"). He grating up to a stump on Robyn and Kleerups "With every heartbeat."

By contrast, he says not a word about the campaign that the charitable organization Oxfam operates in the foyer.

This is not the language of the group's music speaks, but the contrast is actually a good thing. Although the stylish scenografidetaljerna means more - as they are coloured jättebollarna with the spinning pattern, or laserljusen that paints patterns on the wall for those who are looking in the wrong direction, away from the scene.

Most significantly, however, is that Coldplay has just done his best disc. Produced by Brian Eno's "Viva la vida or death and all his friends" the group's most melodic, most varied, most sterling so far.

They seem to know about it themselves, for they play in principle throughout. And it sounds consistently so large and rich in just four Monday that it little wonder what could possibly be förpreparerat.

It also means that the concert not only is the long series of monumental halvballader as one might have feared. Without a really well-event, in which Chris Martin switching between guitar and piano, and between a kraftröst approaching Bono and a brighter, more sensitive, which explains some of the old comparisons with Radiohead.

As arenarockare there is not even remarkable popmpösa. Sure, they fill out a crowded Glob without problems, but I am not at all sure that one or Ullevi Stadium would be as easy. In comparison with a full utvuxet stadionband as U2, it can be up to call them low-key.

In the most comprehensive konfettiregn fall in "Lovers in Japan" or in a platoon small dazzling headlamps marks rytmkrevaderna in "Death and all his friends."

So damn good it is!

Men förlåt.

http://stockholm.city.se/noje/2008/09/18/Helt_stortjavla_bra__Coldplay/

Which star takes its band and submits scene, treads out through the audience sea, climbs up all stairs and sets himself and plays in the middle of the audience longest batch in Globen? Asks a girl that not plåta his abdomen, that he thinks is little thick? Hyllar Robyn and Kleerup with lodging” With every heartbeat” at the end of one of your biggest hit's? No star except Chris's Martin does it.

But I'm sorry. Now, I began somewhere at the end of Coldplays concert on Globen. Already in the other tune has kvartetten the fulfilled arena with red shone, vase said LASER trawls and one” Clocks” that ends out in one bejublat STOCK-HOOOLM. Chris's Martin bounces easily over the scene on your rubber legs and continues with” in my place”. Late continues Coldplay to skruva up the level for each minute until everything is yellow.

It is entirely disturbed.

New colours for each tune

each tune is equally worked through visual as musical. Sex miniatyrglobar with projektioner is increased and is lowered over the stall, the scene is moved in new colours for was tune. Chris's Martin imbues the entire spectrum - in upptempolåtarna runs he with the arms utsträckta as an aeroplane along with the scene edge in the ballads limits he Globen until he has all thousand's spectators in on only the skin. It shows he especially when he goes from sitting single-handed with the piano in the middle of the audience sea in” The hardest party” to to suddenly to explode in football let” Viva la wide”. When one thick alone shining spirit confetti rain never wants to finished island said down turns it himself in the MAG on myself. I feel poorly. So damn good is it.
