June 4, 200818 yr As I expected, this album is almost certainly the best thing Coldplay have ever done. Even better than A Rush Of Blood To The Head. Without a doubt. If you listen to that album now, the number of weak tracks far outnumber on this album. Plus, musically, this album is LIGHT YEARS ahead of anything they've done before (except for a few moments on X&Y). This is the album X&Y should have been - this is Coldplay's Great Leap Forward. Took the words right out of my mouth. :)
June 4, 200818 yr Out of respect for the band I'm not listening to anything I havent yet heard until the 9th, but excited to hear such good reviews from fans so far.
June 4, 200818 yr MUCH MUCH MUCH BETTER than X&Y.....for me still far behind A Rush of Blood.......some really good tracks so far....Death and Yes stand out as the best for me.......strawberry swing and lost are the weakest to me.....has a different feel than other stuff they have done.....which is what i was hopinng for....it is a good solid album...but nothing on it makes me ache, cry, ponder, feel, regret like the songs on AROBTTH......

June 4, 200818 yr Reign of Love does nothing for me. It's nice and all, but it just kind of sits there.
June 4, 200818 yr This album is the best album I've ever heard. How do I judge that? Upon my first full listen, I got goosebumps. I also felt a tear or two form in my eyes. After listening to Yes, I have a new all-time favorite song. I love the different elements to that song! A Middle Eastern strings section? Are you kidding me? It's a brilliant sounding song and the closest thing Coldplay's ever done to a bluesy-type song. My next favorite is 42, there are so many different elements to the song that it's just so incredible, the most complex song Coldplay's ever written. The song is about death, which could be why Chris said this is the song that everyone needs to hear before they die. I now believe he meant because the song itself was about death, people need to hear it before they die, which is brilliant. My next favorite is Lost!, followed by Lovers in Japan, Cemeteries in London, DAAHF, Strawberry Swing, Viva la Vida, Violet Hill, Reign of Love, and Chinese Sleep Chant. Chinese Sleep Chant is my least favorite simply because I couldn't hear the lyrics, but just because it's my least favorite out of the songs doesn't mean I don't like it. In fact, I love it. I love every song. The beauty of this album will not be surpassed. This is Coldplay's masterpiece, and the best album to come out this millenium, and maybe the last. I'm on the second listen and I am still getting chills. I'm glad I didn't wait, my enjoyment was not hindered by downloading it.

Yeah I agree with that, I guess we are now all divided in 2 categories.
June 4, 200818 yr The songs are intellectually satisfying, i can see the will to change, the ambition, the boldness in a way, but from an emotion standpoint, it fails to meet my expectations.
June 4, 200818 yr The escapist is a hidden track in DAAHF? cause my song is 6:19 and after a brief silence another starts but it doesn't have any lyrics (well i think at least 2 lines) am i wrong?
June 4, 200818 yr upon first listen, this album is RAW PERFECTION in my opinion i know that's slightly moronic, but i read a quote from someone once that perfection is a moving target, and so far Coldplay are about a milimeter away from hitting it, it's quite an experimental album...i still think they can do better They've not hit pure perfection for me just yet, but this is pretty damn close to it. maybe after afew more listens it'll hit perfection ;) this is my favourite coldplay album so far. It blows X&Y out of the water and into frigging outer space :D
June 4, 200818 yr 42, Strawberry Swing, Cemeteries of London and LIT are the best! This is an amazing album! :)
June 4, 200818 yr this is my favourite coldplay album so far. It blows X&Y out of the water and into frigging outer space :D It does destroy X&Y but are you aware that they released two killers before that one ?
June 4, 200818 yr A Film Soundtrack Thats what VLVODAAHF sounds like. Very hard to digest and rate it so far.
June 4, 200818 yr Thats what VLVODAAHF sounds like. Very hard to digest and rate it so far. easy, i use my imagination.
June 4, 200818 yr my thoughts about new songs!! lovers in japan & Strawberry Swing are amazing!!! yes is pretty good CSC sound like crest of waves i think, i love it songs i dont like cementaries /reign of love & i hate 42 42 sounds terrible ! this was suposse to be the centerpiece i thought it was gonna be great considering they been working on it for 5 years but maybe thats why its bad becuase that gives chris more time to turn a great song into a terrible one!! the less time worked on a song the better clocks politik daylight scientist all songs created quickly ! less time for chris to ruin it!! overall i love the new songs!!
June 4, 200818 yr Random observations of the final few songs: There's a line in "Strawberry Swing" about being able to keep your feet on the ground, which makes me wonder about its connection to the song with a title like that which was left off the album.. The transition between "Strawberry Swing" and "Death and all His Friends" is really abrupt. A few other songs feel the same way, but I attribute most of them to being ripped as individual tracks rather than as an entire album. This one, though, seems that it'll be that way on the album. The chorus of "DAAHF" is... kind of rap-ish. Anyone else feel that way? "The Escapist" is beautiful!
